We always rent a home for vacations and weekends away, and are familiar with bringing everything but the kitchen sink with us just in case. Twin Ponds was a welcome exception to the "in-case" scenario. Beautiful inside with a myriad of furnishings and artifacts from the incredible orchid which greeted us on the kitchen table to the window leg lamp from "A Christmas Story", Steinway piano, lovely china and an amazing antique looking push button stove and cooktop with a built in steamer. The kitchen left us wanting for nothing. The view from the back deck is gorgeous. Looking over one of the three ponds to a large expense of field we witnessed a large blue heron, turtles, kingfisher and what we finally identified as a "Least Bittern", along with the occasional splashing of jumping fish. The bed is super comfortable, and while it took a little while to get used to the steam shower (couple of slight accidents after realizing you need to have the doors closed while operating...sorry), I am a convert to this method of waking up. Struggle a few paces from the bed in the morning, sit in the shower, turn on the steam and gently perspire for about 15 minutes before the conventional morning shower...with music from the built in radio if you wanted. Amazing.
The grounds are expansive with three ponds and two hot tubs (one propane and one wood fired). We only used one - I mean how many do you really need? We picked some fresh basil from the garden for our meals, and spent many happy hours either hot-tubbing or simply enjoying the view on the deck with very comfortable chairs, a frosty mug (supplied) of beer (also one supplied), or a glass of champagne (also supplied). Not so bad.
We stayed 4 nights and would have loved more. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, stress free experience where everything is supplied, everything is good quality and everything works, this is your place. Civilization is only 10 minutes (or less), but you feel you are a million miles away. My guess is if we needed anything, our hosts would be more than happy to oblige....but we didn't need anything. Our thanks for a great long weekend.
Note: For all you city slickers, bring some sort of repellant in season. It's the country, and there are bugs especially at night (shocking really). We bought citronella's and they worked. Read more

Amazing anniversary weekend
Our stay at Twin Ponds farmhouse was exactly what we needed-a romantic weekend of pampering and overdue relaxation time. We treated ourselves to some wonderful foods, drinks, and conversations while enjoying the homes many amenities like the big screen TV and the sauna. At night, we fall asleep to the sounds of the stream flowing outside our window; sooo soothing.
When we did venture outside, it was to soak in the wood hot tub; which Karen and Mike were so kind to setup for us earlier than usual. We even took a soak during an ice storm and must say the experience was magical!
Our dog also enjoyed her time in the country. She loved running in the large open field, she even rolled around in the deer dropping-for some reason they were irresistible to her. The property is located on a large piece of land which includes two ponds, a stream, and a large open field that is away from the road so it we felt safe letting her off leash.
Thank you again Karen and Mike for being so accommodating and throwing and extra night stay. We really appreciate it and will be back! Read more
Thank you for being our first spring guests. You got to experience it all! Beautiful spring and winter weather. Bet you never thought you would wake up to 6 inches of snow in April.
Hope you both will come back to see the fire flies light up the fields with their magic this summer and for our fantastic fall foliage.

Our stay at Twin Ponds was very enjoyable. The fishing was great, and we were even able to keep and eat the fish!!! Nice and comfortable furnishings. The bed and sofa were so very, very comfortable. Loved the rugs by the bed - felt so good under bare feet. Neat shower, and comfortable soaking old time tub. Kitchen was well supplied with good quality and pretty dishes and glasses, pots and pans, and utensils - even had spices and butter for our use. Very convenient to have paper products and linens supplied. Loved having a piano to play!! Great mixture of antique and modern. Owners very quickly respond to any problems or questions. House very close to a restaurant. Would recommend this to other couples for a nice and peaceful get away.
This house was perfect for a relaxing getaway from the city.

I love this house! It's gorgeous and in excellent condition. The kitchen was well stocked (although the knives could use a good sharpening) and has an awesome antique stove. We loved cooking here while looking out over the ponds and large meadow just outside the window. The hot tub was amazing - what a location! Sitting and looking up at the stars was very relaxing. Additionally, the location of the property is near to Ricketts Glen State Park, where we had a great hike, as well as Scranton and Old Forge, where we went on a tour of an old coal mine and ate delicious pizza. The farm stands along the winding roads offered wonderful produce and the rolling hills made for a beautiful afternoon drive. I can't wait to go back!! Thank you, Mike and Karen, for providing such a lovely, clean and welcoming home.

This place is awesome! My husband and I came out for a "babymoon" and spent a long weekend here. The grounds and house are charming and very well-kept. Karen and Mike are very easy to work with, and we appreciated their laid-back (but still attentive) attitude. The ponds, back meadow, and front/side yards are so pretty!!! And the inside of the house is great -- it has everything from towels/linens to Dvds/videos to books to dishes, etc. We ate at the appletree Restaurant at the bottom of the road one night, and the foods and service were very good. We would highly recommend this house and will probably go back again someday.

This home is absolutely beautiful -- impeccably clean, comfortably furnished, and accurately represented. The owners where very generous, welcoming, and easy to work with. We arrived for a short weekend away from it all and left feeling as though we had made new friends. We are definitely looking forward to visiting them again soon!
Amazing retreat from the hustle and bustle of life
Left on 01/21/2013 for a stay in January 2013 | Lisa
I arrived to an immaculate and beautiful farmhouse that felt like home to me. The decor was beautiful (except for the leg lamp) the place was welcoming and I was sorry to leave. The piano was beautiful and the sound that came from it made me feel like a real pianist. The Steinway piano, I must admit, was the main reason I picked Twin Ponds. But the place was lovely and I really enjoyed my stay. The owner was very cordial and accommodating and I'd really like to adopt her as my second mom. I can't wait to return. I was planning to come back in the summertime, but I don't think I can wait that long. Seriously, it felt like home to me. It was remote enough to enjoy that country feel and getting away from it all, yet there is a Starbucks and a Wegmans within half an hour of the place, so I felt like it was close enough to civilization yet far enough to relax. You will love it here! I know I did.

My husband and I needed to escape the city. We found our way to Twin Ponds and escape we did... Imagine a historic and beautifully restored cabin against the backdrop of a picture perfect country setting then add in generous amenities...this and more turned our two-day respite into the perfect getaway. Anything you might want is at your finger tips here...a perfectly dreamy and comfortable bed, a soaking tub, a multi-jet steam shower, a fully equipped country kitchen, a fabulous grill, reclining sun chairs that are the most comfortable things in the world to fall asleep in while reading, a comfy sectional sofa for good cuddling and magical surroundings bursting with life...the proverbial babbling brook right out side the window and three fabulous fishing ponds with views of the surrounding country side...really? For a delightful and transformative get away what more do you need? Perhaps only a pair of binoculars for better hawk and heron and beaver viewing! Here's to you! Enjoy your stay!

She even gave us a a gift certificate for a meal at the restaurant nearby! The kitchen is fully furnished. The place is clean and the piano was even tuned. It's a quiet neighborhood. We loved our recent stay at Twin Ponds although it was just a quick overnight in the dead of winter, The scenery was so awesome that we would like to return when it is warm enough to sit outside and fully enjoy the deck and fire pit, not to mention falling asleep to the sound of the babbling brook.

Just spent 3 days at Twin Ponds and had a wonderful time. If you are looking to get away for some R&R;, or to reconnect with your significant other, this is the place. You will have the house and the property all to yourself, and believe me it is very secluded and private. The home is very quaint, but also has all of the conveniences of home. It has a small deck with 2 lounge chairs off the back that is very private and looks out over the property and adjacent meadow (great for sunbathing or to stargaze and night), two great bathrooms, one with a antique soaking tub, one with a modern jetted shower, an antique dining room with china for a nice romantic dinner, a very comfortable living room to lounge in, a full kitchen with everything you could possibly need (homeowner even left us some supplies in the fridge - wine, stuff for breakfast, snacks), and a very inviting bedroom with extremely comfortable bed. I have been stayed at dozens of bed and breakfasts over the years, and sleeping has always the biggest challenge, but between the bed and the babbling brook outside the bedroom window, you will have one of the best nights sleep ever. There isn't much in the area, so if you want to go out to dinner, it is at least a 10 - 15 minute drive to get there (there was a restaurant about 1 mile away, but they stopped serving dinner at 8 PM - LOL, talk about your small town), Mohegan Sun Casino was about 20 minutes away. Believe me though, you won't want to leave the property, we brought most of our meals, went out to the casino one night and did whitewater rafting one afternoon.
So if you are looking to get away for some peace and quiet without the kids, this is the place. Bring your dog though if you have one, they will love it as much as you.

My husband and I went for a week (July 2-6) to Twin Ponds and we were more than pleasantly surprised. The cottage was roomy and well appointed. There were a full array of cooking and serving pieces that it felt like we were at a member of our own family's house. The bathrooms were spotless and full of personal touches that made you feel welcomed and comfortable. All bath accessories were in full supply as well. The kitchen was ample enough to contain our giant dog's bed. The best part was the baby grand piano in the living room. It was beautiful to play the piano in the middle of such peacefulness while the birds chirped in the background. At night being lulled to sleep with the sounds of the stream was lovely and the bed was super comfortable. My husband fished in the second pond. He cooked on the grill everyday! There also are 2 outdoor stoves that he enjoyed very much making fires in. We saw a doe and her two fawns, a couple of rabbits that lived under a bunch of branches, many red winged black birds that lived among the cattails in front of the ponds. The tree in front of the main door housed a pair of frisky squirrels and a chipmunk. On our second day a a heron flew out of the second pond. It was nature at its best! We met the owners Karen, Mike and their daughter. They were very friendly and good people. The road in front of the house was very quiet. Read more

My husband, puppy and I had a wonderful thanksgiving weekend at the twin ponds property. The house had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was a delight to use and to eat in with the wonderful mountain view off the porch. One of the highlights of the home is the bed (the most comfortable mattress of my life) and the spa shower. Sal was extremely helful with offering ideas of where to go. We just wanted a quiet weekend away from the city and this fit perfectly. We cooked together and enjoyed classic movies and nature walks. We will definitely be going back in the spring to enjoy the beauty nature has to offer in the area then.

Absolutely charming! The stress of everyday life starts to melt away the moment you pull onto the property. From the rockers on the porch to the plush micro-fiber sheets on the bed, everything invites you to relax and unwind. The word we thought of when we walked in the door was "lovely." Karen has taken every consideration for the comfort of her guests. You could not ask for a better host. The kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked and every amenity you could possibly think of is provided. We enjoyed sipping wine, reading and wandering the beautiful property. Great country vacation getaway; but not too far from the "big city." Would love to return!

This is one great place to unwind, relax and connect with nature. This private little gem is nestled away in a quaint village, but has all the modern things you want, like a steam shower and a comfy bed. The ponds are beautiful, and hearing the frogs and watching nature was a pristine experience. The hosts were awesome and treated us like family. We will be looking forward to a return visit.
