      Half Term Break - Pickering

Left on 04/12/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Arrived after following the excellent direction. Was met at the property and given the tour.

Lovely quirky cottage but well decorated and equipped.
Everything we required was there and the cottage was well heated and plenty of hot water etc.

Very near the centre of Pickering which is a great place and very dog friendly. Good choice of pubs takeaways and shops and friendly good service.

      Coopers Cottage

Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in July 2012

very nice cottage, good central location for exploring the moors and surounding area.
there was a small problem with the rubbish bin being
full to the brim, and no instruction when to leave out for collection.
this small thing aside i would stay again and i have recomended it to anyone who will listen to me.

A really, grubby, shoddy property with cheap furniture and fitti

Left on 04/30/2012 for a stay in April 2012

On arrival we were very disappointed at how dirty the cottage was. Every surface was covered in thick dust, including the floor. In the lounge the sofa under the window had broken springs and the other sofa was covered in a grubby, stained cover. There were no towels, tea towels or oven gloves left. The bedlinen was worn and had to be changed. Many of the light bulbs had gone and no replacement bulbs left. After bitterly complaining to the owner a cleaner was sent, but even then the property was only just passable in terms of cleanliness as many areas were still left uncleaned such as the venetian blinds, windows and the cobwebs hanging from the bathroom ceiling.

Response from Sykes Holiday Cottages - 06/01/2012

      Sykes Holiday Cottages

      Manager

Thank you for your review and we were sorry to learn that you were so unhappy with Cooper’s Cottage. The owner advises that he sent his cleaner around as soon as possible to resolve some of the issues and has reiterated the level of cleaning he expects at the property. In addition, the owner has replaced the washing machine and sofas, installed two flat screen televisions, painted the walls and window sills, painted the exterior, put up hanging baskets, replaced light bulbs, bought new lamps and thoroughly deep cleaned the property.

As you can see, the owner does take all feedback extremely seriously and has acted immediately to address the points you raised. The owner is sorry that you declined his offer of a free holiday either at Cooper’s Cottage or his other property of Cherry Tree Cottage, and that you also felt unable to accept a refund in recognition of your disappointment. The owner remains committed to offering a unique Grade 2 Listed holiday cottage in this beautiful location.
