Left on 11/11/2010 for a stay in August 2010
The first time we stayed was for New Year, warm & cosy, everything & more was there to make our stay comfortable & relaxing.
In the winter, we found plenty of things to do. Bluestones Water Park, water slides, has a brilliant wave machine. Beaches nearby beautiful & unspoilt, nothing beats a brisk walk along one of the many beaches, especially on New Years Day. Manobier an unspoilt beach, gorgeous coastline. Saundersfoot perfect for a busier walk, shopping, time on the beach, harbour & a good hot meal afterwards at one of the many great places to eat. We found a restaurant, The Mermaids Tail, which overlooks the sea, food good and varied.
The 2nd time we stayed at Hanbury Lodge was august 2010. In the summer you can make more use of the garden, patio area & enjoy the view of the fields behind with the horses, whilst sat on the patio with a glass of wine.
Body boarding at Freshwater West, beautiful sand dunes that the children loved. The lifeguard, one of the most vigilant I have seen. Films have been made there, the setting is so stunning. Heatherton activity Park, something for all of us. Opposite is anna Ryder Richardsons Zoo, u could do both in one day. I have family in Devon, love that part of the world, but I think that this part of Wales is equally as stunning & the beaches are mainly less busy, which makes it even more perfect.
Two places, I would suggest a visit are places I can't remember the name of, I am sure the owners will leave details, one is a waterside tea room, with a FaB menu, inc fresh crab, award winning place. Another is where we went crabbing on the Jetty, at the bottom of a pub garden. The children caught heaps of crabs, whilst we sat watching them, as the sun came down.
All in all a really gorgeous break & still much more to see and do. -

Clevedongreat cottage and lots to do in Pembrokeshire for all ages
Left on 10/19/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We had a lovely stay at 4 Hanbury Lodge. Its very quiet there, you wake up naturally in the mornings, no cars passing etc, the garden looks out over a field with horses in and has a lovely rural view. It is clean and furnished to a high standard, the bedrooms are large, one of the bedrooms can fit a whole family in as it sleeps 5 comfortably so you could bring the grandparents too. Both bedrooms have a tv (one of the bedrooms also has a dvd player and sofabed), plus there is tv/dvd player in the lounge so the adults/children could relax and watch their programmes seperately. Our children, aged 13 and 10, loved it there. The great thing about Pembrokeshire is it a well kept secret, even in the high season its not heaving like other holiday resorts are. Most beaches are uncommercialised but they have all the facilities you require, our favourite beach was Freshwater West, great for body boarding. The cottage is really close to lots of beaches, we loved Barafundle Bay, Saundersfoot, Broadhaven South. Recommended places to eat are The Mermaid at Saundersfoot, The Jeffreyston Inn at Jeffreyston, The Carew Inn at Carew, Quayside Tearooms at Lawrenny Quay. We loved Heatherton which is 5 mins from the cottage, admission is free, it's a "pay as you play” place, activities include archery baseball, laser clays, pistol shooting, karting, bumper boats, scalextric, tree tops trail, paintball and Walking on Water in the holiday season. Oakwood theme park is 5 miles away, great fun and again, no huge queues. The Blue Lagoon Water Park is next door to Oakwood, wave machine, flumes etc. Solva is a pretty harbour village with shops, restaurants, cafes and galleries. The Jolly Sailor at Burton is great, the children can go crabbing from the jetty whilst parents sit in the pub garden having a drink. I could go on and on, lots to do for people of all ages, castles, zoos, beaches, coastal walks etc. We will definitely being going back as there is so much still to do.

Hanbury Lodge was positioned up a long driveway, with about three other houses nearby, but was still private and quiet. The interior had been decorated and furnished to a high standard and was very clean and tidy. Everything we needed was there and it was ideally situated for touring the surrounding area.

SheffieldA peaceful retreat with everything you could need
Left on 09/09/2010 for a stay in June 2010
For our holiday this year we had decided that we wanted to be close to the coast but also in a peaceful location preferably with a garden so that the kids could play safely outside. Hanbury Lodge definitely provided all this.
We arrived at the cottage having turned off onto a private estate where we were able to park right outside the property. The cottage was clean and modern and had everything we could have needed whilst on holiday including a dishwasher! The lounge and bedrooms were very comfortable (with televisions in each of the bedrooms) and linen and towels were provided. The decoration in the cottage was very welcoming and it certainly felt like a 'home from home'!
The lounge had lovely French doors which led out to the well-kept gardens. This was just perfect as we were set back off the road and the garden was enclosed so we knew the kids could play safely outside. There was a patio table and chairs and a BBQ and, as we were quite lucky with the weather, we enjoyed a few evenings outside with a bottle of wine enjoying the views over the surrounding countryside!
The cottage is in such a peaceful setting - there was no noise at night so we were well-rested and able to really enjoy our holiday! We were just a couple of miles from the coast at Saundersfoot which has a wonderful sandy beach and from where we got a fishing trip out on the bay and caught a few mackeral to go on the BBQ! The town of Tenby was also just a short drive away and has a few nice beaches and lots of lovely pubs and restaurants where we enjoyed a couple of good nights out. There are a number of walking trails in the area incuding the Pembrokeshire Coast Path although we stuck to just taking in a few of the countryside walks.
We would definitely go back here again. The cottage was absolutely perfect and there was so much to do it was hard to decide what to do first!
