Placencia was a huge, positive surprise to us, and we have traveled the world. The locals are eagerly warm and provide many services in the village with sincere hospitality. The villa is an artform in itself, using a variety of Belizean wood that is perfectly matched at every corner. Having a full kitchen allowed us to walk to the fish market to choose from the morning catch, and stay in to enjoy the spacious verandas, varieties of tropical flowers and birds and the sunset from the tower. The white-sand beach is just across the street, and there are many first-rate restaurants to consider every night. It's a good idea to rent a golf cart if you're staying a week or more (which is highly recommended), as you can drive them on all the roads on the pennisula. There are many areas to explore on your own or sign up for one of the many tours offered in the center of the village. This villa is conveniently on the main road, but it is private enough to take a leisurely afternoon nap. If you're looking for a relaxing couple of weeks, or if you're interested in ocean and outdoor activities, this would be an ideal choice. We can't wait to go again!

The rental is wonderful. Short walk to shops, beach restaurants. Immaculate. Beach in Placencia is so-so, arrange a boat to take you out to the reef (26 miles) or close in coral heads. Stop at Blue Hole on the drive down and swim in aqua blue pool in the middle of the jungle.
