Description from the owner

Oyster Bay is located in Madeira Park, in the serene natural setting of Pender Harbour. A boater’s paradise, whether your craft be a yacht, a kayak, a canoe or a paddle boat. Explore the still waters cove by cove, jump off the dock for a swim, take in the sun on the deck chairs and watch the sun disappear over Mt Daniel to give way to the brilliant stars of a sky far removed from the city. Sit in the hot tub overlooking the bay or sit around the outdoor fire place.

Drive, paddle or motor into Pender Harbour for a plate of famous, fresh fish and chips. Catch some of the amazing talent at the various Pender Harbour Blues & Jazz Festival...Read more

    Additional Location Information

Named after the island of Madeira off Portugal’s coast, Madeira Park is a shopping and community hub on the scenic Sunshine Coast and a gateway to some of the region’s impressive natural wonders. Together with Garden Bay and Irvines Landing, the small oceanside community forms part of the Pender Harbour area and is a tangle of coves and lakes that will challenge even the best of navigators. With its cluster of banks, supermarkets and shops, Madeira Park is not only a good place to find services and amenities, it also serves as a launch point for the surrounding coastline. Daily cruises leave the area for the glacial fjord of Princess Louisa Inlet, Chatterbox Falls and the Princess Louisa Marine Provincial Park, home to British Columbia’s most stunning natural harbour. The town is also a starting place for kayaking, cruising or diving the many bays and islands of the region. Fearney Bluffs, Nelson Rock, and Anderson and Charles Islands, all popular diving locations, are accessible from Madeira Park but only by boat. Welbourne Cove, on the other hand, is a short walk away from the centre and has a marina, picnic area and cultural centre.

Absolutely Perfect - in every way!

Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in August 2011

What an amazing place! We had found the Oyster Bay Waterfront Retreat on line and booked it. We had not seen it until the day before our wedding. We had the entire resort for the wedding and then stayed in the Big Rock Suite for our honeymoon. Let me just say - pictures do not do this place justice! The Mt. Daniel Suite is so tastefully done with its beautiful wood floors and Victorian furniture. The Big Rock Suite is truly amazing! Things you don't see in the pictures on the website are the granite tile floors, the grand Victorian chair in the entrance way, the views from each and every bedroom, the comfort of the beds, the expanse of the Big Rock Suite, and I could go on and on. I could have hugged Dale when she gave us the tour as it was sooo perfect - better than I imagined a perfect wedding location to be. The entire suites were immaculate. The owners went above and beyond to make our day perfect! Thank you! Wish you had have stayed! Highly recommended to anyone! You won't be disappointed!

Great Location, Quiet, Serene, Good mix of activities available

Left on 08/14/2011 for a stay in July 2011

I would rate this a 5 but the house we where staying in needs a few minor cosmetic fixes. I do believe that Dale and Peter are working to resolve these issues and I hope to see them fixed during my next stay so I can rate it higher.

Now for the good.. The location is about 2 minute drive from the Maderia Park village and about a 45-60 minute scenic drive from the Gibson Ferries. For any type of supplies you may need you can goto the local shops or head into Sechelt for larger shopping . There is nearby Salmon, Cod, Crab and Prawn fishing charter based out of Sunshine Coast resort run by Jeff of Pender Habour Charters who I highly recommend. He had myself and my 6 year old daughter at our catch limits in under 2 hours and we had a great time.

We also took time to enjoy the local scenery and beaches that are nearby which my daughter thoroughly enjoyed being able to see trees of such size and tide pools to poke around in during a day trip to Porpoise Bay. Lastly we took a second fishing charter with Captain Randy who is now running charters on behalf of the property and was an excellent host and knows all of the history of the local area. He was a fantastic host and was able to help us catch some more cod and pull up prawns for dinner. If you ask him nicely and have a spare fish he can make bald eagles swoop down and feed off the water

Overall for the value, location and overall property it is an excellent place to stay. We had a great time fishing off the dock through the days and drinking coffee's and beers on the porch during the morning and evenings

      Lovely, amazing, awesom!

Left on 08/07/2011 for a stay in July 2011

My husband and I and our four sons stayed at Oyster Bay Waterfront Retreat in July. We had high expectations, but our experience outshone our expectations in every regard.

The setting is one of the most beautiful in the world, as the home is on the water in a sheltered bay surrounded by mountains. The level yard catches the sun all day long.

We played badminton on the wildflower-bordered lawn, went swimming off the dock, and hiked the nearby hills whenever we weren't admiring them from our balcony.

The accommodations were so elegant that at first I thought we'd booked into a five star Hilton. The master bathroom has an oval jacuzzi soaker tub and king size bed, for example, and the kitchen comes with everything you'd need to host a wedding reception, including a 6 burner stove, triple sink, and every gleaming pot, pan, and dish imaginable. And of course, the view from every room was breathtaking.

However, we quickly discovered that the accommodations are family-friendly as well as stunning. There is plenty of space for board games, lounging, or curling up in front of the tv. We could have a board game going on inside, a badminton game outside, and there would still be a quiet space left for someone to catch a nap.

I'd recommend this retreat for families or couples who would like to feel pampered while they enjoy a gorgeous waterfront experience. It would also be an amazing place for a wedding!

This retreat is a 5 minute drive from the village of Madeira Park, where there is a bookstore and an IGa and a pharmacy. The property is safe for younger children and the in-suite washer and dryer enable you to be outside looking at starfish with your kids while your clothes are drying.

We found it easy to reach Dale (one of the owners) by phone or email, and she was so helpful and friendly that by the time we left we felt we had stayed in a friend's home, not a stranger's, even though we've never met her in person.
