We had 4 couples and 4 children and loved it. The pool on the beach and the great restaurants in Placencia (and the extra golf cart) made this place a jewel to sty at. Also, Rueben and Marissa mated our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Pull out bed/couch needs a better mattress but no other complaints in a week. Airport pickup greatly appreciated.

We stayed 2/2013 and had one of the best trips we have ever had as a family. The house is beyond beautiful, spacious and so clean. The pictures on the website in my opinion do not do the house and grounds justice. There are 4 beautiful bedrooms and more bathrooms than you could use!
Ruben, not exactly sure of his title since he was so unbelievably helpful, (manager?), was so generous with his time and energy. He took us at our request to many sight seeing tours and was very patient with our million questions. He made himself available and never seemed to mind helping us.
Marissa, who cleans the house was very kind also,, none of our requests seem to put her off, and she keeps the house spotless (which can't be easy) with wet sandy people!
I don't know if we will be able to get back there in the future but I would definetly love to be able to stay there again. -

We stayed at Casa Del Sol for two weeks over the Thanksgiving Holiday during November 2012. Our travel group included two seniors (80+), three children (4, 3 & 1) and four adults. The house staff was excellent, making sure that they made us feel very welcome and safe at all times. Ruben cooked for us on several occassions and he is an excellent cook. We enjoyed every dinner! He even made us a full-fledged american Thanksgiving Dinner, how nice it was to just sit down to a home-made Thanksgiving dinner!
The house itself is nice and having the two kitchens and two living areas for our large group was nice. The large loggia was a great place for the kids to play in the shade and they loved the pool and the two hammocks. The beach unfortunately, has been ruined by a seawall that has been installed. About two feet into the ocean there is a wooden seawall that attacts bugs and collects the gargbage that floats in. It was not a nice place to go swimming in the ocean, but the kids still had fun playing in the sand. Be careful about going to the beach between 3-6pm as the sand flies will bite you and you don't even know it. Just a short walk down the beack towards town and you can find excellent swimming beaches; just not in front of the house. Beware, the beds in this house are very hard. The Grandparents had a hard time sleeping on them and they aggravated my husband's bad shoulder. Being close to Placencia Village made this house worth the extra $ as compared to some of the other rentals in the Maya Beach area. It was so unique to ride the golf cart into town to get ice cream, buy our daily fresh fruits and pick up a loaf of bread from John the Bakerman. I don't think our kids ever wore shoes on this trip! We would go back to Casa del Sol, especially if the sea wall was removed! Many thanks to the house staff for making us feel at home during our two week adventure to Belize. Also, do not book this house through Villas Caribe, just go directly through Veronique. I found and booked the house on Villas Caribe and we just ended up having a bigger service charge and a middle man. -

We stayed in the one bedroom apartment at Casa Del Sol. Very nice and the caretakers went above and beyond what they needed to do to make our stay enjoyable. The only disappointment we had was "sharing" the other half of the complex for the week-end. There was suppose to be 4 adults and 3 children and the party brought in 10 adults and 12 children...needless to stay they "took over" the whole area. Our advise is to ask "who will you be "sharing" the complex with. We were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary and we were secluded to our room or going to town to get away from all the activity. We were not able to use the pool area at all for two days. The first part of the week was great. The complex is close enough to town to walk or ride your bike to go out eat and explore but far enough so you aren't right in the middle of town. The kitchen and living areas of the one bedroom apt. are nice. Don't expect to cook...the utensils and pans are pretty worn and the kitchen is not real well equiped, but I wasn't expecting to cook on this vacation anyway.

I stayed at Casa del Sol over Christmas 2010 with my parents (in their 70's), husband, and two 4 year-old boys. We all adored Casa del Sol! The house was absolutely perfect, with the exception of the too firm mattresses (I am a side sleeper and prefer a soft mattress), but I put an extra comforter under the fitted sheet and that worked fine. The boys swam in the pool multiple times daily, and we watched them build sand castles just beyond the pool while we relaxed on the lanai. Rubin and his family were wonderful, and the kids loved playing together. We took many walks along the beach by the house, and made extensive use of the golf cart. Our Monkey River trip was brilliant! We also loved the green iguanas that climbed up into the trees right by the upper lanai. We did get a bit of rain, and our last day was so cold we cancelled our snorkeling plans. We had several lovely meals cooked by Rubin, and also excellent meals in town. I was a bit frustrated that Placencia was so far from most of the attractions of Belize (but I was the only one). Most things of interest were over 2 hours' drive, but I would have known this if I had researched properly. The truth is that we all fell in love with Casa del Sol when we saw it online, and nothing else mattered. If I were to return to Belize (and I hope to), I think I would stay farther north, the better to visit the Mayan ruins, zipline, etc. I love to explore and adventure on vacation, but the rest of my family were perfectly content to relax at Casa del Sol, and I know they would all return in a heartbeat.

This house was beautiful and immaculately kept. The grounds were lush and the private beachside swimming pool was a great repite from the heat. The couple that manages the property was sweet and accomodating and even let us use their golf cart to go back and forth into town. With the exception of the bed mattress being hard as a rock, our experience was great!

Casa Del Sol is a beautiful guest house with direct access to the beach. Off-set from the other guests homes in the area, but within walking distance of the local bars and restaurants.
The caretakers went out of their way to ensure that I was comfortable. The one bedroom unit was clean and well equipped.
