Our unit was very nice, clean and enjoyable. The bed is very comfortable. You have everything you need like dishes and towels. Tried to watch several movies on the dvd player, It kept freezing the movies so Did not like that at all. Tv is old in both rooms. A little black mold on the inside shower liner and in the caulking. I did the rental office about it. So they said they would take care of it. I had a very nice stay there. We did have a huge palmetto bug try to occupy our unit in the kitchen...But my husband sucked him up in the vacuum. Over all a very enjoyable stay. I left some dish liquid. You have to get laundry soap and toilet paper for your own purpose. Hope to stay there again. Oh it is a upstairs unit.

The unit was nice. Just needs a couple things...some mildew in the grout in the shower needs fixed up. Laundry baskets would be nice to have in the bathroom to help when doing laundry while staying there, other units have had them, just makes it easier. We couldn't get the dvd player to work in the family room so we had to watch a couple movies we brought in the bedroom. A digital thermostat would be nice to so that we could appropriately leave the unit at 75 as requested. The whole place seemed different than last year, i.e. the office only open on Friday and Saturday for a couple hours, parking was at a premium, especially when you couldn't find a spot by your condo building. The pool was great as always, just had no one there to keep an eye on teens, they were jumping into the pool from the top of the rocks above the waterfall and we were concerned they were going to get hurt. We really enjoyed our stay last year and enjoyed ourselves this year too, just seemed different. It is a great away from home place to stay and even though I was sick, it was nice to have a quiet place to rest!

We loved our stay at the Purple Parrot. We stayed in the "Parrot Perch" and were very pleased with the condo. We had plenty of space to rest and relax. The pool here is awesome, the kids and I loved it. Everyone was very friendly; we had no issues at all. I would highly recommend staying here. We will for sure be back!

The Purple Parrot is a charming resort with an amazing lagoon-type pool area. We were very pleased with our unit. It was exceptionally clean and very nicely decorated. After shopping around, it was one of the best rates I found for a long mother/daughter weekend and was well worth the money. The staff was exceptional. In fact, at 11:30 one night, we realized we locked our keys in our unit and had to call the property manager to help. He was totally accomodating and as pleasant as ever. My only complaint is that the resort is not on the beach; but it is only a 5 minute drive to Johnson Beach or the public beach which are both very nice. I've considering returning for an extended family vacation as there is ample space poolside for all to gather and many tiki huts and picnic tables where we could mingle. Nice sandy volleyball courts too.
Great value for the money. -

We recommend the place. However couple of issues: the apt could use newer furniture.
Also you can not have your own water by the pool, the waiter from the restaurant that is located by the pool told us that if we want water we have to get it from them! -

We stayed at the Purple Parrot for three nights. The condo was very comfortable and the resort very nice and clean. What we did not like was that the pool was adjacent to a bar ( pool and bar are not owned by the Purple Parrot), the pool was not family friendly because of the bar atmosphere. The bar is open to the public and the pool is the walk thru to the bar. One cannot bring any beverage to the pool area including a bottle of water!!!

The condo was emaculent! After speaking with some of the other guests at the resort, we had the best condo by far! 5 stars to the condo!
We were a little disappointed by the lack of a military discount we were told would be honored. And by the failure of the staff to provide additional bathroom supplies as requested.Response from Perdido Key Resort Management - 09/27/2010

Thanks for the feedback. I am glad that you enjoyed your time here at the resort. Those who are stationed in the area on active duty military orders which choose to stay here at the Purple Parrot are eligible to have all taxes waived from the reservation. We do not have a military discount available for short-term online vacation rentals, but next time please call the office and if there is a discount to be applied we will certainly help to find them for you. Regarding the toiletries; the housekeeping provides a start up supply and the guest is responsible for anything beyond the initial supply. If it is an emergency we do have toilet paper in the office. Thanks again for the review and I hope to see you again! Kindest Regards, JD Hallam PKRM Rental Manager

Left on 08/02/2010 for a stay in July 2010
This was our 2nd year to stay at the Purple Parrot. Jd does a fantastic job and we have no complaints with his management. Leah also does an extremely good job. We had a small problem when all of the power in our unit went out right after I had taken a shower but JD and Leah immediately cured the problem by relocating us to another unit. We will return again in the future. The Tiki bar is under new managment and we are thrilled that a restaurant will be opening on the premises in the near future. Our only suggestion is that the price for mixed drinks is too high for the serving you receive and we think coolers should be allowed when you are laying out by the pool. The entertainment in the Tiki bar this year was excellent and Kyle Parker should be booked again and again.

We selected the Purple Parrot Village Resort and the "Parrot Perch" in particular after extensive internet research on places to stay in the Pensacola area (Pensacola Beach to Gulf Shores, AL) and were not disappointed. The value was fantastic and the amenities were comparable to Time-shares we have in Sedona, AZ and Park City, UT. As we were visiting our son, who is in training at NaS Pensacola, it was very convenient to his bachelor pad and access to the NaS, Exchange & Commissary. We even saw some of the Blue angels practice from our front porch! The only thing I would change if it were possible would be to have the unit's parking space identified and reserved in front of the unit. The closest we could usually park was down near the office area, which is no problem unless you have a lot of baggage or groceries to carry to the unit.

We had a really nice time staying here. The property itself was very nice and J.D., the manager, was very courteous and readily available for assistance. The "Parrot Perch" Condo was very well decorated, well equipped, clean, and comfortable. The resort has quick access to groceries, liquor, and pharmacies.
Our neighbors, and the proprietors of the Tiki Bar, were very friendly and made us feel right at home. The Tiki Bar has a great, laid back atmosphere, and is a perfect finish to a busy day, with entertainment most every night.
Both a State Park beach area and public beach access are close. The beaches were quiet, and as pretty as we expected from Florida beaches.
By off the beaten path, we mean that on Perdido Key, there were only a couple of open air patio bars and restaurants within a mile radius.
We had to go to Gulf Shores and/or Pensacola Beach to into the thick of things that were more like a lively beach city resort atmosphere. This takes about 25 minutes in opposite directions.
Not bad, but not what we were expecting.
The only disappointing aspect of staying at Purple Parrot were no scenic views at all.
Although, in the evenings, it was nice to sit quietly on the porch and watch the moon rise.
We had to really search the whole area to find a patio to sit and watch the sunset. With helpful info, from the people we met at Purple Parrot, we did find a couple of places.
All in all, if you are looking for a nice place to slow down and catch some much needed solitude and R&R, Purple Parrot on Perdido Key is a great place to stay.
Sincerely,

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I am glad that you enjoyed the condo as I like this one as well. I would have liked to been able to point you in the direction for atmosphere you were in search of. The island has several great restaurants, a several nightlife venues, and countless places for breathtaking views in the afternoons. It is true that the island does not cater to a wild nightlife scene, although there is an array of places to enjoy a cocktail whether at a bar or waterfront Perdido Key restaurant. Just to name a few; the Oyster Bar, Sunset Grill, Crab Trap, and Cobalt all have great food each with their own unique flare and are footsteps from the water. Nightlife can be enjoyed listening to live music on the weekends at the Tiki Bar, The Reef, The Jellyfish Bar, or any day at the FloraBama. My favorite views are those from of the Intracoastal Waterway at sunset although most of our guests prefer the big red, orange, pink, and blue horizon at sunset or sunrise as seen from a spot on the beach. All of this considered, yes we are still a good place to come and relax as we hope to be popular with the families throughout the year. Give me a call and next time I will try to setup a sample itinerary for you. Thanks again! Best Regards from the beach - JD Hallam Rental Manager

Left on 07/29/2009 for a stay in July 2009
This was our 4th overall stay and our 2nd stay in the Parrot Perch. Even though it is located right in the middle of the complex, it was still very quite and peaceful almost all the time.
We enjoyed the swimming pool, especially the waterfall and the chance to layout and relax.
The Condo was fine -- no major problems at all. The front door top lock is a little tricky, but nothing major.
We stayed for 2 weeks this time. We like the atmosphere, the Tiki Bar--because we like to dance;the intermingling with so many other guests, and of course, the friendly manner and leadership of John Hallen. He is an excellent ambassador for your Property and exudes deep care and courtesy towards all. The fact that I live in Baton Rouge and that he attended LSU didn't hurt either.
We'll be back again and again.

We have been going to Perdido Key for years now, but it was our first stay at the Purple Parrot. I was very impressed. The cottage was very comfortable and quiet, even though we were fairly close to the pool area. The pool was great. The only thing we missed having was the hot tub. We sat in it and it was just lukewarm, we asked a few people and were told that they don't put it on during the summer because they want to keep the kids out of it? Not sure, what the real reason was, but maybe on our next visit it will be usuable. We stayed at the Parrot Perch cottage. The owners left an umbrella, chairs and rafts to take to the beach. This was much appreciated! I have read reviews that some of the owners leave a pass for Johnson's Beach, this would be a nice addition as well. All in all, we had a great time and it was very relaxing, would defintely reccommend to friends and family.

We really enjoyed our stay. This was an affordable, enjoyable place to stay. We plan on staying here in the future. The office staff were friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was when we returned our pool passes on the day of checkout. There was nobody available in the office when we returned our passes, so we left them in the drop box. We were then notified that our passes were not returned, and that we would be charged for them. This was cleared up after we spoke to the office staff a few days later.

I have previously stayed at one of the premises at Purple Parrot and had a great experience. This time it was just ok as the place we rented (THE PARROT PERCH 6AU) was worn with no modern amenities. It did not feel like a vacation house as the owner's clothes were still in the dresser drawers as well as their toiletry kit in the bathroom. I would not rent this unit again.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback. The two bathing suits and toiletry kit were a mistake on our part and I apologize. I hope that you will return and please ask for JD when making your reservation. I will ensure you are placed in a condo with a decor more to your taste. Thank you again and I hope that the warm weather soon finds its way north to St. Louis.

Great location near the pool but not directly on top of it. This was a nice size
villa that had all the comforts of home. This complex is not another high rise
condo community. It is a relaxing, private, carribean themed community that
provides the perfect setting for a great vacation. Perdido is small beach
community that provides tons of access to the national seashoreand some of
the most pristine beaches around. The Naval air museum, located about 20
minutes away, is a nice way to spend the day and brings you just a little
closer to the well known Blue Angels. We found something for all of us here
and enjoyed some great family memories.

This was our third visit and we are planning our fourth. This place felt like home only better because of it's close proximity to the beach and wonderful restaurants. We were very comfortable and had more amenities than we expected (floats for the incredibly beautiful swimming pool, beach chairs and more) Next time I will bring more beach towels. The home has been maintained extremely well and is the perfect home away from home.

We visted this property during the week of 4th of July. Even though this was a very busy vacation week, we found that the property was still a quiet get-away, even though it was booked up. Everyone was very friendly and we really enjoyed out stay. Only mins to the beach and several good places to eat. The Oyster Bar was our favorite, we ate there twice. This unit is only steps to the pool and nicely decorated. We would have stayed longer if the unit was available.
