RomeGreat place where to stay for a shorth visit to Philly
Left on 05/12/2013 for a stay in May 2013
I stayed in this apartment from May 2nd until 8th 2013. We were 2 persons and the purpose of our trip was for business, therefore we used this apartment accordingly and didn't use its all features. However we found it clean and in order and well furnished for the purpose of our staying. The apartament is enough large to accomodate up to 3 people, however it depends if you are a family or not; for a family of 3 or even of 4 with 2 young children it is good. If you are traveling with friends or colleagues then I would suggest not to be more of 2 people. The location of the apartment is absolutely convenient and you can access all downtown locations easily, the area is full of restaurants and the night life is amazing. What I would recommend to the owner is to find a more secure manage of the keys, since he is not on site in case you lose it the it can be a problem.

PennsylvaniaWe had a wonderfull time - this is a great place to stay
Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Close to both medium priced and more expensive restaurants: Also close to many major attractions in the city. Public transportation is on the street of the penthouse if it rains!
At first we were concerned with parking but then found their are two major parking facilities across the street from the Penthouse - all day and 24/7. Also limited parking in front of the Penthouse. Actually it was so convenient we did not drive during our entire six day stay!
Everything was great - quite - the penthouse is in the back away from street traffic; clean; most relaxing stay we have ever had.
We highly recommend this place and plan to stay again on our next visit to Philadelphia -

San Antonio, TexasNice stay in good location in Philly
Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in March 2013
My wife, teenage son and I stayed at the loft in mid-march. The rental was very clean (including the bathroom), beds were comfortable and it had all basic amenities. While not overly large, there was plenty of room for the three of us. You should note that the rental is open "loft" space such that the beds are not in seperate, enclosed rooms (this was not a problem for us as our waking and sleeping schedules were essentially the same but might be if your schedules are not).
Dealing with Josh the owner was extremely easy and he was quite responsive to our inquiries.
The location is great if you want to be in the "old town historic" area of Philadelphia and the rental is near many restuarants and is within easy walking distance of the central business district. It is relatively convienient to the museum district (probably do not want to walk but was only about a 10 minute drive at most for us). In that regard, we had a rental car and on street parking near the rental is limited (both in space availability and time in which you can park on the street) so if you have a car you can expect to pay $25 to $40 per day for parking (there are several garages and parking lots nearby but they all are "no in and out" so you have to pay the high rates every time you come and go).
All told, our stay was nice and I would reccomend the rental.Response from josh russell - 04/06/2013

Just wanted to make a note that as of yesterday (April 6th, 2013) there has been a wall put up behind the sofa and the day bed creating a private and separate second bedroom. Pictures will be updated soon.
Thanks,

The apartment was cute and clean, the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, and they even left a french press coffee pot for us after I inquired about one. The location is great, close to lots of restaurants and the historical tourist attractions. The only negative to point out is that it's not really a two bedroom apartment. The main "bedroom" is separated from the rest of the apartment by a half wall and the other bed is in the living room. This wasn't an issue for us but it could be for people looking for a bit more privacy. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would book again.

Owner
Thank you for the review Jack, I met with a contractor last week about putting up a wall behind the couch with a door close to the windows (we had done this in one of the units below). The issue is trying to get in there for a week to do the work when no one is renting. As of now it looks like there is a week in April open so we are shooting for that. Once we do build that proper second bedroom with wall, we will update site with new pictures so that people can see this. We didn't mean to be misleading about this, but it we didn't feel it was right at the moment to call it a 1 bedroom either. We felt like it was kind of something inbetween. But yes we understand this is an issue and we are making a private second bedroom hopefully in April but if we get booked up it might have to wait until later in the summer (spring is our busy season). Thanks again for staying with us and I hope we can host you again in the future.
Best,
Josh & Miranda Russell -

Nova ScotiaNice Place to Stay
Left on 03/02/2013 for a stay in February 2013
The spot was perfect, and I really appreciate the attention of the owners when I needed to contact them on a couple of occasions. I broke the coffee pot on the granite counter (oops!) and a new one was by the front door the next morning! Great service! Comfortable, well equipped and good value. Nice neighbourhood and great access to public transit. Great dining in the area and lots to do. If you are in to art, check out the Barnes Collection and the Rodin Museum. All good!

TaiwanGreat weekend get away and affordable
Left on 01/20/2013 for a stay in January 2013
I was really stressed out in the past 2 weeks, and finally get a weekend off, so I decided to go somewhere to relax and enjoy myself. I looked everywhere online, and I finally found this place on Home away.com,, which is affordable and at great location in Philly. I decided to give it a try. I am really glad that I gave a try, this condo is not only beautiful ( brick house with nice wood floor), , but convience ( it has everything you can think of - include free wifi, refrigerator, microwave, nice big plasma TV, dinnng table and etc). Don't even mentioned the clean folded towel in the bathroom, it totally like a 5 star hotel ( believe me, I travel to almost 20 countries up to now, this is the best I had!) I would recommend this place for anyone who need a business trip or family trip
to Philly. Try this place, you won't regret!! -

Boca Raton, FLLovely place, great location, good value.
Left on 10/30/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Once we realized this is not actually a two-bedroom, more a large studio with alcoves as bedrooms, we appreciated everything about it: appliances worked, the beds were firm, the location was perfect, nearby restaurants and groceries were plentiful, we could easily walk to farmer's market, Independence Hall, Seaport Museum, Christ Church, etc. and could catch buses and trains to other sites nearby. We liked nearby restaurants Farmicia, an afghan one a few doors down on Chestnut St., and an Italian place at Market and 3rd. Most beautiful in fall: Rodin Museum and Bartram's Gardens. Note: the lockbox out front labeled "Russell' is the one you want.

Redondo Beach, CAIt was a great place to stay.
Left on 10/12/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The instructions from Josh about arrival and departure were clear, accurate and helpful.
The home was perfect: clean, comfortable and well equipped with every amenity that we needed. It smelled good, the bed was comfortable, the sheets were good quality, there were enough towels and also good quality. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare breakfast and dinner in the apartment. The sofa was comfy and the TV was great to have.
The location was perfect, there are great restaurants and a movie theater within walking distance, not to mention the some of the countries most historic sites. We took the subway to a Phillies ballgame with out any problem.
It is really a perfect place to stay in Philadelphia.
One word of warning, do not park your car for one minute on the street without paying the parking fee, there is someone on foot out there who will ticket you in a heartbeat.

Left on 09/22/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Condo was very comfortable and in a perfect location for walking almost everywhere we wanted to go. We took public transportation only to art museums and to ballpark. Grocery, wine, and drug stores all within easy walking distance.
Only suggestion would be to provide enough ground coffee for the first morning.

Michigan, USAGreat location - way better than a hotel
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This was our first time doing a vacation rental instead of a hotel, and we would definitely do it again. On the plus side - excellent location for sightseeing in Philadelphia, close to the waterfront as well, very roomy & clean, close parking ($14/night), nice ammenities (kitchen, washer/dryer, wifi, etc).
On the negative side - no privacy in the one bedroom (just has a half-wall), only provided with one washcloth per person for a 5 night stay (fortunately I brought some of our own), broiler did not work, lots of street noise on Saturday night. But these seemed minor inconveniences. More of an FYI if you're thinking of renting.Response from josh russell - 08/18/2012
Owner
Thanks, I have repaired the broiler and we will be purchasing a few more wash clothes. Thanks for staying with us.

My wife and I enjoyed the condo...very comfortable, super great location, but...we knew going in, but...no coffee pot (only a coffee press?) and no microwave. I know, I know...you don't go to Philly and need a microwave or a "full blown" coffee pot. But, we're from New Orleans, we need a coffee pot, not a coffee press. As for the microwave, it's just the american Way when you travel, you know, leftovers from the great restaurants in Philly and all dat. With that said, it was a great place to stay, I would highly recommend it. Go Saints...we may meet those Dirty Birds (Philadelphia, Atlanta is the original Dirty Birds) in the NFC Championship. Seems like we always have trouble with the Birds (Seahawks?). Who Dat!!! Oh yea, if you get a chance to go to Bushkill Falls, by all means, go.

Thanks for the great feedback all good points. Im going to go out and pick up a coffee maker and microwave today.
