Playa del Carmen has evolved from being a sleepy fishing village that you had to go through to get to Cozumel, to being one of the Premier vacation destinations in the world. The fact is that this town is an amazing place to come for holidays. There is so much to see and do here in town and the surrounding area. Just a couple of hours away you can find picturesque Tulum, the ruins of Coba/ Chichen Itza, spectacular fresh water Cenotes, and many adventure parks, just to name a few. Right in town the main artery is 5th Avenue, where you can lose yourself in all the marvellous cafes, lounges, restaurants, shops, and boutiques.

Condo Reef in El Faro is located in downtown Playa del Carmen right off of 5th Avenue and only one block from Mamita's Beach. 5th Avenue is a one of a kind pedestrian promenade that offers boutique shopping, and fine dining, as well as traditional Mexican culture. It is the single most walked Avenue in Mexico. Playa has a small town feel, but it boasts all the amenities that a traveler could want. This combination is what makes Playa so unique.
Just on the outskirts of town you can visit the water park Xel Ha, or the theme park Xcaret. There is an abundance of Eco Touristic activities that you can experience including a jungle Zip Line or Kayaking in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. The area is perforated with natural Cenotes which offer a very unique diving experience. There is exceptional snorkeling & the diving just off of Cozumel, on the second largest barrier reef in the world. Not to mention the outstanding Sport Fishing. The wonders of the Mayan Culture are all around in the Ruins.

We stayed at coral 401 and picked this unit because of the pluge pool.On at least 4 different emails i requested that the plunge pool and defiencies be fixed prior to our arrival.
the reponse was that everything will be ready.
Nothing was ready nor were defiencies fixed.
unit did'nt even have a bread knife , no barbecue ?
Location fabulous, building pretty nice, pool nice.
i was dissapointed in the price we paid for what we got as we may as well have just stayed at the royal for what we got.
Not once did they clean the plunge pool in the 2 weeks we stayed. This was after we filled it ourselves.
While we were there the 4 of us got extremely sick for 4 days.We later found out that there was a bug in the condo hotel.
Would we stay again? yes but not in the same unit or for the same price we paid. -

There really isn't anything to complain about (other than a foul smell in the unit). This is about our tenth visit to Playa Del Carmen and previously we had stayed in all-inclusive resorts. We were timid about our first visit staying in a condo - and I can say this is the only way we will do it again. El Faro has the best location in town. It's right off of 5th avenue and literally steps from the most beautiful beach in town. You can walk out your door and be in the hustle of town. It is one block from the famous Blue Parrot and a number of other popular clubs. Although, it is a high traveled area - the location is quiet and constantly monitored by security to ensure your safety. The condo provides clean pool towels upon request and the chairs are quite comfortable. I will say, as with any resort, people begin saving their chairs at the pool or beach rather early - so, if you want a good spot, join the crowd. Wicky's is a nice place to grab a bite or a couple beverages and they are great about walking around the pool to give you service. The condo was well equipped, clean, and beautiful. Not to mention, it had a fabulous view (the best we've ever had). The staff at the front desk is helpful and always very polite. I couldn't recommend this place any higher! Go - enjoy!

Everything about El Faro exceeded our expectations. The location is fantastic, right 5th avenue, but on the beach. The pool and beach were beautiful and perfect for kids. the condo was very well equipped, quiet, comfortable and clean.
Highlights: There is nothing better than being able to stroll down the beach to a funky little bar, listen to some live music and have drink, watch a lightning storm over Cozumel. Waking up early and going for a swim in the ocean right outside your door. Exploring Cenotes. Snorkeling at akumal.
El Faro is a beautiful, laid-back, place in a beautiful part of the world. -

Second time here and Well all I can say is wow!!! I stayed here with my family and had the most amazing time. The condo is on the ground floor and I was a little worried about the safety issue but once we arrived all my fears disappeared. All the doors have double locks and the patio door locks worked great. The location could not have been more perfect as you could access the pool and beach right from your patio and 5th ave is about 20 steps away. The patio itself was very large and had an amazing view. The condo was well equiped in the kitchen and all the rooms were very spacious, More than enough for a family of 4. I loved the Kitchen set up, very easy to cook in. We got all our groceries from Walmart which was a very quick taxi ride away or about a 10 min walk. The complex is one of the nicest on that stretch of beach. The pool is very large and the sun shines on it all day. They do not heat the pool so it was very cold while we were there in Dec. but when we went in aug. it was so warm!! (Bath water temp) The pool beds and chairs are brand new and very comfortable. The restraunt Wickys has great food and nice beach chairs on the beach which are free to use. The beach in front of the resort is soo nice. There was some eroding happening but it did not take away from the beach and is through out Playa del Carmen. The ocean is very warm and we even snorkled right in front. It was a good beginning for my kids but if you are an avid snorkeler it might not be up to par. The waves were very big for a couple days while we were there and my kids found about 5 huge conch shells in the ocean, very cool!!! I let them pick 2 each to bring home, what an amazing keepsake. The staff at this resort are fantastic, they are always willing to help with anything. Also the grounds keeper work very hard and are so friendly. I booked this through Marisa Leos and she made it a very easy process!!! Thank you Marisa.
