My husband and I have vacationed on the beautiful island of St. Maarten for many years and have stayed at many different places. For us, Villa Louisa is now considered "home away from home".
This was our fourth stay there and first time renting with the new owners, Carolyn and John. Although we were perfectly comfortable with the villa in past visits, the improvements they have made to this property have made it better than ever. The owners are very responsive and want to ensure that your stay is enjoyable. The very generous welcome package they provided was much appreciated!
This spotless three bedroom villa is located in a beautiful, quiet and safe location, high up the mountain in Pointe Blanche. There is a security gate at the entrance to the development that is guarded at all times. The open layout of the villa is perfect and is great for those seeking optimal privacy. It is highly conducive for outdoor living. The beds are comfortable and the house is stocked with high quality linens, nice beach towels, outdoor dining tables, chaise loungers, stereo with outdoor speakers, Cd's, books, playing cards and much more. The kitchen is very well equipped and perfect for cooking meals if you desire. There is an outdoor charcoal grill as well. The newly remodeled bathrooms include spacious walk-in showers. The location provides nice breezes, so the doors were kept open in the main living areas, avoiding the need for air conditioning. The views from the second story are truly stunning from all directions. From there you can see the impressive cruise ships, the neighboring mountains, the charming capital Philipsburg, the turquoise bay, the ocean, and gorgeous sunsets. Although St. Maarten has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the very large and well-maintained pool at Villa Louisa keeps drawing us back. Many relaxing hours were spent just floating about. The neighborhood dogs are cute and friendly and provide another level of security.
One of the draws to St. Maarten is that you can easily explore the island in a rental car. Because the island is small and relatively easy to get around, many wonderful places can be traveled to in under 30 minutes. Many nice restaurants, bars and shopping are located just five minutes away from the villa. Some of our favorite places to visit include Orient Beach, Grand Case, Simpson Bay and Lagoon, Philipsburg, Oyster Pond, and Loterie Farm. Favorite restaurants include Chesterfields, 12-Metre Yacht Club, The Palms (Simpson Bay), Mark’s Place, Antoine’s, Fig, Pan Laan, and the Lolos in Grand Case. We were fortunate to witness the Grand Carnival parade this trip. It was a fun time – this island knows how to party, for sure. The local islanders we encountered are always so friendly.
Villa Louisa and the island of St. Maarten continue to impress us and we will be back for many more wonderful and relaxing vacations! -

When we arrived at the villa, John was there to greet us and to show us around. Since we arrived on Easter Monday, the supermarkets were closed. The fridge was stocked up with beverages. Snacks and food for the evening and next morning was provided. Very thoughtful! Our kids, 3 teenagers loved the pool and their rooms. It felt like home immediately.
All rooms are very clean and the house has every thing you need. The layout of the villa is great. 2 Bedrooms with bathrooms each are located right at the pool. Great for our kids. 1 bedroom with bathroom on 2. floor is perfect for parents (in our case). Amazing view from villa to bay and Philipsburg. Great sunrise (if you get up early) and beautiful sunsets. With a rental car it is easy to explore the island and nothing is too far away. Supermarkets and restaurants are very close as well. Overall we really liked our stay at the villa. Great for a family vacation or a romantic gateway.

Everything at Villa Louisa was wonderful from the spacious and well decorated villa to the nice, large pool and patio area to the amazing views of the bay. You could relax by the pool all day or visit one of the many beaches. Carolyn and John know just the right touches to add to make your stay more enjoyable from snacks and beverages on arrival to the use of a local cell phone and free calls to the U.S. We couldn't have wanted anything else and hope to be back next winter!

The beautiful views, the spacious accommodations and the close proximity to town made this the perfect vacation venue. I stayed at the villa in March with my daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. There was something for everyone, a pool, a spacious kitchen and plenty of room for lounging around. Large doors opened up to the patio giving the feeling of being outside while in the house. Our hosts, John and Caroline, were gracious and saw to our every need. The refrigerator was even stocked with staples and goodies! Everything combined made it

This is our 5th time in St Maarten and 1st time staying at the Villa Louisa. When we arrived Carolyn was there to greet us and show us how everything works. The bathrooms had just been redone and were gorgeous. They filled the fridge with some drinks and provided some basic groceries which was really thoughtful. There is even a cell phone to call her if something comes up or to take with you and make local calls when you were out. Local calls back to Canada or the us were included from the home line which was very handy. I really felt like they thought of everything. After having stayed on the beach and now up on a mountain - we enjoyed the view much more and drove to the beach when we wanted it. I took my two tween/teen kids and mother in law and we had a great vacation. I would love to come back with 2 other couples.
The views are the best on the island and the people are so friendly - we will definitely be going back again. What a great trip!

My husband and I were guests at this beautiful villa in the hills overlooking the marina/bay in Philipsbug, St. Martin. The accommodations were wonderful, the scenery breathtaking, and our hosts, Carolyn and John were beyond fabulous. Every step was taken to insure our complete enjoyment, and they succeeded. We were also privileged to receive a special dinner made especially for us at the villa by a private chef. It was like a bit of heaven...and truly spoiled us for our next vacation. We highly recommend this property and the fantastic hospitality of Carolyn and John...make it your home away from home in St Martin too!

Villa Louisa is located on a mountaintop over-looking the bay where you can wake up each morning and watch the cruise ships come into port. It has a very nice view of the ocean and Philipsburg below. Upon arriving, we were warmly greeted by Carolyn and John who showed us around the house and where we could find all of the necessities. A nicely stocked refrigerator with soft drinks, water, beer and coffee along with some rum and wine were a nice added touch we didn't expect. The house was just how it looked in the photos...it was beautiful,clean and tasetfully decorated; we felt immediately comfortable. The doors open on each end of the house and there are no screens which was such a wonderful feeling to us (having come from winter in Wisconsin), to have that tropical breeze blowing through. Everything that we needed for the week was provided. I can't think of anything negative to say other than the pool was a little cold, but we did so much beach hopping that I don't think we would have used it much more anyway. We would be happy to recommend this to anyone who would like a comfortable place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown areas. I would recommend it to couples or families with older children.

We stayed at Villa Louisa from December 21 - 27, 2012 and wish it could have been longer (we are already planning our return)! The owners, Carolyn and John, were so nice and helpful, not just about the villa but also about where to go from beaches to restaurants (try Chesterfields and The Boathouse). They truly wanted us to enjoy our stay. The villa is beautiful and the views of Great Bay and Philipsburg are truly amazing. The kitchen is well stocked, the bedrooms are roomy and comfortable and the pool is inviting. When you go, get a rental car. You are in a 24 hr security gated community and will want one to get around the island.

We had the pleasure of being the first guests in Villa Louisa from November 23 - November 30, 2012. We arrived to find our dream vacation home to be more than we expected. The home was spotless, well organized and equipped with a new flat screen TV, new air conditioning and just freshly painted! We could not have asked for better hosts than Carolyn and John. We had made a few requests of them and they went above and beyond to meet them. The pool was a wonderful treat each day, very clean. The house comes with a nice supply of pool/beach towels. The beds all had new linens and were very comfortable. For me that is a big deal. For those of you that like to cook, you will find the kitchen is well equipped. I am a chef and they had everything I needed, even a new weber grill for those wanting to grill. For peace of mind, it was nice having 24 hour security. The views from the home are breathtaking. We could see the islands nearby, wonderful sunrises and sunsets.
There were 4 adults staying at the house and we all agreed that the property is beautiful and spacious. We enjoyed the fact that we could open the large doors to our rooms, which made the rooms feel even bigger.
We all had a wonderful vacation and are looking forward to our next visit!! -

My wife and I have been guests of the original owner for a number of years and have never had a bad experience! Our hosts have been so very thoughtful and accomidating. The new owners have totally remodeled the site and from looking at the photos and speaking personally with them I am positive that our holiday next Fall will be the best ever! In the past years we have never felt unsecure considering the gated 24/7 service and the privacy of the villa is comforting. For those who are looking for a private villa with amenitues galore, My wife and I strongly recommend "Villa Louisa" as your holiday destination. We look forward to our holiday In St.Maarten because we know it will be the "best ever" only because of Carolyn and John's hospitality.
