Cedar Rapids, IAExceeded our expectations!
Left on 02/06/2013 for a stay in January 2013
If you are ready to get out of the all-inclusive rut, I would highly recommend ElFaro condos. The condo was perfect and allowed us space, beautiful views, great beach, the ability to eat in the condo or go out to dine. Wicky's on site has wonderful food for lunches on the beach. We ate there one evening when it was raining and the food was very, very good. All the restaurants and shops are literally right outside the front door of ElFaro. The location cannot be beat. The staff at ElFaro was helpful and friendly and the daily maid service was an extra bonus in a condo. This vacation and facility gets an a+++!

Los AngelesAs Nice as the Pictures!
Left on 01/09/2013 for a stay in December 2013
My wife and I spent Christmas and the following week with another couple at this beautiful condo. Everything was first rate, and winter is a great time to be in Playa. The oceanfront location was fantastic, and everything in the condo very comfortable and first rate. The only issues we had were around trying to get our rooftop jacuzzi working, which unfortunately never happened. The front desk staff was not very helpful, and seemed a bit annoyed as we continued to work on the issue. Otherwise service was fine, both in cleaning our room, and while lounging on the beach.

Long Beach CAExceeded my expectations
Left on 12/22/2012 for a stay in December 2012
I travel often and in most cases I end up disappointed with my accommodations as the picture is usually nicer. In this case it was the opposite. The condo was in new condition, clean, fresh furniture. Bed was in new condition. The views were better than the photos , Great rooftop penthouse views and the balcony is huge! I enjoyed my stay. There was no noise at night. It was very quiet at Reef 403 as it sits between condos and not on a street. I did have to request to have the jacuzzi filled from the front desk, which they did the next day. My only disappointment was they didn't service it with chlorine so it was fairly dirty stale water after two uses and I didn't use it after that. I recommend the Fusion next door south of the condo for dinner on the beach it was beautiful. I do not travel to the same place twice but if I did I would stay there again.

Good experience at EL Faro reef 403. Location is the best, right at the beach and one block to the nicest part of 5TH avenue.
Upon arrival at EL Faro, very late evening, Sylvia the hostess at the front desk was very Helpfull, the extra bed we requested was already set.
There were no ammenities upon arrival such as soap ETC but they were placed the next morning. The Galon of water is a nice thing to have at the apartment and it was replaced upon request.
The telephone provided at the unit 403 was not working therefore we have to walk to the front desk Everytime we needed help with something.
The second day of our vacation we had no electricity and no running water for several hours due to major repairs at the hotel as we were told.
The best part of the vacation was coming back to our unit to the roof top terrace and watch the sunset at the Jacuzzi. However the Jacuzzi was Filty at the end, the maids Didnt clean the Jacuzzi, but they do wash the dishes, pots and pans if you leave them a tip.
Sylvia at the front desk was very helpful and always with a smile.
No WI FI at the unit, only at front desk.
Wickys restaurant is Excelent, good service and Excelent food right at the beach.
Again, location and the rooftop terrace made our vacation stand out the best. -

Left on 06/15/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We had a wonderful time at El Faro and Unit #403 Reef. The location just cannot be beat-- right in the middle of the action and yet, seemed quiet and peacefull at night. Our unit was lovely- well maintained and stocked pretty well with basic needs in the kitchen.
The daily cleaning service was great and was a really friendly young man.
The hot tub on top was not kept very hot and it was not cleaned and started to smell by the 3rd day so we were not able to use it anymore.
The front desk was helpful, but not overly friendly.
When we checked out, we had to wait around while they inspected the unit and then came back to us that one coffee mug had a broken handle- none of us drink coffee so not sure how that happened-- and made us pay $5 USD before we could check out... I felt she was a bit accusitory and rude about it and seemed a bit unprofessional to hae us sit and wait... We had a taxi waiting to take us to the airport so we were about to sit and argue of $5.
Overall the unit was fabulous but the front desk could use some customer service training.

We spent a week in april in this condo. For the most part it was a nice condo. Great location. Seemed to be well kept and clean. The cleaning service was wonderful. There were however a few issues. First there was supposed to be a washer and dryer. No. We were told to go down the street to another hotel were we could do our laundry for free. There was no working washer and dryer in the complex. There was to be a safe in the room. Nope. The third day they had a guy carry one up. Wireless internet and vonage phone service. Nope. There was a hot tube but were told if we wanted to use it to come to the front desk and they would send someone to fill and turn it on. If we wanted it hot we wouldn't have any hot water in the condo for awhile. We would have to do this each time we wanted to use it because the controls on the hot tub did not work. Plus because we had no phone we would have to walk all the way to the front desk which was quite a walk. Only one elevator was working. The pool is very nice. By the looks of the water it could have been treated more often though. The grounds were well kept. Other than that it was quite nice.
Response from Playa Beach Condo, LLC - 04/29/2011
Manager
I'm so sorry Don! This is a case of miscommunication. While a washer/dryer is on the docket for installation for public use at El Faro, this particular unit doesn't have one. However, as I told the guest - the maid will do your laundry for you until the public facility is installed. The wireless internet (and therefore vonage) specific to this condo required a technical repair and it is working. During the guests stay he had internet access by utilizing the network broadcast by Wicky's the beach club. The hot tub does work and the guest was given bad information. The walk to the front desk takes less than 5 minutes.

Epicurean chief, they cook awesome. They will come to the condo and cook your meal for you. It will definitely be the best meal you will have in Playa. You can contacted then at EpicureanChefServices.com.

I went to El Faro with my husband and 3 fiiends to celebrate our 40th Birthdays. We loved the place. Very modern and brand new. We would go back. I thought there was a cold plunge but it was a hot tub which we liked better on the roof. View of the ocean is wonderful from balcony on main floor and balcony bigger than expected. The restaurant onsite is amazing, Wicky's. We only had 3 things that went wrong the whole week. The floors are very slippery around the condos and when it rains you will slip if not very careful. My friends slipped 3 times. The internet was not working in the room but you could use it in the lobby and the a/c in the master bedroom broke halfway through the week so they are still getting things setup as this is a brand new place. I would go back anytime and absolutely love this place and Playa Del Carmen. We went to the new park Xplor which was so amazing and had so much fun. You can take a cab there so do not buy the transportation as it is way more expensive.

The condo, location, beach, Wicky's etc. were great but we found many basic necessities lacking. There was no working elevator the duration of our stay. In the condo there was no kleenex, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, dish towels... I have never stayed in any condo that was so poorly equipped.

Reef Bldg, Room 403 was a delightful 2 bedroom condo at the El Fero (The Lighthouse) Residences. Spacious rooms, very accommodating furniture/decor, plenty of amenities, supurb location, wonderful large swimming pool, and the rooftop patio with hot-tub was the best part. We stayed for 3 days, 2 nights with our two children, ages 4 and 5 - and couldn't have asked for anything more. We'll be back. Thank you.

Rented Penthouse Reef 403 over spring break and went with my wife, 16 year old daughter and 13 year old son. We have been all over Mexico with Cabo being our previous favorite but for our family PDC and the location of El Faro was perfect.
First the service working with Tonya @ Playa Beach Condo Rentals was exceptional. I tend to ask ALOT of questions and she answered every one of them in detail
El Faro in general....The location is perfect right in the middle of the main beach area. There are no big resorts right here pretty much all Condo's. El Faro for us was the best of both worlds. With a nice pool and Wicky's Beach Club right there it was almost like a full svc resort but you got to go back to a fabulous 2 bedroom 2 bath room and really relax instead of a cramped hotel room. El Faro appeared to us to be the highest end location. Many looked a little old and beat up but I am sure that is fine for many but my family is spoiled so I am told. The room was brand new and everything worked great. The rooftop is really cool and a great place to relax at the end of the day. My guess is Tanya will probably update with better pictures because the ones I had previously seen don't do the rooftop justice. The only downside is the resort rooms are maybe half done. It didn't really both us and there really wasn't any noise but with 2 teenagers it was a little slow but the beach scene made up for it.
Location.....As you have read this is truly about 1 1/2 blocks from Fifth Avenue which again with our family was perfect. We never had to plan out our meals unless we wanted to just walked up and down 5th, maybe the side streets and 10th and picked a place. During the day the beach has tons of places to eat and relax and some alot cheaper that Wicky's but the quality of Wicky's was top notch. It was a little surprise that those beach restaurants weren't as active at night as I would have thought. It looked like some close up because all the action is on 5th -

Syracuse, NYWhat a location!
Left on 03/17/2010 for a stay in February 2010
My family and I stayed at El Faro and chose 403 because of a rooftop area that was advertised as a plunge pool - we were so delighted to find out that it was actually a hot tub wtih many settings - never had one in Mexico before! Being right in town but on a gorgeous stretch of beach made our vacation perfect. Tonya with Playa Beach Condos was great to work with - took care of everything and was so nice and thoughtful through a series of reservation adjustments on our part.
The condo is beautiful and had everything we needed. The views from the balcony and rooftop are keeping us warm during the winter.
Loved the people and the food and drinks at Wicky's.

Tonya,
Thank you every so much for setting up accommodations for my stay in Playa
January 26-30th. My (by far) favorite place was Luna. We stayed one night at
El Faro 403. The unit was nice and the view was incredible. The one thing I
might suggest is that the living room is cramped and would be more
comfortable if the TV was wall mounted, thus eliminating the sideboard
beneath. This is just a personal suggestion and nothing more!
Thanks again for everything.
