With the owners as the only other residents on the property, we recommend this luxurious rental in a Sicily villa to those looking for privacy. This villa for rent in Sicily, Italy, provides you with lovely views of the countryside and Mount Etna from shaded terraces. You can walk into the village to pick up supplies for home cooking, or go out. We definitely suggest making the short drive to Taormina, one of the most beautiful and historic towns in Sicily.

A lovely villa on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, Villa Falcone is comprised of a main villa and an independent garden house with a security system. The owners live in the main vi...lla; guests occupy a suite in a private wing of the villa. The suite and the garden house can be combined to accommodate a group of nine people. There is a swimming pool [12m x 25m, open April 30 - October 22] surrounded by extensive grounds. The pool has an enclosed, shallow area for young children. The surrounding terrace is shaded by trees and enjoys views of the stunning countryside and Mount Etna. The pool is open from April 13th through October 26th. The villa is furnished with antiques, while the garden house features more contemporary furnishings. The property is situated on the edge of the Piedimonte Etneo, a charming village with a good selection of shops and services. Catania [44 km], Taormina [20 km], and the seaside [10-km] are within easy driving distance.

Two floors. Ground floor: The entrance to the private wing leads into a hallway. The hallway leads into a living room furnished with leather sofas, antiques, and a grand piano. There is a kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven, stove, toaster, dishwasher, and washing machine. 1st floor: A white marble staircase leads to the first floor. The second floor landing leads out onto a furnished terrace. There are three spacious bedrooms, all with access to balconies. There is one double bedroom, one twin-bedded room, and one single bedroom. All of the bedrooms are equipped with telephones. There are two tiled bathrooms with tubs. The amenities include: grand piano, dishwasher, washing machine, heating, satellite TV, hi-fi, baby bed, and three telephones. The outdoor amenities include: ping-pong, barbecue, and outdoor shower.

  The villa is furnished with beautiful antiques.
  
  Size of master bedroom and the kitchen.
  
  Location near a busy highway. With no air conditioning, the windows must be open. In addition, although the site had satellite television, all non-Italian channels were blocked!
  
  This villa is well situated to someone who wants to tour Sicily by car.

  This property was very close to Catania, Taormina, and a great location for exploring that whole region. Our family enjoyed the markets for all kinds of food and a wonderful bakery and espresso bar in town.
  
  The kitchen was high tech new Italian style--very nice to use, with an old fashioned balcony at one end. We often ate on the deck outside overlooking the pool and gardens. The bedrooms were filled with antiques, but usable ones. The master bedroom is huge, and has been redecorated, probably in the 60's with very interesting furniture of that period. The bathrooms were remodeled about the same time.
  
  The house was much more formal than our previous rental, with the living area upstairs, which was a disappointment, but the family lived in the quarters on the ground floor.
  
  We did a day trip to Siracusa and a baroque city - Noto -rebuilt after an earthquake in the 1600's.

  We went to Italy for 3 weeks in 2003. We spent one week in a Castello in Tuscany and another week in several places in Northern Italy. We had never been to Sicily before, didn't know anyone who had, and had some real reservations about Internet rentals. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised. The Rentvillas process was beyond painless. It was supportive. The arrangements were flawless and the owners of the property were the most gracious hosts. The accommodations were luxurious. I cant wait to go back!

  Lack of public transportation.
  
  The beauty of Sicily and accessibility to Taormina.
