Douglas, WyomingNice all inclusive resort on a beautiful beach!

Viva Maya has a lovely beach front location, with a friendly staff offering great service and clean rooms. We enjoy long beach walks, and you can walk to downtown Playa del Carmen on the beach. There are plenty of fun activites: trapeze, kayaking, paddle boarding & biking--all included. The member privileges that come with booking through My Resorts 4 You are a huge bonus. There is a separate check-in & concierge area, a quiet members building, new cushioned beach loungers and no limit on booking dinners at the a la carte resturants at either Viva Maya or Viva azteca. We tried a different restaurant each night of our stay. Our favorites were Viva Cafe & Portofino, but they were all superb. Overall, a great place to vacation.

The Viva Maya staff were all great - very friendly and helpful. Only one woman at the tours desk let us down. She said she had no idea how to line up a snorkel trip in Cozumel, but then I went over to the hotel info desk next to it and that woman told us we would see many snorkel operators once we got off the ferry. The food and variety was really good in the buffet. The reservation restaurants were great! We ate at Don Diego, Mayan one at Azteca, and Miramar. The resorts kept everything spotless.
Our kids are 10 and 7 and they had plenty to do.
We used the kayaks, boogie boards, circus trapeze, bikes, archery, kid's program, pottery painting - and everyone was very nice. We also visited Xcaret and enjoyed that too.
The rooms are pretty basic and could use some updating, but it served our needs fine. Suggested improvements would be thicker pillows and showers that drain better. Also, my son wanted to take a jacuzzi bath, but his plug wouldn't stay down and our tub didn't have a plug. I was impressed that even after we checked in at midnight, and found the rooms were not adjoining, the attendent quickly made a phone call and moved us to 2 other adjoining rooms down the hall (1st floor).
Overall we loved it and would definitely go back again.

ColoradoGreat week at Viva Maya
Left on 03/24/2010 for a stay in March 2010
My family had a great week at the Viva Maya - nice rooms, great service (had to call maintenance once - the problem was fixed in less than 10 minutes), nice selection of food. Went with another family as well - between us our kids range in age from 6 to 19. The only "issue" if you can call it that, was that the nicer restaurants told us that all males must wear pants to dinner. I think they were doing this because it was Spring Break and they didn't want people coming in wearing cut-offs and t-shirts with holes. We eventually were able have our sons go to dinner in their nice shorts and polos - but it took a bit of talking.

State College, PAGreat Value and Nice Property with Great Beach

Traveled to Viva Maya with my family last year and stayed in members building. Large spaceous rooms and good service. Pools and grounds very clean and well serviced. Food was average to good. Typical. Eat at the a la carte resturants for better quality and service. Buffets were good and ample choices, but no different than any other all inclusive. Beach was large, flat, clean and water was blue blue blue. Kids activities are plentyful and nightly entertainment was fun for the entire family. I would recommend this resort for families. Not a romantic getaway or honeymoon spot but a wonderful family vacation.

Toronto, CanadaA fun and easy family vacation
Left on 01/06/2010 for a stay in March 2009
This was our family's first big vacation. We hoped to stay in a place that was comfortable, spacious, and clean yet one in which our kids could run around and be kids. I read reviews stating that Viva Maya was an excellent choice for families with young kids. I totally agree.
While Viva Maya is certainly not the fanciest resort I have stayed in, it has everything a family needs to relax: decent food; a well supervised kids program; nightly shows (including activities for the kids); plentiful drinks; few partiers; a good size pool; many beach and pool chairs; comfortable rooms; and friendly staff. It is also close to the town of Playa del Carmen and a small shopping area which allowed some variety.
I recommend booking dinners in the specialty restaurants. We had two meals at the Mexican restaurant and one in each of the other two. This is not the resort I would choose if traveling alone, with my spouse, or with a friend, but it is certainly one I would recommend to families with young children. -

If you are looking for a wonderful, peaceful family type vacation this is the
resort for you. Not only is Playa Del Carmen itself a wonderful vacation
spot, this resort makes you want to return as soon as you get home!!! The
food is varied and delicious with various choices each night so that whatever
you are craving is available!!! There are plenty of children's activities to keep
your children occupied, if that is what you desire. The bars and the service
are plentiful and always willing to make what you are in the mood to drink.
The beach is beautiful and well kept - as is the entire resort. The rooms are
roomy and kept spotless. The adult pool is beautiful and a great place to
relax and enjoy the late afternoon sun.
A few steps out the back of the resort and you are on a beautiful street in
Playa Del Carmen with plenty of shopping within easy walking distance. It is
a beautiful area and a great place for after dinner walks.
We have traveled to many different spots both in Mexico and other countries
and have found that this resort is our favorite. With it's clean, bright,
accommodating atmosphere, great food, fun night life etc., it's definitely
our pick for our next trip.
