      The hammock is out-of-this-world peaceful.

Left on 05/30/2013 for a stay in May 2013

Angie is helpful, honest and conscientous. She steered us in the right direction for tours, groceries, dining, transport. The apartment on the second floor was spacious, homey, comfortable, quirky. Great shower! It has no aC, but that went unnoticed thanks to the incessant breeze from the carribean. I spent hours reading in a hammock on the ocean-side porch; ate meals there, watching the frigate birds hang and soar, sat there at dusk listening to the geckos squawk at each other.
Everything was within walking distance. The area is an out-of-the-way, tiny fishing village in southern Belize, convenient to a few Mayan ruins and lovely reefs. The locals are a mixed bag of ex-pats and Belizeans - friendly and willing to engage in relaxed conversation. In early May, the beach was almost completely deserted. Occupy your time with day-sailing, snorkeling, sunbathing, river tours. Get out of the sun in any one of several friendly open-air bars or restaurants, but do get out of the sun after a few hours. A truely relaxing change of pace. Planning a return visit.

      Unbeliezable

Left on 05/04/2013 for a stay in April 2013

The whole stay was great. The weather was unusually hot for this time of year ( 105F+-) the whole stay. That did not interfere with our comfort at the apt. The ceiling fans and the tradewinds kept us comfortable. The rest of our comfort came from our host angie. She catered to our every need. We did not need much as the apt was very well furnished with the items that you needed and many others that you might not expect were also there. We stayed in the upstairs apt. but had the oppurtunity to view the downstairs as well, any everyone was in excellent shape.I can not say enough about our stay it was by far one of our better trips and would highly recommend it. If you do go be sure to say hello to angie and give her a hug from Mike and Bonnie. Don't forget to book your side trips through Ocean Motion and say Hi to LaVerne also.

      Awesome!

Left on 03/13/2013 for a stay in February 2013

This was our first stay at The Flamboyant Tree apt. Third trip to Placencia. We stayed in the upstairs apartment (#1). From the moment we booked the two weeks (last July), Angie was communicative and very accommodating. Upon our arrival, Angie was waiting at the airport for us, had Belikans in the fridge, and a good walk thru. (from here the wife takes over, I thought the accommodations were excellent...Charlie).

Angie was a very accommodating hostess with everything needed for a 'care-free' stay: sunblock, bug spray, beach chairs (the envy of everyone else on the beach) and the list goes on and on...

While there is no air conditioning in the upstairs unit, it had ceiling fans; between the fans and the tradewinds...we were very comfortable. That's not usually the case for folks from Oregon.

Angie took care of the outside of the property throughout our stay and was available (with fresh linens and towels) at the perfect times.

Our only regret is that we (probably) won't return to The Flamboyant until next February.

      Thank you angie!
      Charles and Deanna

Left on 01/31/2013 for a stay in December 2012

My daughter and I stayed in the smallest (one bedroom) apartment downstairs for a month. We loved that it was right in the village. There were plenty of great places to eat and shop all along the sidewalk. The beach was only two minute walk down a sandy trail behind the house. The neighborhood was quiet and it was very safe for two women traveling alone. No dogs barking or roosters crowing at night! The aC was a blessing after a full day in the sun. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to make most of own meals for the time we were there. Angie, the owner, is the nicest person and provides awesome service. She picked us up at the Municipal airport and even loaned us a cell phone so we could call her if we needed anything or had questions. We highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to stay right in the village and still enjoy a quiet stay. Suzanne and Deanne

Left on 01/24/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We had a fine time at the Flamboyant Tree apts. We liked having the beach nearby, though we didn't spend too much time there. We liked the location of the Flamboyant. There is enough nearby to give us a variety of little trips out for grocieries or eating out, and we rented bikes from a place on main street for the week and so went for a couple or three hour bike ride every day up the Placencia road, turning off at every opportunity. A few years ago my friends rented a place out in the sticks from Placencia village and got bored. ( It was raining a lot when they were there). This was just the right setting for us. We also had a lot of rain the first week of 2013 while we were in Placencia, but hey, where I'm from if you can walk in to the ocean and go for a swim to get out of the rain you are still winning big time.

Fabulous time at the Flamboyant Tree apartments in Placencia!

Left on 01/19/2013 for a stay in December 2012

We are a family of 4, with 2 young boys, ages 5 & 7 from Iowa. This was our first trip to Belize and angie, owner of the Flamboyant Tree apartments, was a wonderful host. We stayed in the bottom apartment for 5 nights, and it was quiet, clean, and in the perfect location for a very short walk to the beach or many of the restaurants or small shops and grocery stores. We loved lounging in the hammocks in the early morning or late evening and enjoying a breakfast or dinner on the patio too. Angie provided us with great insight about the area with a smile and sense of humor that made us feel right at home. I would definitely recommend at stay at the Flamboyant Tree apartments if you are taking a visit to Placencia!
      Regards and happy travels!

      Paradise

Left on 04/23/2012 for a stay in March 2012

This trip was something totally different for us. We wanted to stray from the all inclusive and found paradise in Placencia. Angie, our host met us as the "corner", helped walk our luggage up the little sidewalk to our apartment and got us settled. We walked in to a beautiful apartment, fresh flowers in each room and a wonderful breeze blowing through the upper apartment. Only a very short walk put us on the beach where we enjoyed the breeze along with a great place to swim, the ability to watch the water traffic and we even got to watch the dolphins one afternoon playingin the channel. Each evening we walked the sidewalk over to the wonderful resturants throughout Placencia and met with many of the "soon to be friends", (locals) Most mornings we could find angie raking the sand off and had our little chats while we watched our iguana friend in the palm trees off the decks. We couldn't have asked for a more gracious and helpful host if we had tried. The apartment is amazing, we always felt safe and hope that this is the first of many return trips to our little peace of heaven. Thanks again angie!

Very comfortable clean and quiet house in Placencia.

Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My husband and I spent a week in this lovely home in Placencia. It is conveniently located on the sidewalk - a two minute walk to the pier and beaches. The house was extremely clean and comfortable and we loved the super king size bed and fans in every room. The kitchen was very well supplied and organized. A very private covered porch with 2 hammocks on the beach side was a nice place to relax - especially with gentle ocean breezes blowing in. Angie was a great hostess and checked in with us a couple times to see if we needed anything. She even left us a cell phone in case there was a problem. We would highly recommend this apartment for a couple or a family of 3.

I want to keep it a secret

Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012

The 2nd floor rental unit was beautiful, large, had a fully stocked kitchen, and nice decks. All the windows are screened, and open to allow a lot of cross ventilation breezes, and the ceiling fans help with the heat too. There was only one day that we would've liked an AC unit, because it was so muggy and no breeze. The location is right on the sidewalk, near the dock, and easy walk to grocery and restaurants. The owner, Angie, was a lovely Brit, who made us feel welcome, made herself available, without being obtrusive. The place has wifi that worked all the time, the decor was very pretty wood, with high ceilings, giant bathroom, hammocks on the back deck. The pictures I saw online dont do it justice, its that nice. Theres an ocean, but not beach view, which was fine by me, and the sunrise came right through our bedroom window so beautifully every morning, I havent seen so many sunrises on any trip. Didnt see any scary bugs, just some very tiny ants in the kitchen whenever we forgot to wipe up. The master bed was king size, and pretty comfy, a bit on the firm side. There were books to read, and TV, which we never watched. It also was very secure. One thing about Placencia, unrelated to the rental, was that the beaches were covered with stinky seaweed and garbage, which had washed up from stormy weather. People told us it wasnt usually that way, but the beach was mostly unpleasant during our week long stay.

Personal attention + great place to stay

Left on 03/21/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My friend and I found this place on the web and were impressed right away with the responsiveness to all our questions before we booked. The studio apartment is spacious and gave us plenty of room to have separate areas. It contained every possible necessity (coffee maker, microwave, hair dryer, beach towels, etc.) and plenty of storage (two wardrobes) so we weren't tripping over ourselves. Two hammocks in the shaded patio were a welcome addition. Angie was terrific in helping us get the lay of the land, ideas of what to do, where to book tours, ins and outs of the various restaurants, best snorkeling spots, etc. and was just plain friendly. We were able to call her during our stay with questions if necessary, and once when the wifi went down (my fault!) she came over and fixed it right away. As for location, it is a short walk to - well everywhere. Unless you want to be right on the beach, I'm sure you will be happy here. We both highly recommend Flamboyant Tree and plan to return next year ourselves.

We stayed in the lower section of the Flamboyant Tree apartments (#1) and found the apartment very clean and spacious. It is equipped with a full kitchen suite, living room, dining room area with a king-size bed. The bathroom is large with a walk-in shower, sink with cabinet and toilet. The accomdations included satellite TV and Wifi. The apartment is located about 300 yards from the ocean side beach with easy access. Our stay was for one month and bedding and towels were supplied frequently. The only negative I would add is that the unit does not have aC included and it would have been advantageous as the weather was quite warm and humid.

Can't wait to go back - a wonderful place to stay!

Left on 03/30/2011 for a stay in February 2011

We enjoyed our time at the Flamboyant Tree apartments so much! We stayed in apartment 1 on the ground floor for one week, and my parents rented the larger apartment for almost their entire stay of nearly 2 months (January and February). Both apartments are wonderful, and had everything we could asked for in a comfortable, inviting, beautiful place to stay. The apartments are spacious and well crafted, and in a very desirable location in Placencia. We were very impressed with the high quality and look of the apartments, with fine woodwork and pleasant decor throughout (not cheap or tacky like many places!)

Although the apartments are not on the beach, they are just steps away from it. I loved the location - right on the Placencia sidewalk and within close walking distance to cafes, restaurants/bars, water acitivities, etc. There is a great bakery right next to the apartments which was quite handy for breakfasts. We ate out a lot, but the kitchens had all the cookware, utensils, dishes that we needed and my parents used their kitchen a lot on their longer stay. One of the best parts of the apartments were the balconies - big and spacious and a great place to read or take a nap.

Angie was super helpful and made every effort to accomodate us when needed. She let us borrow her snorkel gear which we really enjoyed, and had plenty of beach towels for our use.

Overall I thought this was a fantastic place to take a vacation (and affordable!!) and hope to go back as soon as possible. It will definitely be our go-to place whenever we vacation again in Belize.

      Excellent Value and convenient location

Left on 03/25/2011 for a stay in March 2011

Starting with pick up from the local airport we liked angie, the owner, right off. She took us to the Flamboyant Tree, where we rented the top floor for 7 days then since it was rented we moved to the lower apt. for another 8. The entire experience was great. Fresh cut flowers were in vases all around the place and the view from the top deck was great. We spent a good deal of time in the 2 hammocks reading and taking it all in. Large kitchen, full frig, blender, coffee maker, microwave. All you need to cook great meals, which we did. The upstairs bthrm was really good size, The futon sofa is not very comfortable, that's the only negative I can think of. A very roomy place for 2. We moved downstairs and we're concerned we'd really miss the view and the ambiance. Not true. We loved it just as much, in some ways more. Its one great room, the furniture is all comfortable and the kitchen very complete. There are 4 ceiling fans plus one in the bthrm, so it stayed very comfortable early-mid March. The porch was quiet and private. We could hear the couple upstairs moving around above us, but it never got overly loud. Angie was so concerned, but we did just fine. Very close to shops and restaraunts Highly recommend the Flamboyant Tree. We will definitely stay her again!

Enjoyed our stay at the Flamboyant and would definitely return.

Left on 02/22/2011 for a stay in January 2011

We stayed there January 22 - 26th, 2011. We both liked the apartment as well as the location. We were met at the airport by the owner angie and she took us to the apartment at no charge to us. That in itself was a pleasant surprise. The location is good, right in the middle of Placentia along the boardwalk. Quiet at night - no problems with noise. The place was clean, tidy and the bathroom was modern. In addition the widows and doors had beautiful screens that allowed a nice breeze. You do not require a/c as there was always a nice cross breeze.

The kitchen was stocked with a coffee pot w/coffee and tea. Could use a newer frying pan and a few nice pots to cook on the stove if you are into cooking, however there are plenty of restaurants nearby.

Close walk to the beach which was nice for an afternoon dip.

Large size bed, good for 2 people. You could have maybe 2 smaller children on the hide-a-bed but not appropriate for an additional 2 adults. Great place for a family.

Liked the fact that angie had some time on the telephone card in the apt so we could contact her or use the phone if we needed one.

Only one dislike and that was the sand walkway leading to the apt as it made it hard to move our luggage wheels and we constantly tracked sand into the place making the floors a little dirty.

The Flamboyant Tree apartment: Great value and location in Place

Left on 01/19/2011 for a stay in January 2011

The Flamboyant Tree apartment (Studio apartment on lower level) was an excellent place to stay for our family of 4 (with two teenaged sons) for six nights. The proprietor, Angie, was friendly and helpful; she paid for our taxi from the airstrip, and even loaned us some snorkel gear. This lower studio apartment was spacious enough for all of us and had a full kitchen set up for everytng we needed, so we could have meals there, including a juicer (which came in handy for breakfast juices made from fresh oranges, etc. bought from the local produce stand!). It was clean and nicely decorated. We enjoyed the hammocks on the patio, and used the clothesline there too. It had a nightstand with a locking drawer. Tv and wireless internet were included, even though we didn't use that. The Flamboyant is in a great location - situated near the center of town and within easy walking distance of the restaurants, tour companies and stores. It was also a short walk to the public access beach. It was not noisy (even on New Year's Eve). On top of all that, it was reasonably priced, comparable or better than the other places in Placencia that we researched. Stay there!

We found Flamboyant Tree to be a fabulous apartment, in a great location between the sea and the "Sidewalk," and a terrific value. The apartment was roomy and beautifully detailed, and the balcony was enormous and a perfect place to nap in the provided hammocks during the hot part of the day. We didn't need a car. Angie, our host, picked us up at the tiny Placencia airstrip, and you can take boats or taxis anywhere. A short boatride to snorkeling and river/jungle trips. Good restaurants for such an out-of-the-way place. Best of all was angie, a lovely and friendly host. We didn't want to leave.

      Relaxing and Awesome!!

Left on 04/18/2010 for a stay in March 2010

We rented the upstairs apartment for the first two weeks in March, after numerous questions/emails back and forth that our host Angie answered promptly and precisely. Upon arrival, we were greeted with fresh flowers and supplied with coffee, tea, bath towels, hand soap, cleaning supplies and all the amenities we needed in the way of cooking and appliances. The apartment was spacious, clean and well-maintained. The mahogony wood interior showed excellent craftmanship. The master bedroom had a king-sized bed and the second bedroom had a single bed. The bathroom was larger than mine at home! There were fans in every room and only on hotter days/nights were they needed as the windows throughout circulated the sea breezes beautifully. The only kitchen appliance we didn't have was a dishwasher and there was no ironing board, but we did have an iron. The view of the Caribbean from the verandah was gorgeous as we laid out in the two hammocks after our swim in the sea, just a two minute walk away. The beach was sandy and a perfect water temperature. Also, just along the "sidewalk" going to the beach we could purchase fresh fish off the boats daily. We did miss BBQ'ing them but the gas stove did the trick. We shopped in the village daily. Angie was a wealth of knowledge as to where to shop, eat, obtain tours (Ocean Motion Tours was just across the sidewalk.) We really enjoyed her hospitality and willingness to accomodate any requests. When we ran out of dish detergent, towels, light bulbs etc. they were quickly replenished. We felt safe enough that we could leave the upstairs balcony door open all day even when we were out. We even had cable TV! We had a great time. We would recommend this place to even our pickiest of friends! Hats off to Angie!
