Conchal, Villa Catalina 4 b/r with private pool!
Playa Conchal, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Additional Location Information
Playa Conchal Costa Rica is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Unlike many Costa Rican beaches, Playa Conchal features powdery white sand which, upon closer investigation, is actually formed by millions of crushed shells.
The beach itself is not that long, but is a nice-sized stretch for strolling or running as you enjoy the peaceful sound of the calm waves hitting shore. On the north end of the beach, the shells become larger and you can really find some unique, intact, and colorful shells as souvenirs! The beach on this north end eventually gives way to warm tide pools amidst the rocks…the more adventuresome can actually climb out on the rocks or cross over them to access other more remote beaches such as Brasilito and Portrero.
The other outstanding feature of Playa Conchal is the calm water which is a radiant shade of blue. Perfect for swimming and snorkeling, the waters are excellent for families with children. Occasionally the waves will attract surfers; however, Conchal is not necessarily known for its great surf (travel to nearby Playa Tamarindo, Playa Langosta, or Playa Grande for much better waves).
Accommodations at Playa Conchal are somewhat limited. Most people visit Conchal for the day while staying at nearby Tamarindo Beach where hotels are plentiful for all budget ranges. However, if you want the convenience of staying right at Conchal, and are willing to treat yourself to a luxury experience, the 5-start Paradisus Playa Conchal all-inclusive resort and Reserva Conchal condominiums and beach club are a fabulous option and highly recommended. Now the Westin is managing the beautiful 5 stars hotel. There is also the famous , the Robert trent Jones II Garra de Leon golf course.
This 18-hole golf course, meticulously designed by the renowned Robert Trent Jones II, delivers sheer relaxation and spectacular fun for golfers of all levels. Whether it´s your first time golfing or even if you´ve been golfing for years, the course guarantees a fantastic play for everyone!
Surrounded by the luscious greens and the striking blues of the Pacific Ocean, the scenery of the course is enough to keep you entertained. Aside from the captivating surroundings, the 6,956 yards par 71 championship golf course is one of the best of the region. Since its inauguration in 1996, the course has provided golf aficionados with an extraordinary eco-golf experience. In fact, Audubon International (www.auduboninternational.org) has recognized our dedication, making this course the first one in Costa Rica to be certified by this prestigious eco award. This recognizes the respect and responsibility the Reserva Conchal Golf course shows for the environment.
The golf course itself consists of elevations from tee to green that are very unique. The forest that surrounds the greens is extravagant, and the tee shots are covered by sand traps and lakes. Notable players who have taken a swing here are Jasper Parnevick, David Leadbetter, Hale Irwin, etc. However, this should not make you feel intimidated!
Some great pointers to keep in mind are to check the yardage book before you tee off and play very conservatively. The par 4s are long and uphill, which means that you might lose one or two clubs distance due to the elevations and sea level. We also recommend practicing the sand traps before you start because we have 63 of them throughout. In hole #7 alone, we have 13 traps!
The number one tip that we can give, however, is to enjoy the views, the surrounding nature and have fun with your game! Take your time and soak in the forest and wildlife around you. Check our vacation packages or send an email to email@example.com

What Past Guests Are Saying
House was the best part of the vacation!
Upon arriving at Villa Catalina, we realized that the pictures online do not do it justice. The house and property in general were unbelievable! The pool was bigger than it appeared; all 8 of us fit could lounge in it with plenty of room. The rooms were very private, especially the master, since it is pseudo-detached from the rest of the house. Every room had a bathroom and shower, which was fantastic.
Oh and the maid service! At the end of the trip, we said we would never vacation anywhere again unless they had maid service. She was there 5 of our 7 days, and literally stayed all day cleaning, doing dishes, and doing laundry. It was so nice.
The beach is definitely not in walking distance from the house, but the free shuttle never took more than 15 minutes to arrive after we called for it. The shuttle itself takes about 8 minutes to get from the house to the beach. The driver would stop and point out monkeys in the trees and iguanas crossing the road during the trips.
Air conditioning was adequate, and it was actually nice that each room had its own temperature control. The only area of the house that was a little warm was the upstairs hallway, but the bedrooms themselves stayed nice and chilly.
Overall we loved our trip and the house. Absolutely we would return in the future.
