New 2 bedroom & 2 bathroom apartment perched on a beautiful hillside in PeƱiscola, a small, historic town in Spain located on the coast in Castellon Province, 90 minutes north of Valencia. The master bedroom has a double bed, and the 2nd bedroom has a bunk bed (2 X single). The futon in the salon sleeps 1-2 more if necessary. Fully furnished kitchen (refrigerator, oven, stove), and a clothes washing machine. The two separate terraces each overlook a private community pool and a larger public pool, with a stunning view of the historic PeƱiscola castle ("Castillo Templario Ponteficio") and the sea. The beaches are a pleasant 15 minute walk fr...om the apartment through a quiet, scenic residential area. The apartment includes a dedicated parking space, and a private garden with a BBQ grill and picnic table. PeƱiscola is a resort town, offering a thriving, multi-cultural atmosphere from late June through early September, complete with numerous local festivals and celebrations typical in Spain. For instance, an international-scale jazz festival is usually held in July, having featured such legends as B.B. King in the past. Early August always marks the return of the Baroque Music Festival, accompanied by a spectacular musical fireworks show. In mid-September, PeƱiscolaā€™s patron saint festival (Virgen de Ermitana) lasts for two weeks, and is a festival to end all festivals, including traditional Spanish dances, bull fights, music, fireworks, exhibitions, and horse parades! These and other festivals held throughout the year help the town pack a punch. The apartment is located in the "Las Atalayas" neighborhood, less than 1 km. from the historic city center of PeƱiscola. A small pool is available down one flight of stairs from the apartment, shared by a few other families in the small complex. Right across the street is a large public pool which only charges 1 Euro per person for all day use, and includes a restaurant, bar, game room, and a tennis court. Your private parking spot is one flight of steps up from the apartment.

A favorite activity for many is to walk or bike along the 5 km beach boardwalk which stretches north from PeƱiscola, showcasing a beautifully kept, pristine sandy beach. Bikes are available for rent in various locations. There are family-friendly sections of the beach closer to town, or less populated sections better for adults to the north. Numerous rocky coves can be found heading south from PeƱiscola. You can also explore a hidden mountain castle or a monastery by hiking or mountain biking through the "Parc Natural de la Serra d'Irta." Many enjoy just spending the day on the panoramic beaches, lounging in the pool area, or exploring the many shops and restaurants along the rustic, quaint streets of the "casco antiguo" (historic, old part of the town). Fantastic day or overnight trips by car include Valencia (90 minutes), Barcelona (120 minutes), Morella (100 minutes), Delta de Ebro (45 minutes), Teruel (120 minutes), etc. PeƱiscola is a superb vacation destination, either as an ultimate destination, or as part of a tour of Spain.
