Description from the owner
Beautiful New 800 Square foot two bedroom Bungalow, Craftsman style house. Great place for that getaway to the Wine Country or the Coast.
The deck through double, prairie style doors, opens to a wonderful view of Sonoma Mountain and this lovely rural area. Deck overlooks large rustic county garden with many flowers in bloom at various times of year. Surrounded by adjoining properties which include many acres of rolling open space.
The front bedroom has a queen bed. Extra bedroom is set up in the "Garden View Room" with another double bed. We have just added a new, quality mattress to this bed. It can be changed to a den with a co...Read more

West Suffield, CTWonderful cottage, great location!
Left on 03/26/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We stayed at Penngrove just over a week ago and loved it. There were so many things that made it comfortable. Mary was very friendly, took great care of us, brought us fresh flowers. She had lots of suggestions, plus a pile of maps and brochures. The cottage has been recently redone and is well-equipped. More supplies in the kitchen than we've seen in any other vacation rental. The garden is really special, rather a magical place in the spring. Very private. WiFi, important to us, was completely reliable. The location is perfect for day trips around Sonoma and Napa Valleys; to the coast (e.g. Point Reyes); even San Francisco. Don't mean to sound gushy, but can't think of anything we lacked or disliked. We would absolutely stay here again. Thanks Mary!

We stayed at this cottage for the weekend while in town for the wedding of two friends. Mary, the owner, could not have made the stay more pleasant - from her greeting us at the driveway to the fresh cut flowers from the garden all over the cottage, to the cozy cleanliness - everything about the cottage made for a wonderful vacation. Thank you!

The cottage is lovely and in good condition. The owner went out of her way to be sure everything was satisfactory. The bedrooms are small but nicely done. One has a futon that was Ok for one person but rather saggy for two. The other bedroom has a larger bed with a somewhat soft mattress, and was comfortable if you don't mind soft. The kitchen is pleasant and well stocked with dishes and supplies - better than any other place I have stayed. There is a small living area with a little gas "wood"stove, which is needed in the chilly mornings. There is a private deck looking over lovely gardens and to the open fields beyond. The whole place is very private.

Owner
K, Thank you for your kind review. We appreciate your positive comments and thank you very much for choosing our house.. Regarding beds: To clarify, our back bedroom does has a futon frame and because of your comment we have installed a new mattress and a box spring to replace the mattress over futon arrangement that was there. We have taken your comment regarding the softness of the queen and have also replaced the queen bed with a new mattress & box after your review.
. Having the back bedroom set on a futon frame allow us the benefit to change that room to a den with a couch for the occasion guest staying longer who needs one bedroom only and prefers that room as a den or office. Thanks for your help. Feedback is always welcome here! -

Windsor, CAWonderful stay!
Left on 05/03/2012 for a stay in March 2012
My family and I were relocating to Sonoma county for my new job, and were in need of temporary housing. Not enthusiastic about the prospect of staying at an extended stay hotel for a month, we were hoping to find more comfortable and homey accommodations. Did we luck out when we found Mary's cottage! It was a peaceful, comfortable, and well stocked home that met all of our needs and more. It was such a relief for us to be in such a pleasant and stress-free atmosphere. We would definitely recommend staying here, whether it is just for the weekend or a bit longer. Thanks, Mary!

Left on 04/07/2010 for a stay in October 2009
We stayed here several times in October & November 2009. The cottage is lovely, clean, well decorated, and comfortable overall. The kitchen is well equipped and has nice views. The view from the living area, kitchen, & one bedroom is of country fields, flowers, sheep, & hills. The owner's cat strolls by to say hello. There are two nice small decks for use when the weather is good. The owner is very nice, accommodating, & knowledgeable. The location is excellent, within short driving distance of all Sonoma County locations & several good restaurants. The cottage is close to a road but it's quiet & the parking is good. We had our cat with us & she loved sitting in a window seat watching the outdoor life. Penngrove Gardens Cottage is a perfect home away from home.

I was in Sonoma for a business trip for a new business venture so I was looking for very affordable accommodations thru craigslist and found this place. The owner was always pleasant, prompt, and accommodating in her communications which greatly helped my planning. The few photos I saw were small and so the details were hard to see but the rate was within budget and it looked clean so I booked. A pleasant surprise doesn't really describe my experience. The cottage itself is a wonderfully restored structure that is very cozy and comfortable for a single, couple or small family. It is situated in a rural setting that was a wonderful change for me coming from the congested east coast. The back deck is spacious with intimate views. Even though the setting is rural, the cottage is centrally located to lots of other businesses, stores, and restaurants so you can get what you "need" and return to your own private haven to simply decompress. I felt it was a wonderful value more than simply in monetary terms. It's well worth it on a lot of different levels. It's a good place to simply be and unwind, or use a base to explore the rest of Sonoma.
