Private cabin just minutes to all area attractions. The views alone are breathtaking. Then add in the privacy and natural surroundings plus all the comforts of home. What more can you ask for? This cozy mountain top cabin has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and a game room with a sleeper. Locals say this home has one of the best views in the county. Left on 04/30/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My husband spent many, many hours searching for the perfect lodging for our hiking vacation - and he scored a Perfect Ten with this one!
Working with Ken was a very positive experience - it couldn't have gone any more smoothly. When we had questions, his responses came within a few hours, if not within minutes!
This mountain-top home is absolutely beautiful, with a spacious kitchen, livingroom, game room/sitting room and dining area, and would work great with two couples, with each couple being able to have their own full bathroom and family room areas.
Perhaps our favorite thing of all was the total and complete privacy!!! You will never see a vehicle driving by or a person walking past ... it is amazing! The spacious deck faces south and is completely open to a fantastic view of the mountains for miles either direction. It also sports a wonderful hot tub, and chaise lounges for relaxing in the sun. Even though the temps were only in the 60's in the afternoons, it was easily warm enough to lay out and soak up the sun, the mountains and the bird songs. This was wonderful after coming home from several hours of hikes to beautiful waterfalls each day!
Yet, with all this total privacy, it is only minutes from dozens of restaurants (we love The Old Mill Cafe!) and other amenities.
Also, I got smart this time and brought laundry detergent and dryer sheets from home and did up our laundry the day before we left for home, so everything went home clean! :)
Yes, the driveway is rather steep (I don't like heights and my hubby enjoyed teasing me occasionally) but we didn't have any problems navigating it with our 4-wheel drive Honda CRV.
Don't pass up this beautiful home - you'll be so glad if you choose to rent this one! -

We really enjoyed the cabin rental. It is way up secluded in the mountains with a gorgeous view. The cabin was neat, clean and had all the amenities you need. It was so relaxing and comfortable. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the deck. Even though the spring weather wasn't very warm- we still enjoyed our cabin and the beautiful mountains. The owner was very professional and even sent us a text when our cabin was ready. We would definitely recommend for a great Smokey Mountain vacation.

Columbus, OhioBeautiful Cabin in Perfectly Secluded & Convenient Location
Left on 04/08/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful three night stay in Moonshine Cabin, and we couldn't be happier with our experience (well, maybe if the rain had stayed away). It's rare to find such a perfect combination of convenience, seclusion, amenities, and value in one package.
The location of the cabin is perfect -- it's literally a 5 minute drive off the Parkway just outside Pigeon Forge, but seemingly a world away from all the congestion. The view from the deck is spectacular, with nothing but mountains in every direction and only a few other cabins within view. Because of the elevation of this cabin, nearly all of your neighbors are below you and hidden away behind the tree canopy. Honestly, you'd need a powerful pair of binoculars to even see most of the other cabins. And my guess is that once all the leaves are back on the trees, you'll see even fewer neighbors. This is rare in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area where many cabins are stacked on top of each other like dominoes.
Check in and check out was a breeze. Ken (the owner) emailed us an informational packet several weeks before our stay. We filled everything out and emailed it back to him, and that was it. Entry to the cabin is via keypad, so there was no need to pick up or drop off any keys. We had no issues during our stay, so we literally never heard from or talked to anyone while we were there. I imagine if we had needed assistance, we could have called for it. But we were actually very happy to not have any interruptions to our stay.
The cabin itself is cozy, well decorated and stocked with nearly everything you'll need should you choose to stay in and avoid the crowds. There is even a two car attached garage for secure parking. It's clear that this cabin started out as a log home and was later converted to a rental property. The two bedrooms are a bit smallish with queen beds that take up most of the room. However, the bed we slept on was very comfortable and was more than adequate for my wife and I. Neither bedroom has an attached bathroom, but we think that is because the game room once served as the master bedroom in the house before it was converted to a cabin. It's really not a big deal, but if you're traveling with kids or another couple and prefer to be able to walk to and from the shower privately, you'll need to bring a robe.
In terms of cleanliness, we were very happy with everything except the dishes in the kitchen. Most of the glassware and utensils had a powdery residue (most likely from dishwasher soap that had not fully dissolved or rinsed away). Judging by the cleanliness of the bathrooms and hot tub, I'd say this was probably just an oversight by the cleaning crew. We washed everything by hand while we were there to be sure the dishes were clean. By the way, there is no garbage disposal in the kitchen sink, which just means you need to scrape everything clean prior to washing. Not a big deal.
As far as entertainment goes, we loved the pool table and dart board in the game room, as well as the two flat screen TVs. The only slight frustration we had was with the two DVD players. We brought a couple of movies that we had planned on watching, but could not get either one of them to play in either DVD player (both looked like older models). We ended up watching some movies on HBO instead, but we would suggest the owner have a repair man take a look at the DVD players or perhaps just replace them with newer models or BluRay players to update the technology. The other minor inconvenience was the limited-use WiFi. It would have been nice to be able to have my Kindle hooked up to WiFi the whole time, but I kept having to disconnect to make sure I didn't exceed the usage limit. However, we were very happily surprised to find that we had decent cell phone reception (at&T;), which allowed us to stay connected with our kids, check the weather, etc.
The deck itself is very spacious with a great gas grill, two lounge chairs, an outdoor dining table, and of course, the hot tub. The only thing that would have made the outdoor area even better would be some kind of fire pit for roasting marshmallows, etc. Probably our favorite feature of the cabin was the hot tub. It appears to be an older model, but was very clean and recently had a new pump and (fairly quiet) motor installed. There is plenty of room for 4 people (6 would be doable, but a bit crowded). We loved that the hot tub is located out on the open deck and not hidden away behind a privacy fence. It was very romantic, relaxing in the hot tub and sipping some adult beverages under the stars each night. This is where the privacy and spectacular views are definitely worth every penny.
Speaking of pennies, this cabin was very reasonably priced for everything you get. We would not hesitate to return for another stay, and we feel very fortunate to have found the perfect cabin on our first attempt. On a past trip, we stayed in a lodge right off the strip in Gatlinburg, and we much prefer the seclusion of a cabin. For a romantic getaway or a family stay away from the chaos, Moonshine Cabin gets two very big thumbs up from us. -

We ended up booking this cabin at the last minute as a Plan B for our family. Our college age son was home on spring break and our daughter will be going to college in the fall, and we were looking for some quality family time. Who knows when an opportunity like this will happen again?
Everything was great. It is quiet and gives you a sense of seclusion. We enjoyed the hot tub, the fireplace, cooking on the gas grill, sunning and reading on the porch with gorgeous views during the day and playing Monopoly and billiards at night. Everything you need is right there. I think it's a bargain for what you get. -

We all agreed to fly in to the Mountains for a much needed getaway, my husband and I, along with close friends celebrating their 10th year anniversary. We picked a great location on the edge of Pigeon Forge, just before Gatlinburg. There are endless things to do in both towns or close by zip lining, river rafting, Atv's, horseback riding, hiking, biking, go-karts, dinner theater, sight-seeing in the smoky mountain park, and the list goes on and on.
We have done most of these in the past. What we really needed was to get away and relax and that's exactly what we found at the Moonshine Cabin. Once we arrived at the cabin it took our breath away, the location is spectacular. And it really did relax us upon contact. Both guys and girls enjoyed playing pool while they sipped some good Tennessee whiskey, all along enjoying the wonderful views outside.
It's a beautiful cabin with gorgeous surroundings and lots of details. The deck has a fabulous view of the Smoky Mountains; it has a grill we used for some great steaks and a working Jacuzzi, which we also enjoyed while enjoying the night sky. Very romantic!
The décor of the cabin was very nice, modern and comfortable. We could have brought two more guests if we wished. My Floridian husband loved to play with the fireplace since firewood was provided, but not needed. The cabin was well stocked for possible things we might need, and the management team was always friendly and available for any questions or concerns. It was apparent early on, within hours of our arrival at the cabin we had accomplished our mission, we felt at home and we did not leave the cabin unless we had to.
If you are planning to visit this area or make a stop, the Moonshine Cabin is a place where dreams come, don't pass it up. We all highly recommend it and we hope to visit again real soon.
Sincerely,
Barbara Boncompte

Such a great owner! Mixed icy weather was predicted, and he offered to let us stay the night earlier to avoid it. Unfortunately we had classes, but we braved the drive there anyways. My puny little altima slid on some ice and ended up in the ditch at the bottom of the hill, leaving us to carry our stuff up the hill. Besides that little incident, the cabin was absolutely amazing and definitely a great value! We'll most likely be back there next year!!

If you are looking for a handicapped accessible cabin this is the place to go. We were very pleased with the accessibleness of the cabin. We were also please with all the amenities that came with the cabin such as a hairdryer, shampoo and soap. We also liked how the kitchen was stocked with all we needed to be able to cook food while we were there. The cabin also has Dish service for the TV and WiFi. Both of those were very nice to have on a vacation. The view from this cabin is breathtaking. We also enjoyed the hot tub located on the deck. The cabin is very close to everything that you would want to do while in the Gatlinburg area. If you choose to stay at Moonshine cabin you will not regret it.

Really great cabin. The best thing is the decking and the hot tub, you feel like you are the only people in world when you are out there and the view is excellent! Besides that the rest of the cabin was ideally suited to what we needed. Really liked having the log fire and the pool table in particular. Everything was clean and tidy when we arrived. Can't really think of anything that could have been better! One thing to note is how steep the drive is - our car struggled to get up there particularly when it was wet. But it is definitely worth the climb to get the view from the top!

This was our second visit to Moonshine Cabin and it was better than the first. While relaxing on the deck my wife and I kept saying we could just sit here forever and enjoy the views and peacefulness. The house was spotless, comfortable and well equipped. And the location can't be beat, between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, so you're never more than a very short drive from all the action. It is also very private...no other cabins around you. We stayed at the Moonshine cabin primarily because of the good reviews from others who stayed here. We were not disappointed. The cabin was excellent. Very private with nice views of the mountains. The cabin was well stocked with utinsels. (except for can opener) Everything was clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
The only negative about this cabin is the driveway. The driveway is steep but normal for the mountains. However there are two dips in the driveway that causes the car to scrape bottom. Other then that, no complaints about this cabin.
If you want privacy yet still near Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, this is the place to stay. -

We loved this cabin!!! The view was beautiful, the cabin was clean, the rooms were comfortable, and we felt safe. We were a family of four and would stay again in a heartbeat if we came back. The only thing that didn't go right was the fact that the internet was down for five out of our seven days. We did call the number of the company handling the reservation listed on our contract but no one ever returned our call. The cabin, however was fantastic!

We are so sorry about that. We did locate your call finally. It came in after hours at our office around the same time we experienced a long power outage. I guess because of the power outage we were not notified that we had messages. We do have 2 emergency numbers listed on the contract that would have went straight to maintenance. We hope you get a chance to come back and visit us!

We were seeking a peaceful, relaxing, isolated getaway with modern conveniences (no roughing it please) for a world-weary family. We found exactly that! As the parents we spent a little time shopping and exploring the arts & crafts community of nearby Gatlinburg while our 3 older children spent mornings & early afternoons hiking the area mountain trails. Evenings we had enjoyed great food whether we chose to go to one of the many excellent eating establishments or staying in for a home-cooked meal together. The deck offered a wonderfully relaxing jacuzzi & comfortable seating with a magnificent view of the Great Smoky Mountains! The cabin is a dream get-away! Before we left, we began planning when we could return to Moonshine Cabin for another vacation! Thanks so much for a perfect vacation!

This 2 BR, 2 bath cabin has serenity, beauty, privacy, with all the conveniences. Our group of 5 was very comfortable. There was a futon in the pool room with a TV that was perfect for our teenage son and another couple had the 2nd bedroom. The location is between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, but you have to drive toward G-burg and make a U turn back toward Pigeon Forge if you want to go that way.
The deck has a view of the Smokies that you will never forget! We've stayed in many different cabins over the years, but this one is really special. You can tell that the owner really loves the property and cares for it like a home. There were roses in bloom! And hydrangea! Just gorgeous.
Tip: The driveway is really, really steep and caused our van to scrape bottom a bit at one point and skid at another... every time we went up and down. I was driving the first time we went up and decided to allow my brave husband to take the wheel every time after that! But it was Sooo worth it! Don't think about driving up in a vehicle with low clearance. A 4WD SUV would be ideal for this high mountain cabin. You literally have to drive up the mountain.

The pictures of this cabin do not do it justice. It is a very nice cabin with a homey and secure feeling atmosphere. I thank the owners for sharing it with us. The water has a slight odor from idle time of the system, this was also the case in a cabin that my father owned and used infrequently. If you want peace and quiet, serenity and security this place is great. Don,t go in winter without a surefooted vehicle!

Better than home actually. All the amenities you could want or need. Ken was extremely courteous and prompt with all communications. We actually booked an extra night after our second day there because we didn't want to leave. I will definitely stay there again. Absolutely beautiful! It is so private that even the hot tub is open on all sides. The views are stunning. I especially loved the manicured grounds where we got to see plenty of wild life. The kitchen was well stocked, they even provided spices, salt and pepper. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were soft and smelled great. If you are a frequent visitor to the smokies, you are familiar with the temptation to always find that "better" cabin, or one with that "improved" view or something just a little more private. I can say that now, I have found it! We will be back.

Left on 03/17/2012 for a stay in March 2012
My best friend and I took a "girls trip" up to this cabin for some relaxation and rest. We really did enjoy our time there, but here is the real 411 for any one interested, because I like when reviewers are truely honest.
The great:
- The privacy...you have no one around you and it is wonderful
- The views...Amazing, and on a clear day it looks like you can touch Mt. Leconte.
- The hot tub, pool table, 2 large Tv's, outdoor grill, balcony to overlook the mountains as you eat or relax, outdoor speaker system, comfortable beds, very nice sized kitchen.
The not so great:
- Well water - if you aren't use to it, the smell and taste will get to you. My inlaws have well water out on Ft. Loudon Lake here in TN, but it doesn't smell and taste like this. But they have a water softening system which takes out some of the smell and hard water attributes. But if you are use to well water, you'll be fine. Otherwise, bring drinking water!!
- The wireless internet - This is the first cabin I've stayed at where you have a limit. Do you know how many KB it takes to download a webpage? I honestly have no idea, but I really was concerned about hitting the "limit". The limit is 170MB per day. Those more computer literate may know how much browsing that actually is. Also, I couldn't get a signal except in the living room/dining room area.
Neither good nor bad, just information:
- That driveway is steep the last hundred feet, and has dips in it. I wouldn't suggest a low clearance vehicle. But it isn't smooth asphalt which gives you great traction, and my Jeep Liberty did just fine. You don't get views like that without having to get up a mountain!
- Wood burning fireplace: The manly men who love building fires will love it! The impatient ladies, not so much.
Over all a great cabin, other than the water, and the wireless internet for the traveller who can't leave the internet alone. Really enjoyed our stay here!

Left on 02/10/2012 for a stay in January 2012
This cozy cabin is a jewel tucked in between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
Combines close access to shopping and area attractions with spectacular views and all the amenities of home. Although right between all the action you still have complete privacy and that feeling of being away from it all.
How private? No view of neighbors - clothing optional :)
Kitchen is fully appointed to include pots, pans, utensils, even a griddle for your pancake breakfast. Full size washer and dryer and 2 full baths (with hair dryers) makes it perfect for a group.
Perfect for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. This is more of an individual home in the mountains than a crowded "cabin park". Comes complete with fireplace and an ample supply of wood.
Ken is wonderful to work with (great comms) and has recently updated the cabin to include new carpeting and t.v.. The property is nicely maintained and the landscape maintains a natural feel while incorporating plantings of hyacinth and daffodils, burning bush, hydrangea, & crepe myrtle offer seasonal interest. The interior is spacious yet cozy and tastefully decorated with warm touches that make you feel like you're visiting friends or family.
This was our 4th year visiting and we've never been disappointed! It's a perfect base of operations for your next vacation but if you never leave the property you'll still be more than content.
This is our absolute favorite! Some things you may want to be aware of: expect the driveway to be steep but easily managed with 2 wheel drive - it's worth the view at the top! The cabin is on a well so the water may taste different depending on the water table - grab a couple of extra gallons of drinking water if this matters to you and bring gloves to avoid splinters if you plan on a fire.
If you're still reading go ahead and make your reservation - you'll be glad you did!Response from Ken Snapp - 05/23/2012

We came to the mountains for my husbands 50th Birthday. We were very pleased with the cabin. Plenty of space. Quite & secluded. All the comforts of home but not far away from the attractions of Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. You have a full kitchen to cook if you want or you can go out to eat. Hot tub was wonderful and the view is amazing! I think the only downside is the incline to the cabin, the car bottoms out on the slope, but then anything worth having is worth a little struggle. All in all we love the place and will use it again!!!

As we drove up the winding road to reach the last house on the right, slight pun. The full effect was not seen until the next morning when we rose to the sight of the fog rising from the bottom of the mountains. The sun was rising and the colors of the sky were blue among the floating clouds, breath taking, forwishnI had not seen since leaving Pennsylvania some 15 years ago. I took my husband, son girlfriend and myself to experience the weather. I found the cabin to be in perfect order right down to the clean fireplace with logs and starter and lighter. Nothing was missing, The jacuzzi was even perfect for which my son even got in at 40 degree!!! Thank you for a beautiful and memorable time.

Words cannot describe this amazing "home away from home". We were in awe of how lovely this place was. We only had a short stay, but enjoyed ourselves immensely. Knowing the owner, personally, I knew it would be fantastic...and it certainly was!!! My husband I stayed at the large resort near by a few years ago...that was nice... but the Moonshine Cabin topped it by far!! We loved the view and the peacefulness. We are already looking at the calendar for our next visit!! Thank you so much!!

Booking online was very easy. Had a few questions, emailed Ken he responded immediately. Booked - Confirmation received within minutes. Excellent Customer Service.
Directions made it easy to find. Driveway is a little steep. Outside of cabin/house looks just like the pictures posted. Inside is so homey. Kitchen, dining room and living room w/ sliding glass door is all open. Love this concept. Was not sure of how much the kitchen would be stocked. Was amazed at all the gadgets. Never dreamed there would be martini shaker, martini glasses, coffee thermos for outside, garlic press, wisp, baking, storing containers, lots of silverware. Everything you need and more. Koodos to you Ken you sure know how to stock a kitchen. We appreciated everything.
Both Bedrooms are average size with large closet and dresser. Bed was very comfy. Slept like a baby each night.
Both bathrooms nice size and very clean. Would of been nice to have a few more wash clothes. Plenty of towels.
Game room nice size. Has sliding door onto deck which was great. Pool table was a little uneven (owner made aware). Dart board was nice having cork around so you did not have to worry about hitting wall.
Seperate laundry room was very nice to have. Was surpised had irioning board and iron.
Amazing Deck!!! Nice layout. Perfect night time lighting. There is nothing like sitting in the hot tub looking at the mountains in silence or with music. At night you realize how seculed you are. You only see lights off in the distance. None around you.
Location is Perfect. Half way inbetween Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Being on the mountain makes you feel far away but you are close to everything. Within minutes.
Nice relaxing vacation. Miss having coffee on deck, sitting in hot tub looking at mountains. No mountains in Indiana. Plan on booking next year. Highly recommend!!

The hot tub was delightful and the view was absolutely amazing. It was a short trip to get to either Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. I would recommend this cabin to anyone wishing to have all the comforts of home while on vacation. We will certainly be returning!

My wife and I loved sitting on the deck and staring out over the mountains. We were able to take our dog which made it even more convenient. If we travel to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area again, we will definitley stay at moonshine cabin.

A five star house that is incredibly clean, private, and quiet. The other reviews of this home were so positive that I was a little bit skeptical, but that vanished upon our arrival. The hot tub was wonderful, and my wife and I enjoyed the pool table, as well. The cabin is secluded and private, with no other properties adjoining it, and the views are spectacular. I could go on and on, but let it suffice to say that this is an outstanding cabin that will not disappoint you. Note that the driveway is steep and a little rugged; AWD or 4WD would be a must during snow. Our stay in May of 2011 was wonderful; we recommend this property completely and without reservation.

It was unseasonably cool and rainy for May. The Smoky Mountains shrouded in clouds and graceful mist was beautiful to watch. Nice deck, hot tub, pool table, game room, and fireplace. Check the hydrangea off the side of the deck! Look forward to another stay when the weather changes. Would love to be snowed in there. I imagine each season would make you feel you were in a new setting.

First things first, the owner Ken was very prompt with getting back with us on any questions we had. Once we turned off toward Moonshine Cabin, it was like we went from all the tourist attractions to a secluded mountain cabin in less then 2 minutes. The location is perfect!! The drive to Gatlinburg is 4 miles, the drive to Pigeon Forge is less then 2. The cabin is high on the mountain with awesome views and the best part is there are no other cabins around at all. It is like having a mountian to yourself.. very private. Everything was great and the next time we go, we will for sure be calling Ken to reserve the Moonshine Cabin! I hate to give this review, because now the secret will be out!!!

My husband and I stayed here last May. We try to get to Tennessee every year and by far this is the most secluded and with the best views we have ever stayed at. It is close to everything, but the privacy was wonderful. The kitchen is a cook's dream and the bedrooms and bathrooms were nicely furnished. The only problem we had is the hot tub on the deck is not fenced off and once a dog came wandering by and scared the heck of us. I would install gates to keep the animals out. Did we comment on the views?? This cabin is the best in Tennessee and we would not only recommend it, but plan on returning. Thank you for a relaxing and private vacation.

The views at this cabin are spectacular. I could just hang out on the deck my entire trip. This cabin has everything I needed-hot tub, views, privacy, dog friendly and a very smooth and easy reservation/check in process. I have stayed here twice and about to make a return trip. This is the only cabin I will stay in when visiting the mountains. I found it very peaceful and comfortable here. I highly recommended this cabin especially if you have pets and don't want to deal with excessive unnecessary fees that I have experienced elsewhere.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moonshine Cabin! We had just enough room for our party of 2 adults, 2 children, 1 teen, and a small dog! We hiked in the mountains, went to Cade's Cove, enjoyed some local attractions; then came back to the cabin to enjoy the hot tub, a game of pool, a mean card game, or to just simply relax in front of one of the Tv's!! We can't wait to come back for the beautiful mountain views from the deck!!

This was my first cabin experience in the Smokies and the experience was divine. The secludedness of the cabin is wonderful...you really feel like you have the entire mountain to yourself, and yet, just a short drive to both Pigeon Forge,Gatlinburg, and the GSM National Park. The cabin is tastefully decorated, felt very cozy, and contained all the comforts of home...even a cocktail shaker and martini glasses! Both bathrooms were very well stocked with everything we needed, and the game room contained plenty of entertainment. The key-less entry made check-in a breeze, and the views from the deck are too amazing for words. A midnight Jacuzzi makes for the perfect ending to the busy day. You will not want to leave when the time comes...we sure didn't :O)

We were really impressed with the accommodations at Moonshine Cabin. The house was well appointed with kitchen utensils (although the pots and pans were a little on the thin/flimsy side)...but otherwise, everything was great. The fireplace worked and was beautiful to use, and the bathrooms were all clean and the bedrooms very comfortable. The game room was a nice surprise and offered a fun diversion one night. The privacy was the best part of staying there. We enjoyed the hot tub each day and couldn't believe the views from the deck and how quiet it was. The driveway is a bit steep toward the end, but well worth the climb to the top.

The Moonshine Cabin was perfect for a long weekend. It had everything we needed for a fun family get-together. We loved the hot tub and combo ping pong and pool table. There was firewood in the garage and the two care garage was great as well. We loved the whole atmosphere.
The drive was a little steep and we probably should have had a four wheel drive, but my caddy made it up okay.
The view was magnificent! We would definitely return.
