Kai has found perhaps the most beautiful hilltop in all of Playa Grande to welcome visitors to Casa Linda Vista. The beautiful views, convenient location and friendly host all made for an amazing vacation for our family.
The views of the ocean from the upper deck, the sounds of the birds and monkeys, the welcoming accommodations and the gracious hosts all blended together for a perfect home away from home.
You won't regret booking with Kai at Casa Linda Vista. We're already planning our return! -

Casa Linda was the perfect place for our family. There are three different buildings on the property and being able to rent a configuration that worked for our group was fantastic. The Main House was big, bright, and beautiful with a spectacular ocean view. High up on the hill, it was the perfect place to watch the sunset and a fantastic place to escape the heat with the winds whistling through.
Internet connectivity was excellent! We always had lot of water, and never ran out of hot water for showers. The grounds were immaculate. The location was fantastic. We felt very safe. A car is absolutely necessary here and is worth having as it makes it perfect to get around to all the fantastic little restaruants scattered throughout the area.
Kai and Ruth were lovely hosts going out of their way to make us feel welcome. They were very generous with their knowledge of the area and with their fresh lemons right off the tree! Thankyou Kai and Ruth! R & B -

My first visit to Costa Rica will certainly not be my last. What a wonderfully exotic, hospitable place. Staying at Casa Linda Vista was a spectacularly insightful choice made by my world-travel-savvy 30 year old daughter, an inveterate rock climber..
Casa Linda's owners, Kai and Ruth, are caring, generous hosts whose devotion to making their guests' stay as relaxing and rejuvenating as possible is apparent from their rapid response to our initial email inquiry to a warm welcome at arrival. Their care and concern for their clients' enjoyment is exemplified by a comment Kai made to me while we were chatting as we walked around his garden's splendor: "The people who come to my place are here because they work very hard at home and want to relax, so I do not intrude on their privacy unless some service is requested". Kai is a real "mensch" (an incomparable Yiddish word (cf. Wikidedia)). I count few individuals that I have met in my 68+ years to be in that category.
I am a curious lover of nature, a landscaping enthusiast , photographer... after a career as a chemistry professor. Kai is a surfer (#1)... landscaper, plant-lover, naturalist, a fascinating thoughtful man. I spent many happy hours traversing Kai's Paradise surrounding his four rental units...much to his enjoyment and mine. I had numerous questions for him about the history of the place which he created from a jungle area in the late 1980s...and was astounded by some of the personal details he shared with me. If you care to take the time to get to know the exotic nature of the place, at least for someone from the northern USa, you will go home with a sense of amazement of the Earth's diversity.
As testimony to Casa Linda's attraction, I met two Canadian couples staying there during our visit. One was visiting for the the thirty-something-th time and the other for the third time. What better recommendation!
Muchas Gracias, Kai and Ruth.
The world could use more individuals like yourselves.

Calgary, AlbertaBeautiful, Peaceful and Private Compound
Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Kai and Ruth have done a marvelous job of building a beautiful, peaceful and private compound of 4 houses within well kept and landscaped grounds. In addition to being within walking distance of Playa Grande which is one of the best quiet and enjoyable beaches in Costa Rica, sitting outside the casitas and reading is equally enjoyable due to the beautiful and peaceful grounds. You can see the beautifyl sunset from the deck of the Casa. It is like being in a resort for a fraction of the price. The casitas are modest but functional. Our only complaint was not having adequate lighting for reading at night as it gets very dark very early and which Kai gracefully responded to by purchasing a reading lamp for me!

We really enjoyed our stay at Playa Grande and Casa Linda Vista and will recommend it to our friends. We met family there who rented the Casita and we stayed in the larger house. It's very nice and spacious, and offers a view of the ocean from the balcony. Everything you could want is close by and Kai is very helpful in referring guests to others to arrange side trips, surfing lessons, etc. It was fun seeing the monkeys in the trees. There is a wide variety of flora and fauna that was interesting to observe. We all hope to make it back to Casa Linda Vista!

Cass Linda Vista is a magical place. We stayed in Casa azul last week and loved our stay there. Imagine howler monkeys outside on the trees, birds chirping and the breeze of fresh air. We especially enjoyed the short walk to town and the beach! Kai was very sweet and was available to answer any questions about the area. Cass azul was equipped with comfortable beds, a kitchen and a full bathroom, wifi, and an outdoor shower for rinsing off from the beach. Would love to come back and spend more time in Playa Grande--and would definitely choose to stay at Casa Linda Vista again!

Another great stay at Casa Linda Vista this May (2012) sadly came to an end. After 10 days in the beautiful Playa Grande area surfing and enjoying nature, I am at home planning my next trip back to, Craig ( Kai ) and Ruth's, oasis next to the Pacific Ocean. I have been returning to Casa Linda Vista two to three times a year since 2002 after luckily finding this place. These trips have been with family, friends and solo. All 3 houses are clean and comfortable and can accommodate almost any need. The beach, surf break and the small village are within easy walking distance for meals, grocery store and surf needs .I already miss the evening sunsets, the hilltop breezes and listening to the monkeys and birds. I will be returning shortly for my traditional Christmas / New Years break.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Casa Linda Vista! The house was clean and well kept. The breeze was enough that I never desired a/c. The views and afternoon visits from the monkeys never failed to put a smile on my face. A great place to relax and enjoy Costa Rica while being just a short walk to the beach. Kai was very helpful in figuring out the area, and he was a great host. I would recommend this rental to anyone.

What a wonderful example of Pura Vida. Our first experience with a Vrbo, Casa Linda Vista was a great start! After flying into Liberia and driving about 90 minutes to the property, Kai met our family of 7 (with 5 children) upon check-in and pointed to this house on the hilltop. The house was wonderful and exemplifies easy living. Kai had arranged for cleaning of the house almost every other day of our weeklong stay. Though he lives on the compound, he leaves tenants to themselves, but was very gracious when we asked for recommendations to local restaurants and activities. With a local supermarket 10 km away, we ate all breakfasts and lunches at the house and went out locally for dinner. The house was a short 10 minute walk away from beautiful Playa Grande, where we oftentimes saw no more than 5-10 other people on the beach. Wi-Fi at the house allowed us to research and plan additional day trips. My favorite part of the house was the second floor balcony which was a comfortable place to relax, look over the canopy of trees, and experience the waves and noise of Playa Grande. Given the opportunity, we would surely return to Casa Linda Vista.

The proprietors, Kai & Ruth, are memorable people. They will help you in every way they can. We arrived about 2 hours early and Ruth was there to welcome us. We had an enjoyable stay on their 3 acre property. There is a small town just down the hill and the beach is a little further. We usually drove to the beach because of carrying cooler, towels... A great pizza place down the hill called El Huerto Mediterranean Restaurante. I loved the peaceful mornings when you heard the monkeys and birds outside your window. Internet service was adequate and available at anytime in our one bedroom abode. I would recommend a week plus stay at Casa Linda Vista. Thanks Kai & Ruth!

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 2.5 months in the Casita from January - April. We couldn't have found a better place to stay, The property is beautiful and so well taken care of with stunning landscaping throughout the whole property. Prior to coming to stay with Kai and Ruth, I didn't fully appreciate how much of a difference a well kept property makes to the comfort and enjoyment of ones stay.
Kai and Ruth are also great hosts and we started to feel more like family than guests and were very sad to leave. Super chilled, they never bother you but are on hand should you need anything.
The casita is fully equipped with the things you would need for your stay - a small kitchenette, fridge, all the pots and pans, coffee machine. We cooked no problems for our entire stay. There are also champagne glasses! Nice touch. The place is fully cleaned by a lady who comes in various times throughout the week.
Another good thing is the high speed internet.
It is set back from the beach and main area of Playa Grande, but is only a 10 minute walk to the main surf break. It is perfect for those who want to be close to "the action" but also far away enough to feel like you are on your own private holiday. There are some good places to eat close by aswell - (recommend to go to "Garden Grill" for amazing fresh tuna or El Huerto for Pizza - both on the road heading out of Playa Grande).
We didn't have a car with us and found we could get around fine by foot (good exercise!), however most people do seem to come with a hire car. -

My grown children and I rented the largest of the three homes on the property. The home was super clean and lovely, true to the terra cotta tile, reddish open beam ceiling, hardwood floor style of many of the beautiful rentals in Costa Rica. The grounds of the Casa and Casitas were landscaped with the gorgeous trees and plants indiginous to the area. Our host was very helpful with everything from day to day necessities to driving instructions. All this and our house was a two block walk through the trees to a faboulous beach.

We loved the location, house, and everything about it. Kai was great with tips, surf boards we could rent. Woke to beautiful bird sounds, monkeys, beautiful foliage outside the windows. A 5-10 min. walk to the beach which was beautiful, empty, lovely. Can walk down the road tto the local restaurant to eat watch tv and hang out with the locals but the kitchen was adequate and we cooked a lot.
Stay again and recommend to anyone going to Costa Rica if they want a quiet place to stay

My husband and I spent the first four nights of our nine day vacation in the Casa azul. We were originally scheduled to stay in the Casita Linda vista but Craig was kind enough to bump us up (at no charge) to the Casa azul. The grounds were a beautiful natural enviornment nestled up on a hilltop. We woke up early mornings to howler monkeys jumping tree to tree above our home and throughout the property. It was a beautiful sight! We were also fortunate enough to see several large reptiles/iguanas during our stay. Although we chose to drive our rental SUV to the National Park and beach, we were within walking distance. Craig also had surf boards available for rent on the property. The beaches in Playa Grande were stunning to say the least. And due to the time (October 29th-November 2nd, 2010) we choose to stay in Playa Grande, the beaches were empty. We would literally spend 8 to 9 hours on the beach and see one or two other couples. Thats all! We had the beaches nearly all to ourselves (which was great because we came to this location to get married and have our honeymoon). We found that the Casa azul provided us with every desire we had! The home was very neat and clean, well constructed, a full kitchen, nice bathrooms, we had plenty of privacy, the living room area was spacious, and with the breeze blowing through the windows there was no need for any air conditioning! I would say renting a car/SUV is a must in order to get to the property. When making the reservations we found Helen to be extemely helpful and informative with prompt replies to questions. Once we arrove in Costa Rica we spoke with Criag's daughter on the phone who was also very helpful. During our stay we met with Craig on several occasions. I will say that all our interactions with Craig and his family we honestly felt like we were dealing with friends. Just so kind and helpful. We would (and have) recommended the Pyle family and their rental homes to everyone!

Our stay at Casa Linda Vista was superb, a great memory for the rest of me and my friends life. The house is located on a hill with monkeys in the threes ans beutifull sunsets every night. The beach is just a few minutes walk away and its great for surf or just hanging out.
The owner Kai and his wife ruth really looks after you and helps you out if its questions about surf or just some info about Costa Rica. Its really a family wibe at Casa Linda Vista, and we spent over 2.5 months here just becouse the great service and the sweet location. This is the best place to have your holiday if you are going to Costa Rica. The atmosphere is so friendly and the service and houses are perfect. I am definitely going back! -

Left on 05/01/2011 for a stay in August 2010
We stayed in this rental for the last part of our honeymoon, and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. Loved it all around. Truly amazing property and Kai was extremely nice. He even upgraded where we stayed at no extra cost. The property is very well manicured and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. It is a short walk from the beach and the only drawback was the mosquitos (a problem of the season, not the property). Playa Grande is a great little place that has yet to be "discovered" like its neighbor Tamarindo. Buy groceries before you get into town as the little shops there are quite expensive. Great for a laid-back tropical stay. Good surfing in the area too.

Left on 03/20/2011 for a stay in February 2011
We just returned after a month in Costa Rica, staying in 4 different locations, and our week at Casa Linda Vista was by far the best experience. This secluded property, located centrally in Playa Grande, offered us a very special experience, with a stunningly designed 2-story house, on top of a hill, with a wonderful view over the tree-tops, exposure to the refreshing breezes, and on a meticulously landscaped property. The interior layout included large rooms, with tall ceilings, screened windows everywhere and a sense you were surrounded by the wildlife that abounded. With 2 young children and my elderly mother along as well, my wife and I enjoyed the ability to spread out in and around the house and to wander back and forth to the beach or down to the village centre as we pleased. The description of the property and photos provided were very accurate and house included all the creature comforts required, with the added bonus of a blender for fresh fruit smoothies! The beach itself had something to offer all of us, with its uniquely underdeveloped backdrop, chances to fish and explore the tidepools, wander up and down the uncrowded expanse and great surf for all skill levels! Kai and Ruth were the consummate hosts, very sensitive to our needs and helpful with questions and assistance through our stay. Although we didn't go inside the other 2 rental houses on the property, they also appeared attractively designed and well cared for, and separated enough from each other on the large property to provide privacy between guests. Given that Playa Grande is a very special place, in a very special country, Linda Vista is a unique and special place to stay, and we hope to return as soon as we can break away again!

This property is a paradise nestled in Playa Grande, Costa Rica.
I have always had a great time staying at the different accommodations on the property.
Kai and his family of Ruth and Francie run a very clean and private getaway from the hustle of our modern world
I enjoy coming back to recharge and also enjoy the ocean, wether it be surfing at high tide or the many ventures along the beaches located in front of and near the property.
I have travelled to Casa and Casitas Linda Vista with family, friends and solo. This is definitely a hidden gem on the Pacific Ocean. -

We stayed in the big house, Casa Linda Vista, and truly loved it! It had all the amenities we needed. It was very comfortable and clean. The house and property is beautiful and the proximity to the beach and the town was close, but not to close which we liked.
I would highly recommend any one of the 3 different houses that are offered at Casa Linda Vista.
We are already planning to return again next year.

Left on 04/08/2010 for a stay in February 2010
Take it from someone who´s been all around Costa Rica several times that this is the best and friendliest place to stay in all of Costa Rica.
I have not come across a place as clean and well-equipped as Casa Linda Vista. The owners Craig & Ruth pyle are super nice. They live on the premisis aswell and are always there for you whenever you need something.
It´s calm and relaxingly located on a small hilltop with beautiful surroundings, lots of monkeys and a short walk from the beach (wich we took every day to go surfing), surfshops and restaurants.
Playa Grande in general is pretty and quiet with nice small restaurants to go and have dinner. It is close to Tamarindo where there are plenty of shops, bars and nightclubs to go around and with a car you can do daytrips to go see the whaterfalls and volcano craters in national park Rincon De La Vieja.
I would say that Playa Grande and Casa Linda Vista is the place for anyone considering a holiday in Costa Rica. The atmosphere is so friendly and it´s really a true pleasure staying here.

My family and I were fortunate enough to find this property on the internet, when looking for a place to stay in Tamarindo / Playa Grande. What a wonderful find! The property consists of 3 separate accommodations, of varying size. They are in pristine condition, and offer all the amenities you could wish for. It is situated only a few minute's walk from the ocean, and within a very short distance of the local establishments. If you wish for more nightlife and / or shopping, you are only 15 minutes from Tamarindo. The owners, Kai and Ruth Pyle, are awesome. Their hospitality is unsurpassed, and their friendship well worth having. I would highly recommend Casa Linda Vista (or either of the other 2 accomodations on this property). You simply cannot go wrong. I consider my recent trip to Costa Rica one of the best I've ever taken, due in large part, to the place we stayed. I would return without hesitation.
