Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in May 2013
My husband and I rented Fishing Hole for a quick weekend getaway and absolutely loved it! It is a beautiful, clean cabin and the fishing decor is very whimsical. We love to fish and were thrilled with the private pond. Although it rained the majority of time, my hubby braved the elements and still caught 3 fish. We are planning to return for a longer vacation this fall!

This cabin is perfect! It is peaceful, comfortable, clean, beautifully decorated and fun! We loved everything but especially the fishing, hot tub, pool table and views. Caught and released some bluegills and bass. Wish we had more time to stay longer. Will be back for sure. Thank you for sharing your truly wonderful cabin :)

My Wife & I along with our dogs had a great time at the cabin. It rained all day for 1 of the days so we just hung out, played pool & used the hot tub it was very relaxing. We also ran into Pigeon Forge which was just a little down the road so we could get everything we needed but it is far enough away that you don't feel like you are anywhere near a city. We would love to drive down and stay again!!! Once again we had a great time!!! Thank You for allowing us to stay!!

We found our experience at The Fishing Hole to be fun with the gameroom/hot tub and otherwise cozy and relaxing. We liked that soap, shampoo/conditioner, lotion and other supplies such as dishwashing powder was provided (and eco-friendly). We also found the location to be just close enough to the attractions of Sevierville,Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountain National Park - which was a beautiful experience. We would stay again and recommend to friends and family.

I love going to Tenn. But what even made it better was staying at the fishing hole. The cabin is far enough out that you get that rustic, quiet and comfortable pleasure, but yet close enough to enjoy everything. I have stayed there four times now and no complaints at all. The cabin is very clean, and has all the features required for all to enjoy their vacation at any time of the year. Very comfortable bed, a game room which includes a pool table for friends to really have a good time. A hot Tub that is very soothing and a well kept kitchen that supplies everything needed, just all in all a very wonderful experiece in deed. I love the fishing hole, and you will too, so please if you're planning a trip to tenn. stay there you won't regret it!!! Tell Lucky and Tamera I sent you.

so relaxing, so clean, so would go back again and again. The decor is inspiring. just had a wonderful relaxing get away time. I would recommend to all my friends to stay at lazy days, because that's what it was, lazy days, just wish it didn't have to end. The owners were so gracious and hospitable to us :-) The bed was as comfortable as my bed at home, maybe even more comfortable than mine!!! This has been our second stay at lazy days and plan on going back again and again!!! even tho it was only an hour away from our house, we felt like we were a million miles away. If you are into arts and crafts and antique stores then this is definitely the place to stay, there are so many little shops in Wears Valley you can't see them all in one day or if you prefer to go to the mountains and take in beautiful Townsend, Great Smokey Mts. or Cades Cove then this is the place to stay, it is also just a few miles from Pigeon Forge, but when you stay at lazy days cabin you can have your tranquility or you can leave and do so much, all within miles. Perfect location to everything but yet feeling like you are away from everything. Thank you to the Dagues, our gracious hosts. O yeah, my fourteen year old son loved tapping his foot on the deck at the pond and watching all of the fish come to the surface, he tried to fish a little, but if he caught anything he was going to throw it back in so there are always fish there for other people to enjoy :-)I would love to have the Full wrap around porch at my house, I could so see myself and my husband living there. they also have a washer and dryer there, which was great for the wet towels when we got out of the hot tub!!!
I just can't say enough good things about this cabin, bottom line, just had a wonderful relaxing time!!!

Fishing hole is a great place to stay and we received excellent service from Lucky Dague. The place is decorated so nice and has the comforts of home. The location is great because you can do alot of things such as walking, hiking, swimming, fishing and shop the small stores along Wears Valley Road and Pigeon Forge is just a short drive from the cabin. We love the hot tub, pool table and the front porch swing. It is a place that you sit back and relax and enjoy the view.

September 3rd-10th,2012-When we first drove up I went right to the water an my first thoughts were I wish it were bigger and had more cover in the water. Be that as it may, the fishing was both challenging and great. We caught bluegills on fly rods and Bass on tube jigs, brush hogs and poppers. It was great. When we went into the cabin I was amazed. It was much more than the pictures on the internet and the amenities were second to none. Everything you could think of that you forgot to bring along was there. Attention to detail for comfort and pleasure was taken care of on every level. We had a great time and highly recommend it. We will be back again soon. The owner " Lucky" was great to talk to as well. Our dog ozzie (maltese) loved it too.

Great time, tons of fish for my husband and boys to catch. Good time at the pool (thanks!) Great location, close to town, park, river activities and enjoyed coming back to make dinner, s'mores, hot tub and relaxing! Also liked that my boys had the downstairs and could go to bed while my husband and I had the upstairs and porches accessible. I was surprised tho , when first arriving that this was a studio type place (no master bdrm) which ended up working out fine, kinda glad we didnt know beforehand b/c we may have passed it up. Great place for small family of 4!

We had a great time at the Fishing Hole. Every detail was thought of and the cabin was decorated just beautifully! The game roon and hot tub was fun for the whole family. We didn't have a lot of luck at the fishing pond but it was a great idea and the kids did get to see the fish and fed them. The only truly negative part of our stay was that we had brought our 9 and 11 year old kids with us and had hoped for them to sleep on the pull out sofa. Only one of our four nights were we even able to pull the bed out of the sofa and the day we did we ended up putting pillows on top of the mattress because the bars underneath felt so awful. The king size bed on the other hand was amazing! The pictures were a little misleading as they make it look like the king size bed is in a bedroom but it is in the main room of the house. Overall, it was a very nice stay.

The cabin was great. Lucky was very nice and tried to do whatever was possible for our stay. My husband and I spent our 19th anniversary here and had a great and relaxing time. We caught a turtle and 2 fish. The swing on the porch was great to just relax. We ate from the concession at the pool and they had the best caramel pie. I would highly recommend going to the fishing hole. plan to try to go back this fall and take our son and dog. Thanks for a great night.

The cabin was nice but I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a one bedroom but it was a studio with game room in basement. The boys wouldn't sleep downstairs on the sofa couch because there weren't any shades on the doors. My Grandson and his friend enjoyed the private deck and caught about 55 fish! We went to Cades Cove and saw a bear right beside the truck! It was digging something out of a tree trunk! The lightening bugs was a nice treat too! We wish we had another week to enjoy it!
It was within walking distance to the pool which cost $5.00 each to swim. -

We enjoyed our stay at the Fishing Hole. It was very clean and had all the comforts we were looking for. Our pet was even content as he was able to be in the same room with us without going up &down; stairs all the time. He enjoyed the yard when it was time to go outside on the leash. We had plenty of clean towels and washcloths, the bed slept exceptionally well and we appreciated the convenience of WiFi. The location afforded a beautiful view of the mountains without having to drive on unpaved roadway. Thanks for letting us stay in your cabin.

We loved the Fishing Hole Cabin. We would reccomend this rental to anyone who wanted to stay in the smokey mountains. It is in a very good location, not to far from Pigeon Forge, but away enough for a quite night by the pond or hot tub. The decor was my favorite part. The Cabin is decorated from top to bottom with fishing and outdoor items. We brought our fishing poles but probably should have brought fish food instead. The fish in the pond are used to being fed so they did not bite our lures and bait. We loved it, even with the pet fish.

This was the perfect get away for our 41st anniversary, my husband's 66th birthday, and my very recent diagnosis of terminal secondary breast cancer. I really needed the few days of rest and relaxation after such a crazy week of phone calls, emails, etc. from precious friends and family. Fishing off the deck was super convenient and the view, spectaculor!! The cabin was beautifully furnished and with so many extras, I couldn't list them all. We were very grateful to have found this online and will go back if we get the chance. You won't be sorry you stayed here!
The only drawback for me was the stairs. With my medical issues now, it was kinda hard, but still worth it. -

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cabin! The cabin was everything you said it was in your advertisement. The king size bed was very comfy. We were so pleased with the cleanliness. There was something about the cabin that made us want to relax! It rained a couple of nights - it was so relaxing to listen to the rain as it hit the metal roof. My husband fished (and yes, he caught a few) while I relaxed swinging on the front porch. The panaramic view of the mountains was amazing.

We enjoyed staying in your cabin. It is beautifully decorated and quiet. However, there were a few things that concerned us. The mattress on the pull-out bed in the basement was ridiculously awful. My children had backaches as a result of the poor quality. We had problems throughout our stay with lots of bees and even hornets. Active hives are on both ends of the cabin and the bees just fly in the screened in porch under the doors. We killed lots! We loved having the water right out the back door!

Each time we stayed at the cabin was very nice. The only negative thing I can think of was the cold water not working in the kitchen. I hope this problem is fixed on our next visit. Also, Lucky cuts the grass on the day of our arrival, Cove mountain never did that. We always had to call and ask them to cut the 1 foot high grass. Lucky makes sure the lawn is cut very nice. Also the cabin is very clean upon our arrival. We do not even consider looking elsewhere for our stay in Pigeon Forge. Also we love the fire pit, hot tub, fishing pond and pet friendly. It is a great place to spend a week that we hate to leave.

Lucky is also very easy to work with and made our stay great! He is easy to get a hold of and quick to respond if your gps gets you lost:) This is a great cabin!

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin had some pros and some cons. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable. We made good use of the pool table during our stay. We also liked the pond. We could see plenty of small bream, however, they wouldn't bite. It was still fun to feed them fish food pellets. The cons were mostly associated with maintenance and upkeep. The kitchen had no cold water. We had to get cold water from the bathroom. It irritated us when learned that the agent was aware of the water problem when he rented us the cabin but said nothing. The bathroom linoleum was in poor condition. If you open the back screen door wide, it would come off its hinge. There was a broken hinge on the kitchen cabinet where the trash is kept. It appeared that the outside porch, handrails, and deck had not been stained nor weather protected in years. The grill had no grease catch pan. Dripping grease had really made a mess on the grill and porch decking below.

My wife and I took our two granddaughters to the Fishing Hole and their first trip to Dollywood. It's a ten-mile drive off the main strip in Pigeon Forge, but not bad if you want to be away from the mainstream tourism at night. The bed was super comfortable and the kitchen nicely appointed. There were only two minor reasons I didn't rate this excellent: 1) There were no blinds or curtains downstairs for privacy (right off the parking area) and although we didn't have neighbors that could see in without trespassing, nobody wanted to sleep downstairs when someone could possibly just walk up and see right inside. 2) In order to bring your stuff up to the main living space you either have to struggle up the spiral staircase or haul them to the pond and then up the back staircase across the porch, through a door on the screened porch, and through another door into the cabin. I am a big guy and my three girls haul a lot of stuff--even for just three nights. We had to create a "bucket brigade" to pass stuff up the spiral staircase to each other to unload and load the car without tracking in a bunch of dirt or climbing the stairs over and over. Other than that, the place lived well for our stay and we would stay there again because the price was right and it had just enough separation from the hoardes of tourists.

Our stay was amazing, the cabin was spotless and in a great location. Also the owners were soo nice and made everything so easy. I will def. refer friends looking for a nice place to stay. I searched the internet for other places before finding the fishing hole and all the accommodations were sub par, but the fishing hole exceeded my expectations. You will not be disappointed.

The cabin was ok but not what I expected, the pond looks a lot different from the picture. It's very small and murky looking. Also we thought the property was more secluded. The enterance is not convenient for carrying bags and the spiral staircase was inconvenient too. There was no chalk or babypowder for the pool table. Last but not least the picture showed a flatscreen tv by the jecuzzi but there was an old tube tv there.

We booked the Fishing Hole as a vacation get away from stress & all the fast passed hassles of life... The decor of the cabin is amazing!!.. Everywhere you looked, there was something else to enjoy. Played checkers on the screened in porch. Listened to the radio while rocking the worries away on the back porch while looking at the lake. Sat in the swing on the front porch and watched the sunrise in the mornings and looked at the lights on the cabins on the mountains at night. Spectacular views. Bed is so comfortable! Amenities are awesome! ..Lucky is very professional & kind. We caught some fish and set them free back into lake. Went to Cades Cove & saw some deer. Had a great time... will be back again!!.. Thank you for having the cabin for rental. Highly recommended to everyone!!

We had a really nice time. The cabin was decorated beautifully and the fishing was great! Unfortunately, I wish we would have known it wasn't suitable for people who had a difficult time with stairs. It is beautifully decorated. But the only way to get to the lower level is down a spiral staircase or to go outside, down the outside steps. This would have been fine if we were younger. But we were celebrating our 40th anniversary and we're in our early 60's. We found the steps and spiral staircase a big challenge when carrying in our luggag. Once we got settled in, we liked it and was glad to have lots of space for our little dogs to walk and we like the fishing! It was great for that! Unfortunately, we wouldn't go back again because of the steps/stairs.

Left on 08/06/2011 for a stay in July 2011
There is a lot of misleading information in the description of this cabin. It would have been fine for anyone not wanting privacy. The "one" bedroom that is has is not a bedroom. The king bed is in the middle of the living room, next to the kitchen! We put the kids downstairs on an air mattress since the sleeper couch was so uncomfortable but we could still not have any privacy because the staircase was open and it was a spiral one that moved a lot...not safe for small children. The bathroom is too small to even mention...we have a 5th wheel camper and our bathroom is larger in it than in this cabin. The roof also has several leaks and it rained a lot while we were there. There were also cob webs hanging from the ceiling everywhere, especially the bathroom. And for the pond...that was a joke. There is nothing in that pond but snapping turtles which we caught about 6 large ones...they have eaten all the fish. I have rented cabins in this area of Tennessee for over 15 years and this was by far the worst ever.
Response from Lucky Dague - 08/07/2011
Owner
Sorry you were dissatified with the accomidations at the Fishing Hole, we strive very hard to make this cabin enjoyable for all our guests. Although we did not design the floor plan, it is a cabin and was not built with the intention of living in it, it is strickly a overnight rental.
We have owned several cabins in the area and this one is far our most popular rental. We also have over 150 possitive reviews (104 on VRBO) and this is our second negative so I guess it is true that you can't please everyone. We do appreciate the "true" negative feedback about the cob web in the bathroom and we have taken care of that, thank you for bringing that to our attention as well a possible leaky roof since it is covered by warranty we will have them come check it right away. The remainer of your review was is a 'Big Fish Tale". The pond is stocked every spring and it has hundreds of fish, the guests that checked out yesterday caught over 20. Sofa sleepers are what they are, I have never found a comfortable one. On your next trip to the Smokies I would recommend that you bring your 5th wheel trailer since there are several nice campgrounds in the area. -

Wow, where do I start with our spring break! We decided to take the kids to Pigeon Forge for spring break. As we began to plan, we ran across the "The Fishing Hole" on tripadvisor. We could not have chosen a better place to spend spring break! Everything about the cabin was done in a spirit of excellence! My family loves to fish so we went to bed fishing and woke up fishing! The cabin was off of the beaten path but not too far from all of the excitement in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg! Even our dog princess enjoyed "The Fishing Hole". Lucky, we would like to thank you for a wonderful cabin that accomodated me, my husband, 3 kids and my dog Princess! It is only a one bedroom but will accomodate more being that there is a gameroom with pull out sofa on the bottom floor and the bedroom on the top floor! It was absolutely wonderful! It was great running into Lucky at Fuddruckers also! We will definitely be going back but maybe next time for some husband/wife time! Lol!

My family (Wife and three kids) and I stayed at the 'Fishin Hole' from 25-29 april 2011 and we had a blast. The cabin was neat and clean and the pond is fully stocked. The area is quaint, but not dull.
You are located near all of the attractions that Pigeon Forge has to offer, yet you're not caught in the hum drum of noise, traffic and throngs of people. Whether it's you and a significant other, or a moderate size family, not more than three young children or two teenagers, then this cabin is for you.
Families in the surrounding cabins and campground were extremely friendly too. Additionally, the 'Fishin Hole' is pet friendly. We kennel our dog at night time and whenever we leave the house. We maintain this standard, whether we're in our hometown of Fayetteville, NC or whether we're on vacation. I only mention this because it seems that other families must do this too as the 'Fishin Hole' showed 'Zero' signs of pet destruction. And based upon all that my wife and I read, this cabin is heavily utilized by families with pets.
Lucky has done an outstanding job of maintaining this property, and upon meeting him we could tell that he enjoys renting this property. Lucky, my family and I thank you for allowing us to have a relaxing and peaceful time at the 'Fishin Hole'.
Respectfully,
James N. Wright III

I wanted to surprise my wife with a spontaneous weekend in the mountains. Lucky really worked with me, and I booked the perfect place for an awesome price. The Fishing Hole was incredible. The cabin was immaculately clean and well-kept. The fireplace and the hot tub were so romantic at night. Playing pool was a lot of fun, even though I think the table is jinxed because my wife beat me for the first time ever. This was the place we needed to be alone and reconnect. It was close enough to town that we were able to go spend time in downtown Gatlinburg, but,at the cabin, we felt like the only two people in the world. My wife loved the layout and the decor of the cabin and we really felt right at home. Everything was wonderful, and I only wish we could have stayed longer. We will most definitely be back.

The Fishing Hole porvided a perfect combination of relaxation and luxury for my family of four during our first trip to Tennessee. We initally settled in and the kids and my husband quickly started fishing; they were not disappointed. We spent our days venturing into the Smokies for hiking or participating in the Junior Ranger programs. In the evenings we often rode through Cades Cove where we actually saw two black bears, deer, turkeys, and many fireflies! We did use the pool down the road several times and it was clean and not very crowded. The location was in a very quite area but not too far to visit Gatlinburg a few times including a busy day at Dollywood - again the hot tub was a welocme site in the evenings!

Little to cold to fish for long, but having the pond was fun for us. The only small draw back was the bed is in the living area. Other than that the place is great. The inside of the cabin was tastefully decorated however we felt like we were mislead...we got there and immediately got our children ready to visit the pool that was so talked about in the description and was turned away because we were not told that we had to pay for the pool. The owner adveritised a pool that he does not pay membership for...I feel like customers should not be advertised something that is not included. Also the yard was very grown up...the lawn had not been mowed in awhile and was finally mowed the day we left...the lake was awful,,,not at all what it looked like in the picture and there was a family of bats on the porch that looked as if they had been there for quite some time so we did not feel comfortable letting our children on the porch to play. I would not stay in this particular cabin again.

Our weekend at the Fishing Hole was amazing! The cabin is beautiful and very well maintained. This is our second trip to the cabin and just as last time we were not let down by the comfort, beauty, or relaxation offered at the cabin! Also, Lucky is very helpful and makes the accommodations as nice and memorable as possible. We will definitely be staying here again!

I stayed here right after the cabin was purchased by Lucky. I walked in and immediatley felt at home. The cabin was warm and clean and decorated with such pride. I have and will continue to recommend ":The Fishing Hole" if you are looking for a great retreat and the wow factor. My niece just married 12-2010 and this is where they spent their honeymoon. What does that say about how nice it is and will be back soon!!

Very clean, decorations were themed and up-to-date. The porch is enclosed, private and you can watch tv while in the hottub. Didn't try fishing but we did feed them anyway.

The Fishing Hole has become our annual wedding anniversary retreat. We have fallen in love with the cabin and the surrounding area. The accomodations are excellent and well above what we have found in previous rentals. Lucky Dawg, the realtor , is very friendly, accomodating and strives to make your visit one you will not forget. We have stayed there for the past several years and have never disappointed. We highly reccommend The Fishing Hole

We enjoyed this property very much. The only draw-back was the difficulty being able to get from the downstairs bedroom to the upstairs main floor. Stairs were tight and uncomfortable so we had to go around outside to get up stairs. The house was very clean and everything was in proper working condition unlike some of the other units we have rented in Pigeon Forge. The pond was a very relaxing place for the whole family to enjoy!

My Friends and I were amazed at just the site of the cabin, sitting by the lake,it was simply beautiful,as if it were a postcard. The details inside the cabin was as remarkable as the outside. We loved our stay, and are planning another trip to the fishing Hole in Febuary 2011. We can't wait!! I would also like to take this time to applaud the owners(Jerry and Tamera Dague) for their commitment to making sure our stay was unbelievable.

Left on 01/04/2011 for a stay in July 2010
The fishing hole cabin in Pigeon Forge was a fun cabin to stay in. Inside are wooden floors and walls, high ceilings, and a full kitchen with breakfast bar. There is a pool table, a bar and sofa in the lower level. Works well for extended family or teens. There is a screened in porch with a hot tub, wrap around deck and a fishing deck. The inside was very up to date and nicely decorated with fishing motif. However the exterior needed some updating. The screened in porch was missing some screens. The wood was very weathered. Around the pond could use trimming/landscaping. As far as location, it is close to pigeon forge, which may not be such a good thing if you want more seclusion, The pool is just across the street, which is nice for children and teens.

We had such a great time. Spent a lot of time inside the cabin and enjoyed it so much. Did some fishing but too much of natures moss to really catch anything but other than that it was great.

My husband and I got married at this cabin on the pier. We wanted a private wedding. Lucky and his beautiful wife Tamera helped us to make it happen. We loved the cabin. It has everything you would need. Loved the privacy. We didn't do any sight seeing as it was our honeymoon ; ) , maybe next time. We recommended it to my aunt and Uncle who stayed there too with another couple, they loved it too.

My husband and I stayed at The Fishing Hole for our anniversary. It was wonderful! The view was perfect. Lucky was wonderful! Anything we needed all we had to do was ask. The cabin was easy to get to but far enough away to have privacy. I would highly recommend The Fishing Hole to everyone who wants a vacation in "the mountains" or just a nice get away.

Johnson City, TNExcellent getaway cabin!
Left on 01/03/2011 for a stay in October 2010
My husband and I love this cabin. He's an obsessive angler, so we get a nice getaway where he can fish without having to go very far (although these fish are really well fed and don't tend to take his bait). The cabin has more amenities than we can use, and we always feel refreshed after staying here.
I rate this place really high, but I only took away a couple of stars because if I'm paying a lot for something, I expect a lot (some people may not consider this place expensive, but on our budget it's a huge splurge). The location is good, but if you plan to spend much time running around in Pigeon Forge, it's a bit far out. It's not bad, but you wouldn't want to just "run to Kroger for a gallon of milk." It's really clean from floor to about 6' up. I don't think the cleaning crew ever looks up to clear away the cobwebs. But this is just me being super picky.
Bottom line is we've stayed here twice and plan to come back!
