Hillsborough, CAEpic!!
Left on 05/23/2013 for a stay in May 2013
This is what my family said of the vacation we recently enjoyed at Villa Catalina. Since my husband and I so thoroughly loved Costa Rica last february, we decided to have our annual family reunion there. Instead of renting 4 rooms at a hotel, we decided to rent a house and I'm so glad we did. Villa Catalina was "epic." Starting with the owner, Kai was so welcoming and full of good ideas and answers to all my questions. Special Places, the property management was completely professional and I can't say enough about the concierge aylen. She was like a fairy godmother granting every wish that I threw her way!! She had the refrigerator stocked with food, found a private chef and best of all, arranged for an english-speaking priest to officiate at the renewal of our marriage vows after 35 years!!( she even ordered the flowers) For this reason, Villa Catalina will always be in our hearts.
The house itself is absolutely breathtaking with the infinity pool overlooking the 4th golf hole of the Reserva Conchal Golf course. All the bedrooms were beautiful and private and housekeeping was included. When, not if, we return to Costa Rica, we will certainly try to return to Villa Catalina. Thank you to all who made our family reunion vacation-epic!!!

Redwood City, CaThe most exhilarating vacation!!!
Left on 05/31/2012 for a stay in May 2012
When we arrived at the Villa Catalina, we were so warmly welcomed and felt comfortable immediately!! The views were amazing, looking over the golf course, with the ocean in the distant, just stunning!!
We enjoyed playing golf on the Conchal Reserva Golf course, what wonderful, friendly people, the course was very challenging for us who don't practice as much as we should.
The many excursions we experienced were out of this world, I especially enjoyed the aTV ride to the Congo Trail zip lines!!! What an amazing country!!
The Villa Catalina has everything you can think of to offer you, The pool felt so refreshing at anytime of the day or night. Swimming/wading in the pool when the stars are out and the fireflies are in the air, wow!!! We saw so many amazing birds around the house, there are many sites to see when you venture out on a walk. We enjoyed the walk to the golf course, since we rented our clubs it was a light walk.
We enjoyed gourmet meals of local fresh fishs, meats and shellfish from the country. A local chef (Juan Manuel of letmecook4you) prepared some meals for us that were so delicious and beautifully presented!! What a dining experience! The kitchen is so large that he had no trouble preparing, better than high end restaurant quality dinners!!!
We also had recommendations for local restaurants, Angelicas, Papaya and Mar i Sol, they were also big hits with our group.
We had 3 other couples with us, the house had enough space that we were all so very comfortable!!!
I truely felt exhilarated when vacationing in Costa Rica in the Conchal Reserva home, Villa Catalina!!!

Long BeachLoved it!
Left on 09/29/2011 for a stay in June 2011
My family stayed at this home in June, 2011. It was incredible! The villa was bigger than I'd imagined, with large bedrooms and baths.
There were lots of places to be outside and enjoy the view--balconies and a big covered patio next to the pool--and all had overhead fans to keep a breeze blowing, which was nice. The whole place is surrounded by blooming plants that gives it an oasis feeling. It was
super clean and the maid was sweet and cheerful. We didn't see her that much, but the house was always spotless. I think that Conchal
beach is the prettiest along the coast, being one of the only ones with white sand. We went to Flamingo and Playa Grande, too, which
were fun for the day. Loved the Beach Club! Good food and a great gym. We'll be back--next time, hopefully, for two weeks! -

San MateoIdyllic vacation with family and friends
Left on 07/23/2010 for a stay in June 2010
We had a wonderful stay in Costa Rica and enjoyed this lovely spacious home with a pool and ready access to the beach and other adventures such as Zip lining, kayaking, Atving and river rafting. We were a group of three couples and 3 teenagers and the house had a great kitchen that entertained well. We discovered the local breakfast shack in Brazilito with 5 star Huevos Rancheros as well as the local fish monger (fresh caught Tuna and mahi mahi for $5/lb). It was great to have a pool to lounge in after an active day. We hope to return again soon!

Emerald Hills, CAWhat a place for Family and Teens to have fun!
Left on 07/12/2010 for a stay in June 2010
There were private bathrooms for everyone wall the comforts of a home as well as a clubhouse full of amenities. Ahhh, Playa Conchal, one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Costa Rica is a short drive away. And the clubhouse is right on the water. You don't see hotels or houses from the beach, and the club house helpers will bring your personal Ratan lounge chair out to the beach for you, in sun or shade, along with an exotic beverage. The water is warm and incredibly beautiful.
We were never at a loss for activities. We always had Special Places who was always available to plan our events and was available to show us around. We went Class III/IV white water rafting on the Tenorio river, complete with a 12' drop waterfall! The river is so idyllic and I'm sure Disney must have used it as inspiration for some of their best theme park rides. Later we enjoyed a sailing cruise, ATV riding, Kayaking, beach strolling, and eating at the neighboring areas of Brasalito, Flamingo, and Tamarindo. It was a nice blend of activities and a taste of native people and food. Zip lining at Congo Canopy was another highlight of our trip. Our girls tried zipping upside down! We were impressed with the safety consciousness of the guides. Wildlife abounds. Ants carrying huge leaves across paths, blue jean frogs, coati, monkeys, iguanas, snakes, and so much more.
