Thank you to Shirley & Douglas who made our group stay enjoyable. The service was exceptional and nothing was a problem. I knowt the girls enjoyed having the garage to use as a games room which was great as we had some bad weather.

We (a family of 6 adults and 2 young children) were warmly greeted by Shirley when we arrived at Istana alfred Cove on 18 Mac 2013.
The interior designs and furnishings of the house were carefully thought through by Shirley and Douglas. We felt warm and cozy, just like a home away from home.
We enjoyed ourselves with the wide selections of Karaoke genre. They even have selections for young children! My eldest daughter sang to her heart's content.
Cooking was not an issue. Full range of cooking utensils and equipment were provided. We cooked porridge for our youngest daughter and they even provided us with a food blender!
Young and old do not have problem adjusting to new beds as they were most comfortable.
Both Shirley and Douglas were friendly and generous with their advice.

What else to describe this wonderful vacation home that has not already been mentioned?
From the cleaniness of the place, the wonderful family like lay-out of the house, the safe environment it provides (this is important if you are in a foreign country, and not familiar with its surroundings), the location to places of interests around Perth.
We were a mix age group of 8, comprising of 3 young adults, 3 senior adults, and 2 children (3.5 yrs and 15 mths). All of us felt very comfortable and cosy in this home.
We managed to do grocery shopping and cooked for some of the meals in the home, especially breakfast.
The kitchen comes fully equiped, and they even have a blender (for my youngest porridge).
The rooms were very neat and clean, beds was very comfortable (did I mention the electric blanket?).
You can also do laundry as there is a washing machine, dryer and detergent & softener provided.
Like to bring your own DVD/Blu-ray along for your holiday?
No problems, as they have a great home theatre set as well.
Like to sing karaoke songs? they have it as well.
Like to play piano and guitar? yes, they have it as well.
Wifi? Laptop? - sure, not an issue.
Definitely a place to remember.

We booked Istana Cove when my family of 8 came over for my graduation. We stayed there for 4 nights and had an absolutely amazing time in the house. Istana Cove was definitely the best accommodation we've put up at with absolute privacy and convenience. The house comes equipped with almost everything you can think of, catering for all sorts of groups. The furnishing was also of high quality and everything was very well maintained. During our stay, there was nothing we lacked and there was always something for us to do in the house (mahjong table, table tennis, board games, piano, track mill, BBQ, etc). In addition, Shirley was an absolute pleasure to talk to, always making sure that we were well looked after and helping us with anything we required. All in all, our entire family loved this place so much it was one of the best things of our trip. If another opportunity arises, we will definitely stay at Istana Cove again. Thank you Shirley and Douglas for such an amazing hospitality and accommodation!

Very spacious, comfortable, clean home,well equipped with everything you need to feel at home!
Good location, a 10-15 minutes drive to Perth CBD, accessible public transport, short stroll to river side, etc.
I would highly recommend Istana alfred Cove if you are thinking of visiting Perth. It can accommodate up to 11 people in the house and it is not easy to come by a house which can fit a big group in Perth. This is our first visit to Perth. A friend recommended Istana alfred Cove because of her very good experience. We were travelling with our 23-month daughter and a close friend. Considerations are safety, cleanliness and privacy. We are glad to have stayed at Istana alfred Cove!
After a long drive from Monkey Mia to Perth, we were warmly welcomed by Shirley. She gave us a quick tour round the house. Everything needed were catered for: clean & comfortable beds, food for breakfast, fruits, full kitchen & laundry utility, entertainment sets & Dvds, wifi,..., and even a laptop! My daughter was delighted to find a 'rocking cow' next to the piano!
This house is well designed and maintained. The rooms are spacious and safe. My daughter enjoyed running and exploring in the house. We agreed this is home-away-from-home, and beyond... our dream home!

We had a large family of 11 and Istana alfred Cove was one of the only few places that were able to accommodate us. Shirley was an excellent host, she took time to introduce us to our surroundings and the various amenities of the property. The amenities provided were by far the best we have had throughout our travels in australia. Plenty of space, excellent entertainment systems and the property is in an immaculate condition. My family loved the property and there is plenty of room for 11.
The only downside is that we did not actually took time to explore our surroundings because we were on a busy and tight schedule to travel around Perth. I must say that we regret not going for a walk along the river which is just right opposite the property.

We arrived very late in the night and Shirley was there to welcome us. The place is clean and warmly decorated. I appreciated the free wifi with good speed. The kitchen is well equipped and there are fruits, bread, jam, coffee & tea supplied. The beds are comfortable. The house comes with it's own garage and this is great since we drive. The location is rather central. I truely felt at home.

This is a well deserved and long overdued review. Today marks the anniversary of our family's visit to Perth, our unforgettable stay at Istana alfred Cove.
Was reading the reviews by a.W. Thoo and Boon & Wei, they are like words we would dictate to them for a wonderful and unforgettable stay at Istana alfred Cove. One big detail was missing, breakfast provided not only include fresh milk and bread, there were also jam, coffee, tea and fruits.
We felt right at home the minute we stepped into the house and Shirley was like a long lost friend rather than a host!
Our flight gets in early, Shirley and Douglas were more than happy to let us in!
We highly recommend this wonderful oasis to any families or groups visiting Perth to stay, look no further, this is the place!

This is the first time I returned to Perth after my graduation 15 years ago. I brought along my family and there were a total of 7 of us. The Istana alfred Cove was the best place for our 1 week stay in Perth. We booked the place through internet after reading good reviews from other guests. The reservation experience was simple and easy, and the good impression lasted all the way through. The location of Istana alfred Cove was very good, along the Canning highway, facing the Swan river. The house is very clean and tidy. The kitchen is fully equipped and Shirley provided fresh milk and bread as breakfast. The rooms are also very comfy. My little nephew loved the karaoke room and the wide selection of songs. While we also enjoy the free wifi facility to keep in touch with our love ones in Malaysia using video call. Very convenient indeed. This is definitely the recommended place for those of you who are looking for a short term stay in Perth!

I had been visiting Perth a couple of times since graduating many years ago, and this trip was the first time I'm bring my extended family (9 of us in total).
After searching a few weeks online for a holiday home, we decided on the Istana alfred Cove.
Shirley was very helpful right from the start, answering all our queries promptly.
I was familiar with the location of the house as it was right next to the KFC I used to go to 20 years ago. It is conveniently located near some of the malls, near to Fremantle (10mins drive), and not too far from the city (20mins drive).
The rental house is hidden behind another house where Shirley stays. It is a very new and well maintain house, with a master bedroom and 3 smaller bedrooms.
There are 2 family rooms with huge LCD TVs to entertain everyone, as well as a fully equipped kitchen (we cooked a lot) and a dining area.
Free Wifi is available, including a laptop for guests to use for free.
The garage can house 2 cars, though we did not have to use it as there was a security gate with remote to ensure your cars are safe. Shirley even set up the table-tennis table for us when she found that we weren't parking in the garage.
Service was impeccable, as Shirley readily provided any information we requested for, and we had fresh bread and milk waiting for us when we arrived.
Everyone enjoyed the stay at this location, and we already know where we will be staying the next time we visit Perth again :)Response from Istana Alfred Cove - 01/23/2013

Boon and Wei are certainly not new to Perth. However, this is their first time travelling with family and relatives. They certainly made themselves at home staying at Istana Alfred Cove. They went to the famous wholesale markets at Canning Vale to buy the freshest fruits and vegies to cook as well as take alot home to Singapore. It is less than 20 minutes drive to this famous weekend market.
Boon and Wei hold many fond memories of Perth from their younger student days. It is indeed delightful to see them relive the memories with their children and relatives. The family enjoyed the table-tennis and board games provided. We also offered to set up the mahjong table.

The owner, Shirley & Douglas are great and professional. Their service is 5*. I will definitely go back to this place if I happen to be in Perth again. They have a nice clean kitchen and they prepare and organised my sister's surprise birthday party very well. Put it this way, they will make everything is possible. Me and my family had a wonderful time at shirleys bungalow. It was beautifully furnished and clean. My children enjoyed the house and had everything we needed. we cooked our meals and felt like home. the surrounding was transport was easily accesible. thanks to shirley and douglas for being good host and helpful. if we come back to perth we would surely stay in istana alfred cove.

My family rented this place for about 2 weeks in February. We were in town for my brother's graduation. Istana alfred Cove was perfect for all 6 of us. There was a garage, two separate living areas, a dining area, a porch and even a piano. All 3 bedrooms were clean, beds were soft and we had everything we needed. The kitchen was fantastic and well-equipped - we spent a lot of evenings making our own meals. They even had a barbecue set for us to use. The owner also provided bread, cooking oil and milk.
We rented a car so travelling about was not difficult for us. The location was great and we could access the city as well as other suburbs very easily.

First of all the owner ( Shirley and Douglas), they are very friendly. The house itself is fully equip with all the necessary item for eg: plates. utensils, bbq pit, a kitchen to cook, nice electric blanket and nice samsung TV too. I stayed there with 8 of my friends in the house for 7 nights. The location is quite convenient ( near to bus stop and KFC fast food). Overall, i rate Istana 5 stars. I will definitely stay in Istana again if I have a to visit Perth again, this is one of the best accommodation i've ever stayed during my vacation. . I strongly recommend Istana alfred Cove as a place to stay to all who visited Perth.

My family and I were very pleased with Istana alfred Cove. Not only was the tastefully decorated house very nice and clean, the owners were very pleasant and accomodating. This is the closest one would get to home.
Location was great too as it is only abt 12 minutes fm the city, 15 minutes to Fremantle and like 5 minutes to a major shopping centre

I stayed in Shirley's beautiful house for three nights with my family and friends. The house is absolutely new, clean, tidy and nicely decorated.
We did cooking in the kitchen everyday, amazingly Shirley got everything ready in her house.
I will definitely stay in Shirley house again if I visit Perth in the future, it is the best house I have ever stayed in my international travels.

I have the great pleasure to stay in Istana alfred Cove for 3 days and must thank hosts Douglas and Shirley for their warmest hospitality and the use of their cosy 4-bedroom guesthouse. The modern decor is tastefully done up and easy on the eye. Creature comforts await when one comes home with the guesthouse stocked with basic foodstuffs, ready Internet/ Wifi access and equipped with a Karaoke/ Home Theatre system. Location is convenient as it is relatively near to Perth International airport, easy to find on the map, and just a short drive away from the City Centre and other amenities. It definitely helps that the rental of the guesthouse is easy on the pocket. I will highly recommend Istana alfred Cove to all who will like to explore Perth while looking for a home away from home to stay in during their trip.

Place is well-maintained with full kitchen facilities. The interior decor makes it a conducive place to relax and take time to sever the fantastic Perth weather. The river that is within walking distance gives the place an added facility - the convenience to observe nature and capture some of the winged wildlife in Perth. One could sight kookaburas, pelicans and black swans, among other species of birds, as one walks along the perimeter of the river.

A brand new property, nice and comfortable holiday home with 4 bedrooms. Owner planted several fruit trees within the compound. ( apple, longan, pears, etc ). Bbq facility provided.
Good location, along Canning Highway. Within walking distance to KFC and big park in front of home.

The stay at Istana was really fun! With so many rooms, I got to fit my whole family in the house, and the best thing was that we got to do so many things together: Karaoke, Ping-Pong, Mah Jong, piano+guitar, and the old school snake & ladder... it made our stay there so memorable we didn't want to leave.
It was just a few minutes walk away from awesome Fish & Chips, and a lovely park to have a relaxing stroll.
