Additional Location Information
Villa Capanne sits in the 1,000-hectare private Antognolla estate, amid gentle rolling hills and centuries old Cypresses.
The colours in the valley represent the changing seasons, where itās fields, olive groves and vineyards are a small corner of paradise, where time appears to have stood still.
Within the estate there is a championship golf course, a wonderful restaurant just 5 mins walk and many walking trails through the woods providing a wonderful opportunity for those interested in the local flora and fauna.
Villa Capanne is situated in Northern Umbria close to the borders with Le Marche and Tuscany and only 15 minutes drive from the bustling university town of Perugia. Umbria, know as the āGreen Heartā of Italy, is a region rich in natural beauty representing great and ancient civilizations. Throughout the year, somewhere in Umbria, history is revived. Locals, and visitors alike are swept up in the contagious enthusiasm of medieval celebrations and festivals. Local markets are a weekly attraction in most towns and villages.
Umbriaās artistic and cultural calendar is packed full with events, many international, such as:

Melbourne - Australia"A Villa That Has It all"
Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in October 2012
In October 2012, we stayed with friends in this luxurious villa amidst stunning and changing views of the Umbrian countryside. We each had our own spacious bedroom and separate bathroom and enjoyed delicious meals sourced from local produce that we prepared ourselves in the very well appointed kitchen or we treated ourselves to lunch or dinner out at the golf club or at one of the many nearby restaurants that had been recommended by the owner. We felt secluded and private and enjoyed great times lounging by the pool and attractive garden/-walking and exploring nearby bushland trails or driving to quaint nearby villages to soak up the culture.
Everything was spotless and comfortable. The week went too fast but we felt we had had a truly unique Italian experience in a very special part of the Umbrian countryside. -

A truly fabulous location for our family . We enjoyed the stunning views from every aspect of the villa . The amenities were superb and the pool was talked about for months after. We loved touring the quant villages so close to the villa and discovering the hidden treasures they offered. The local produce which was evident in the amazing restaurants so close to the villa was a high light . An amazing Italian experience is offered by Villa Capanne and not to be missed

We stayed for over a week in September. The Villa is simply gorgeous with beautiful furniture and modern appliances. Overlooking the Golf Course and the hills of Umbria, this Villa is really something to stay in. I would stay again and again, as the ambience, the view and the history of the area is truly breathtaking.

Left on 02/01/2013 for a stay in October 2012
With six friends we stayed at Villa Capanne for eight days in October last year...and what a delightful stay it was. The villa itself with it's sense of medieval history and it authentic restoration catapulted us back into the 15 century and yet all the desired comforts of the the 21 century facilities were on hand. Feasting, laughter an frivolity were the order of the day...and night. The golf course location with restaurant, the medieval castle nearby, the quaint and unique villages a short drive away all made for a sensational stay. We would throughly recommend Villa Capanne to anyone wanting the best from a visit to Umbria.

Left on 01/21/2013 for a stay in December 2012
10 days in the luxury, yet homely Villa Capanne in Umbria.
It was the perfect Italian luxury village experience. While out of the traditional season and having done Tuscany before, expectations were high.We found this amazing 600+ year old villa overlooking mountains/golf course and a highlight was that it looked over a 1000 year old castle. It's a ten minute drive from the town on Pierantonio (on the GPS, 2.5 hours drive north east of Rome and very easy to get to.
The managers of Villa Capanne, David and Chrissy were very fast with their replies and were very exact with their information and details of the villa/ experience.
The villa is perfect for three to four families with practical spaces. It's entire fit out is like a home, not just a house. Add to this the huge outdoor BBQ area, in ground pool and upstairs rumpus room with snooker table/ table tennis, wifi and all the bells and whistles to ensure a great stay.
The villa is surrounded by 500 year old olive trees, neatly trimmed lavender bushes and the furthest villa being somewhere in the horizon. A highlight to this stay was nearby golf club which provides a tiny bar and restaurant open every night. The meals range from 6-14 Euros and are tasty. Try the poached egg with truffle shavings or the spaghetti with artichoke hearts; simple, cheap and delicious!
Try the following while there, we did!
Take the train to Florence (1 hr 20 mins).Grab a Rib Eye roast (8 Euros a kilogram) to take home.
Grab a Panini Porchetta
Espresso and croissant with the locals
Drive to Sienna (30 mins) &explore; the city
Drive to assisi (20 mins), explore the many small lane and boutique shops, artist galleries and sip aperol with the locals as the sun goes down.
Explore the city of Perugia. Indulge in the local chocolate
Visit the weekend markets in Umbertide. You will also find a well stocked supermarket called Coop. They have a god selection of wine
Enjoy this amazing villa and get away from the "have to go to Tuscany" mentality.

Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Our week stay at Villa Capanne was absolutely divine. The villa is set in incredible landscape, is super equipped with everything from kitchen facilities to laundry to bbq/poolside & is in fabulous location to magical Umbrian & Tuscan towns assisi, Perugia, Deruta, Cortona & a fun, easy train ride to Florence.
My son can't stop raving about the beautiful scenery that includes a historic castle within the golf course grounds!
I strongly recommend this fabulously maintained & beautifully restored property to any family/families that are looking for a marvellous Italian holiday experience!

Villa Capanne is just gorgeous, it is totally private and secluded and surrounded by a a wonderful golf course looking directly at the stunning antonella Castle. We spent most of our time lounging by the horizon pool - which is fabulous. We went on a family holiday - and there was plenty of room for all 10 of us to be together and also to escape each other - with Capennetta as a perfect retreat!! Chrissie and David are dream hosts and organised everything brilliantly for us - we even had a cook for some of the time. It is also brilliantly situated - close to the market town of Umbertide and the stunning city of Perugia; loads to get out and do whilst also being the perfect place to relax and do nothing! Can't wait to go again.

InverlochI'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Left on 11/12/2012 for a stay in December 2011
I think we had the perfect northern hemisphere Xmas staying at Villa Capanne. Waking up on Xmas morning while sleeping in Capannetta we looked out the window to see the whole countryside covered in white snow. It was like a scene from a postcard. This was followed a few days later by an amazing Italian cooking class delivered by a local shepherd-turned-chef called Melchiore (look him up if you get the chance) which was all organised for us - another huge highlight. The quick trips into Perugia were a dream. It's amazing that this city doesn't seem to be known to a large number of tourists, given how wonderful it is. I can't speak highly enough of the experience of staying at Villa Capanne. It is a stunning villa in a truly wonderful location and you'll never find a more relaxing place to lose golf balls!

Left on 11/10/2012 for a stay in October 2010
After a busy week in Rome we were ready for a relax and Villa Capanne was just the place to stay. The booking process was smooth and David and Chrissy were there to greet us and help us with any questions we had. When we arrived we truly thought we had died and gone to heaven, the villa is beautiful, the view over the golf course and castle is captivating, and oh "the serenity". The villa is just a picturesque drive to a number of towns in Umbria, Cortona, Perugia, Assisi to name just a few. We have visited Villa Capanne three times now and each time we discover another beautiful town nearby. A lovely place to spend time with your family and create memories you will never forget - something special. Highly recommended quality accommodation.

Guangzhou, ChinaUmbria at its best
Left on 10/27/2012 for a stay in March 2012
I holiday in Italy every year, and Villa Capane is the one place I will always return to. The property itself is fantastic, the main house is warm and welcoming, with plenty of space and rooms to accommodate everyone's needs on a family holiday. Capennetta is perfect for teenagers, and I am not sure who likes it more, the older kids who get their own space, or the parents! The pool is great, the countryside delightful (the lavender growing in the garden is just gorgeous), it's an easy five minute drive to the local village, Perugia, Assisi are very close, and it's great to just drive with no particular destination in mind, and discover the gems of villages dotted around the place. Villa Capanne is very reasonably priced when you compare to what you need to pay to accommodate a family in half-decent hotels in Italy. If you are looking for a place to stay in Umbria that you can relax in and which keeps wives and kids happy I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012

A wonderful break for our two families. The accomodation was wonderful, not to mention days and nights by the pool. Every small thing was thought of and having the Golf Course resturant down the bottom of the drive was a treat...great takeaway pizza on a Friday night. David and Chrissie are pros and we will all be back

Our party of 9 had a superb week here in august. Luxurious villa in beautiful grounds with stunning views and a superb infinity pool. The house is equipped to the highest standards. Managed by very charming couple with nothing too much trouble. Overlooking a world class golf course managed by friendly relaxed people. A beautiful and unspoilt part of Italy.

We had a fabulous and sunny holiday at the Villa Campanne last august.
It provided the perfect setting for all the guests to relax and enjoy all the property has to offer, from sunny by the pool, gardens to explore and on-site golf course.
We came back feeling very relaxed and ready for the next 12 months.

Left on 03/02/2012 for a stay in July 2011
We've spent 6 summers at the Villa Capanne and can't recommend it highly enough. Umbria is a little corner of Italy that is totally unspoiled and the Villa Capanne is perfectly situated to enjoy everything that the area has to offer. At the villa itself there is a beautiful infinity pool overlooking a Trent Jones designed golf course, which is perfect for the husbands. The view from the Villa Capanne is do die for and the couple (with young family) who manage the house are pretty amazing too. I hope that you enjoy it as much as we have.

Melbourne AustraliaAbsolutely magnificent - 5 star authenticity
Left on 02/27/2012 for a stay in April 2011
I took my family on a 4 month trip to Italy last year. We "book ended" the trip with ski-ing in Cortina and sailing the Cilento Coast. We spent 9 weeks in Villa Capanne and it was spectacular. I had invited my family and friends to come and stay with us and I was very nervous that the place may not have lived up to the expectations. But when we arrived, it was not just relief, but total excitement - the kind you used to get when you were a kid. Not only is the villa spectacular, its location allows you to travel on day trips to Tuscany and many of the fabulous local towns and villages. Yes, it may cost a little more than you wish to spend. But if you can afford it, the extra is well worth it. A trip you will never forget!
Ciao.
