What can I say about our stay at Thorn Park on the Island. We arrived about a week ago, and there is always some hesitation when arriving at your chosen lodgings but as soon as we pulled up in the car and saw all the wildlife surrounding the house, the beautiful deck and the magnificent view, we knew we had chosen well (or at least Mum had!!!). But once we got inside we couldn't believe how spacious and beautifully furnished it was and that David and Michael had thought of everything. They obviously enjoy this house and use it a lot, there are a lot of books, music, movies and artworks that reflect them and to allow us to share all of that was so generous. Mum delighted in the books, Dad in the music (big opera fan) and the children in the fact that they had the wallabies to feed every night. We leave tomorrow but it has been such a joy to stay in this special home in the lovely Penneshaw. Ki is wonderful and we have enjoyed every minute. We highly recommend Seal Bay, Admirals arch, Remarkable Rocks, Kelly Hill Caves, BushGetaway adventures with the inspiring Ben and his dream for the future. We will be back.

Sitting on the deck at Thorn Park on the Island, the four of us raised our glasses to our hosts and were glad that they had decided to rent this lovely property. The house is beautifully decorated, the kitchen well appointed and the layout very comfortable for the two couples. We were very glad we had booked to stay for 4 nights as it gave us plenty of touring time and time to relax/read/watch the sea.
We arrived on the island with goodies from the adelaide central market and were able to organise other grocery items from the KI stores. To support local producers, we decided to buy our wine from the different wineries on the Island. We loved the Sunset winery's Sparkling Shiraz.
Kangaroo Island is australia's 3rd largest island and it abounds with wildlife. While you can visit so many of these animals in a park, it is great to see them in the wild and to appreciate the natural world in which they exist. You must have a vehicle to tour the island and be prepared for some longer drive days to visit all the different tourist attractions. -

We loved our first visit to the island in no small measure because of the quality of the accommodation provided. Wallabies queuing up at dusk for a feed, beautifully quiet spot, great ocean view, all mod cons, great selection of books, Dvds, vinyl and CDs. You can't help but love the place and want to come back!

I've recently stayed at 'Thorn Park on the island' in Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. The house is beautifully furnished, beds are superbly comfortable. The house is positioned on the hill overlooking the bay where the ferry docks. What a view! You can sit on the wide deck watching Island life below you in the Bay or just sit (with your glass of wine) and watch the Tamar wallabies that come to the house boundary to drink water. If you are lucky you may even see the resident kangaroos of the region and maybe the albino one also. The sun streams onto the deck but also into the living area...a wonderful place to read, feel warm and relax, letting the stress of work, traffic and city life melt away. If you want to venture from the house (but why would you when you are so comfortable and cosy) there are plenty of sights to see, coffee shops and places to eat. I've been lucky enough to stay at TP on the island several times and I'd love to return.
