New Iberia, LouisianaDoubtful will stay in this complex again
Left on 11/25/2012 for a stay in November 2012
1st people at Southern Vacation are very nice and are were good to deal with, however the property I was not impressed with. The unit we stayed in had two issues we discovered as soon as we checked in. 1st was the toilet in the master would constantly cycle and the internet was not operable. A call to Southern and quickly someone showed up which was great. Was told that the owner was in the week before and was having internet problems but was able to sign using another units signal. So they knew the internet was a problem a week before we arrived and did nothing. Was able to sign on using another units signal but it was weak and slow when loading larger files. This was a working vacation for me so I expressed to the maint man that I needed a good signal. Was told he would come back and fix it. 2nd issue was the toilet in the master would run and constantly cycle. Maint said he adjusted the valve and would be back to fix internet and toilet. 7 days later and no repairs made. Again they knew about the internet issue before we arrived.
Now for the unit. Interesting layout which we liked. Great views from living room, bedroom and interesting enough from the bathroom. Refrigerator works great, will freeze water and ice tea easily, and if you like beer well I can tell you it will be cold. That is the good. Bad ranges from cheap plastic fixtures on cabinets/doors, easy to pinch yourself when closing pantry, be careful. not much for pots, pans. Actually if you want to fry eggs bring a good skillet as they don't have one and since we were there duing colder times we were going to cook a gumbo or soup but could not find a good size pot. Dvd in living room remains a mystery as how to operate which was not a big deal, but still a problem. If someone stays in the unit above you and moves a chair you will be well aware of it. Seems like for our week the folks above us constantly moved chairs and sure made a lot of racket.
If you are interested in grilling they do not make it easy. One pit hidden off to the side of the unit and has not been cleaned in a long time. Was planning on grilling a nice steak but passed when I finally found the pit. The number of codes you need to remember is crazy. One for front gate, one for beach access, one for elevator, etc. If you had a few folks in different units on different floors would really be a pain, as each floor has an elevator code which is the floor plus 3 numbers. Add that to all the other codes and it is just crazy. Last big issue is since it was Nov we were looking forward to use of the indoor pool and not tub. Well both are located between the middle and west building and is an outdoor pool with a cover built over it. Requires you walk a good distance outdoors to get to the pool/hot tub. Kind of misses the point of being an indoor pool.
Recap, nice rental company, poor complex. -

The condo was great!!! Nice size bedrooms ,a wonderful balcony, as all the condos @ beach colony have, the extra room just makes it so much nicer. My wife and tried all week to figure out how to get our bed @home down here so we could swap out! The view from the.bathroom was just amazing, As for my family, beach colony is the only place we'll stay from now on!

The condo was overall pretty good however the bathrooms did have some issues. One of the toilets had issues and one shower had a slow leak. And they were a little dated. But the service guy did come and fix the issues as quick as they could. The beds were not all that great, firm beds and thin sheets. However, the pool area was very nice and it is right on the beach. And the property seemed secure.

Except for not being able to figure out the DVD player (a personal problem, I think), we had a wonderful experience. Everything we needed was there; the accomodations are beautiful. We spent most of our time on the balcony, especially in the evenings. Hope to stay in 9C again - it was perfect.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Beach Colony (9C East). The condo was very nice and the 2 full size beds in the second bedroom were really appreciated by our teenagers. We will try to stay in this unit again on our next trip.

The condo was large and roomy. The beds were comfortable. The amenities were nice. The view of the ocean/beach is magnificent! The pool area and grounds are well kept. The pool is large and has plenty of lounge chairs. The boardwalk to the beach is well maintained and is only a short walk from the pool area. One thing that I think could be improved is the passcode system. We had to memorize 3 different codes. One for the front gate, one for the elevator, and one for the beach gate. It was hard the first few days to remember all the codes. It would help if you could lessen the amount of codes. The toilet in the master bath did not flush properly. We checked in on Saturday evening and called on Sunday to notify your office that the commode would not flush. I was told by the man who answered the phone that he would put in a work order. We never saw or heard from anyone regarding the toilet. It still did not work as late as Wednesday. We tried flushing it every day thinking that perhaps someone came to fix it while we were out at the beach. I think it was Thursday or Friday that we finally noticed it would flush. This was poor service in my opinion. The unit is in need of a paint job. It appears that someone tried to touch up the walls but the paint doesn't match and therefore the walls look pretty spotty. Othewise, I was pleased with my stay.

We choose a bad week to come to Perdido Key. We had rainy weather and the tarballs came in pretty good the week we were there. We still spent time on the beach and did a little more shopping than usual while we were there this year. The Condo was great. We couldn't cancel due to vacation times at work. We will be back in the area next year.

Pointe South Rentals made the experience so easy, from the time I booked the condo, until we checked out. I wish that check out was a little later. I have always booked with another realty company, but I will use Pointe South in the future.

My husband and I and our son and daughter-in-law loved our stay at Beach Colony E9C. We enjoyed the fact that we could fix our own breakfast in the condo, go right out to the beach, come back in for lunch and go right back out to the beach without ever having to get in our car. The condo provided everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation. Everything was very clean and the condo was well equipped. We will definitely recommend Beach Colony to our friends!

This was our third consecutive year in Perdido Key and our second year at the Beach Colony. We love the location, the units and the amenities (great gym, nice pool, great balcony, close to the state beach etc). The only suggestion I have (for Unit E9C) is to provide a window covering in the master bath. While the view is truly amazing, one does feel a little exposed - and you can see in from the beach during a certain time of day!! (We tested it). Other than that, the unit was comfortable and we had another fabulous vacation.

We arrived at the Beach Colony not knowing what to expect. The accommodation and grounds of the building exceeded our expectations. The condo was exceptionally clean and smartly decorated. The ocean view and balcony were wonderful. In addition to the wonderful accommodation we appreciated having Hope provide answers to our questions and make suggestions for sites to visit and restaurants for dining. I would rank this a 5 star vacation facility.
