Small apartment for 2 people, situated in the Castle of Orciatico. A complete kitchen, a bedroom with 2 single or 1 double bed. A bathroom with tub/shower over, wc. In the apartment, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, electric jug, toaster, 'SKY' television, Wifi connection, hairdryer, CD player/radio/alarm, iron/ironing board, ceiling ventilator, heating and many other useful items.

Orciatico is located in the heart of Tuscany in a very central position between historical and artistic towns and cities; Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Volterra, San Gimigniano, and is only 30 kms from the sea. There are wonderful views of the... Tuscan countryside from different angles in the village, and on a clear sunny day the Leaning Tower of Pisa can be seen. The village offers a very relaxing and peaceful stay.

Orciatico is an ancient medieval village. Its castle, which was founded by Longobards in the seventh century, was the outmost bulwark of the valley of the river Era. For this reason, Volterra, Pisa and Florence contended it continually.

Today the village has little more than 200 habitants, all of them friendly, and the castle now contains residential and holiday apartments. Orciatico is surrounded by vast woods and rolling countryside. It may well be the starting point of full immersion in uncontaminated nature. There are natural phenomena (such as the emission of carbon dioxide at 'I Borboi') and you can view the remains of time gone by, such as the fortress of Pietracassia (a medieval castle, whose ruins dominate the valley of the torrent Fosce from the top of a wooded hill) or the windmills (the ruins which can be seen and recently have been restored) just a short walk from the village.

In the village, there are two grocers, a restaurant, a bar, a post office, a bank, a doctors surgery and a tennis court. A town with all shops is Lajatico (the birthtown of our most famous italian tenor, Andrea Bocelli) which is 5 kms away, supermarkets are within 10 minutes by car.Read more

  This is a lovely apartment in a fantastic location for touring the Pisa area of Tuscany. It is in a central position to visit Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Siena and San Gimignano. Very close to Volterra which is reached by travelling through some wonderful countryside. The apartment is located in the quiet hillside village of Orciatico which has fantastic views of the surrounding area. Everyone there is so friendly and it has a good, reasonably priced restaurant, bar and shop. Our host, Jill, is very welcoming and is always on hand to provide any assistance to make your holiday complete. Some provisions are provided in the kitchen to get your holiday off to a good start. All in all a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Would definitely like to return!
