Immerse yourself into all that Umbria has to offer by booking your next holiday at Il Casale di Mele. Secluded yet easily accessible, Il Casale di Mele is the perfect setting, providing the tranquility of the countryside but within easy reach of E45 which leads to many famous hill towns as well as parts of Tuscany. Just 5 years old, the farmhouse was built with authentic regional materials including antique doors, heavy chestnut beams, hand forged ironwork and antique stone fireplaces. The house was completely redecorated and newly furnished in 2009. The farmhouse sleeps 6 plus 2.

Typical of country villas, there is no central air condi...tioning, however the thick stone walls and screened windows allow the villa to remain cool even during the hottest months of the year. The screened windows allow you to enjoy the fresh country air with scents of lavender, jasmine, and wild flowers wafting from room to room.

Il Casale di Mele is completely fenced and upon entering its iron gates you come up the circular driveway surrounded by wild lavender, rosemary, and olive trees. Once you enter inside the farmhouse, you walk into a large open living room complete with new comfortable furniture chosen to enhance the country atmosphere that is settled invitingly around the large antique wood burning fireplace. Along one wall hangs a large flat screen television with a DVD player and stereo. Two large windows sit at each side of the fireplace allowing you to enjoy views of the rolling hills behind the property even while you are indoors.

The living room is open to the large country kitchen which boasts a large center island that contains a high end gas cooktop. There is also a convection wall oven, a microwave oven, as well as a large commercial sized refrigerator freezer. The kitchen is bright and sunny with a large window over the sink that allows you to see for miles. The French style kitchen doors open to a large stone covered terrace with climbing sweet smelling jasmine surrounded by an olive trees. The terrace also holds a new table that seats 8 for dining al fresco as well as a barbeque for those evenings when you prefer to dine at home. There is another antique fireplace in the kitchen that is open to the dining room. The dining room is furnished with a large dining hutch as well as an antique table that seats 8 people comfortably.

From the other side of the living room you can access the study which holds a pull out couch that can open as a double bed tp sleep another two additional adults as needed. Down the hall, you come to a bedroom with a private en-suite bathroom. The bed is matrimonial size, which is slightly larger than a US Queen size bed. The en-suite bath has both a large tub as well as an enclosed shower.

Along the hall is another bathroom with an enclosed shower. Followed by this bathroom, is a second bedroom with twin beds. Both bedrooms contain large clothing closets and are newly painted and decorated with typical country style bed linens. The last room on the main floor is a large laundry room with a washing machine, drying hanger, ironing board, and iron.

The second story holds the third bedroom which has it’s own walk-in closet, and bathroom containing a large tub as well as a stand alone enclosed shower. This room also has its own private balcony which looks out over the green rolling Umbrian countryside, and is a perfect spot to sit each evening and watch the stunning sunsets while enjoying a delicious glass of Umbrian wine.

Next to the house contained by a gated fence is the large three level pool and huge stone sunbathing terrace. The pool is equipped with a warm water shower, lounge chairs and umbrellas. The pool terrace allows views of the scenic rolling Umbrian hills behind and looks up at Collazzone, the small town above.

High Season Rates for 2010 & 2011 : 3000 euros per week/Deposit required 30% at booking unless week requested is 8 weeks or earlier from the time of reservation. At that time, full payment is required.

Low Season for 2010 & 2011 : 2700 euros per week/Deposit required 30% at booking unless week requested is 8 weeks or earlier from the time of reservation. At that time, full payment is required.

Driving distances from Il Casale di Mele to some of Umbria’s famous hill towns as well as parts of Tuscany. Note these distances were determined using Google maps, but we have noticed times were often much shorter than indicated.

Is a booking deposit required?
A deposit of 30% in euros is required to hold your reservation at time of booking. Final payment must be completed 8 weeks before arrival at Il Casale di Mele. If booking is made 8 weeks or sooner to your arrival then the complete payment is needed at time of booking. If you place a deposit on a specific week and then need to change that date once your plans are finalized, as long as the new week you are interested in is also available we will accommodate you.

Is there a discount for multiple weeks booked?
Yes, please use the onsite contact form to ask for details.

What can we do if the week we are interested in is booked already?
Some folks place a deposit on specific weeks but then need to change their dates once their flights and final plans are completed. This may mean that the week you are interested in may open up so please email us for more information.

  We are a family of 4 who stayed for one week. The home is very clean and well appointed. Beds are very comfortable. There is a large kitchen with all necessary amenities. The owners live next door and are very welcoming and helpful. You are provided with a GPS that shows many local attractions and restaurants. The pool is private and clean. The area is charming and there is lots to do in the surrounding towns. We enjoyed the restaurants that were recommended by the owners. A lovely week in the country.

  Beautiful Umbria Countryside in peaceful setting!

  What a wonderful Italian countryside place to vacation. This lovely home includes a beautiful pool and pool deck and pack patio overlooking the Umbrian hillside and hilltop villages. The yard is filled with olive trees and fresh herbs so that if you want to cook your meals in the fantastic kitchen, you have these conveniences on hand. The house is spacious and comfortable and beautiful. The owners live close by and they are friendly and offer advice upon the asking of places to go and see. They even include a GPS loaded with directions on local sites, restaurants and towns. Made our trip so much easier. Highly recommend this lovely setting. A very pleasant alternative to Tuscany.

  Umbrian haven

  I stayed at Il Casale di Mele for 3 weeks in high summer and liked it so much that I immediately booked another 3 weeks in 2011. I have never been so impressed with a holiday villa that I have re-booked before. I was accompanied by family and friends with ages ranging from 4 to 60, and we all had a marvellous and truly memorable time.
  The house sits above a valley, giving stupendous views and a light breeze so that the heat (which was intense during our stay) was never oppressive. The house is beautifully built, furnished with flair and good taste, and always a cool haven. The pool, fenced poolside area and gardens are superb. The pool is unusually large and very safe for children. There is also a cupboard thoughtfully stocked with pool and garden toys to keep the little ones busy.
  Louie and Deborah were generous and thoughtful hosts: always on hand if we needed them but never intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They really know and love Italy and Umbria. They provided a great deal of useful information as well as delicious treats from Deb's kitchen and olive oil from their own trees. Their wine-tasting evening with delicious home-made canapes is definitely recommended.
  With the help of the pre-programmed GPS which Louie and Debs thoughtfully supply, we visited most of the beatiful hilltowns in the area (Todi, Assisi, Montefalco, etc) and one of the many vineyards nearby. On other days, we were just as happy to shop at the local grocer and spend lazy days by the pool and in the garden. Time stood still for a while, which is exactly what we wanted from our holiday!

  The Umbrian countryside with modern conveniences - molto bene!

  In Fall 2009, my husband and I along with 2 other couples enjoyed a week in Il Casale di Mele.
  
  The country villa was wonderful - beyond our expectations. Louie & Deborah are excellent hosts and are always available to answer any questions about the umbrian countryside, places to go and things to do. We enjoyed the wine tasting with our hosts and the hand-delivered tasty treats!
  
  The villa is beautiful - the rooms are spacious and breezy. While we had many meals in the local restaurants, we also cooked in the fabulous kitchen. We spent a few evenings on the patio and most afternoons pool-side to enjoy the countryside scenery.
  
  We enjoyed exploring the umbrian hill towns - each one is unique and intriquing. Perugia is close by (the villa is just off a major highway) and we also did a day-trip to Florence. The GPS provided by our hosts was invaluable and enabled us to enjoy the countryside without worry.
  Looking forward to coming back one day!

  We Dream of Umbria

  We visit Italy annually and stayed at Il Casale di Mele for a week last October. Everything about the farmhouse was to perfection. Farmhouse rustic in design, the house was actually a new structure with all the latest appliances and amenities which made our stay delightful. The rooms were large and quite comfortable. Because of the convenient location, we visited Perugia twice and also enjoyed the sites, shopping, wine, and cuisine of Orvieto, Norcia, Deruta, Todi and Montefalco. Since we used the preprogrammed GPS provided by the owners, we were never lost on our excursions. One would also enjoy just staying at the house and enjoying the views and serenity and all that the house has to offer. There is something for everyone from swimming to sunning, reading, walking, cooking, napping.
  
  Our family of women ranged in age from 60-86 and Il Casale di Mele met all of our needs and beyond. It was so reassuring to know that Deborah and Louie were nearby if we had any questions or difficulties. It was an easy drive from Rome, and one in our party took the train from Rome to Orvieto where we met her.
  
  We are returning for a week in October 2011 and cannot wait to taste Deborah's delicious culinary creations and visit with Louie as he tends to the flowers, rosemary and olive trees. Il Casale di Mele is truly a dream vacation spot.
