Welcome to Ventana Del Mar! For those of you looking for a true Costa Rican experience without the hustle of vacation resorts and tourist traps, You've found the right location. Built in 1997, and expanded in 2004 our home was designed to accommodate our three families. It can be used as a quant 3 bedroom,3 bath retreat with pool. Or, the adjoining 2 bedroom apt. w/kitchen and bath can be enjoyed also for larger groups. The open-air Great Room allows the feeling of being with nature, as the locals prefer. Though very shy; Iguanas, Geckos, Howler Monkeys, Parrots and other birds of every kind occasionally entertain you while relaxing aroun...d the pool. Our caretaker, who lives on the property, is our 24/7 house manager, gardener, security and overall hospitality host. In regard to privacy, the back of the home opens up to a mountainous view and across the pool in the distance is the beach. We've planted various trees around the property; Palm, Jade, Lime and Mango to enhance the local flora of the area.

All of our bedrooms are fully enclosed and appointed with ceiling fans and air conditioning for your relaxing comfort, and offer the added feature of vaulted teak grooved ceilings and exposed beams. Some guests actually enjoy sleeping 'out' in the great room at night to enjoy the natural sounds of the evening. We have three futons that provide for such an experience. We call it camping 'inside'. No worries about pests, our caretaker periodically treats the grounds to alleviate any worries.

The private pool is perfect after a day at the beach. We have an outdoor shower, swim up Palapa Bar complete with a 'beverage' refrigerator and gas barbecue grill. The pool itself has a cool water Jacuzzi as well as a water Slide for the kids (or adults).

The kitchen is fully appointed with electric range and oven, microwave,blenders for exotic concoctions, dishwasher, frig.and a sound system to plug in ipods, iphones or of course local flavor salsa stations. NO T V! Music and board games are the additional entertainment of the house, though we do have WiFi.

During the right time of the year, you can pick Mangoes from our tree in the front, or limes from our tree by the outdoor shower.

This is the place to do absolutely nothing, or fill every day with local adventure. Our Caretaker is an avid fisherman and can take you 'handlining' for Snook or Snapper, or arrange for an offshore experience for Tuns or Dorado. Our neighbor Tad, runs an adventure co. that will take you on a sea kayak river float to the ocean, or give surf lessons on our local beach. We do have a stock of 'boogie boards' at the house for the less adventurous types or kids. There is a 'Canopy Tour' zip line about 10 minutes away and if horse back riding has your interest, they'll bring them right to the house. Anything and everything is available.Read more

Costa Rica has experienced its share of commercial growth and luxury resorts...but not here in Carrillo. our home is centrally located in this quaint fishing town. We are conveniently within walking distance to the two local tiendas (groceries) and 5 local restaurants. Carrillo Bay is one of the most desirable and safest beaches in Costa Rica by the native 'Ticos'. This 2 mile white sand bay is line with palm trees that provide plenty of shade. Many mornings if you walk the entire beach you will only see a hand full of people. What you won't see is any hotels, restaurants, yachts or peddlers. Except for paving the road, this beach has not changed nice we first visited in 1993. Truly remarkable.
We are less than a two hour car ride from the Liberia airport, and under a 4 hour car ride from the San Jose airport.
