This vacation was...the operative word...Perfect! From the moment we arrived our stay was a mixture of adventure and relaxation. The home is gorgeous with views that a camera cannot capture. The attention to details is evident through the owners' taste in decorating and information in the brochure. Gus, the local property manager, is available 24/7 to meet your every need. There were 5 of us with our own rooms and private full baths. The main home is very large..space for everyone to have their own space or space to gather together for food and fun. The pool is perfect for synchronized swimming, if one were inclined. The home is very private but centrally located...close enough to the airport, the beach, waterfalls, shopping, restaurants and Tico Tours, the best tour company in Costa Rica! I especially enjoyed not having to worry about a thing, except what to eat! And speaking of that...we had personal chef, Roscia and her daughter Rebecca prepare the most fabulous authentic Costa Rican dinner at the home. I was also fortunate to enjoy another excellent meal on my birthday at abbacato, prepared by former Four Season chefs! Our stay couldn't have been better! Thank you Conrad and Pat!

Visiting Costa Rica was on my "bucket list" but I never expected it to be as awesome as it was. The accommodations were spectacular. It was a hard place to leave to see the sights and have other experiences. The house had all that you could possibly want and more. It is laid out so that every room has a view either of the ocean or the beautiful green space. It was clean and well maintained throughout. It showed that the owners care about our comfort. We went with the owner's recommendations for tours and found Bernal and Tico tours to be exceptional. Bernal knows the history and all the information about Costa Rica that you could possibly want and you know that he wants the tour to be successful and the tourist happy. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives and already have done so. I also found the people of Costa Rica to be friendly and helpful.

Easy and relaxed from the moment we arrived at the airport. Picked up our car and a short direct ride to the house.
Gus our concierge was waiting for us and got us tucked in. Breathtaking view.
Bernal our travel guide came at our convenience and offered us options for day trips ...no pressure and extremely professional. Traveled with us on our trips to different sites. A superb guide (really bright and personable) giving us a lot of insight into the country and culture.Went out of his was to accommodate our schedule.
Lots to do/see.Snorkeling,sailing, jungle boat cruise, surfing about an hour away..board rental about $10 for the day. Don't miss the zipline horseback riding experience from Bernal at Tico Tours. My wife is deathly afraid of heights (we walked out of a World Series game because the seats were too high) and she did it...initially with one of the guys tethered to her but then on her own...10 separate zip line...double cables for safety.
Took 2 days to just sit at the house play games and relax.
House was awesome.Palatial feel. Big view of the ocean. Big comfortable family room. Fabulous pool. Floated, swam.played water volleyball. Big rooms. Great fully equipped kitchen.
Have Rosio come to cook dinner for you at the house...about $25 per person...very good.
We do a family vacation yearly even now that my kids are in their 20's.
To quote my 23 year old..."This was the best vacation I've ever had" -

Without a doubt, from the moment I saw the picture of Casa Del Viento on Homeaway, I knew that I had found the place. Making the arrangements to stay there could not have been easier and the owner was always available to answer any questions and provide information about the home. When we arrived at the gated community, the first adventure is the incline of the hill leading to the house. No problem by car but you begin to realize that you truly have a house that it is on a cliff. The area is stunning. The house was divine. Comfortable for a crowd. Plenty of ammenities to make the stay enjoyable and stress free. The view is almost beyond words. Looking out every day over the ocean was pure joy. Views differed depending on the perspective or time of day. Part Italy, part Carribean, part Los angeles at night. Fantastical looking birds would fly by and land in the trees or on the fence and we were visited by a lone howler monkey one evening as well. The place is so wonderful on its own, you almost don't have to leave it but leave it you should. Use Bernal from Tico Tours. He came to the house and from start to finish, he is informative, funny, well-mannered and he made sure that we would have a first rate experience. We did the boat ride down the river and we were able to witness so much wild life, we even spotted howler monkeys, scarlet macaws, and an anteater just on the ride to the river. Bernal also goes off the beaten path and showed us how some of the young men labor, digging sand from the river bed. It was an honor to see that and educational for my children. In addition to the tours, we also had Rocio's Kitchen come and cook for us. She was absolutely delightful and the food was wonderful. I would also highly recommend taking the one hour drive south to Tamarindo. Beautiful beach, lovely places to dine overlooking the ocean and plenty of interesting shops. Great place to learn how to surf. The vacation was magical. Truly.

Long Island, NYThe Gift: Casa del Viento
Left on 07/16/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We have just returned from an 8 day stay at Casa del Viento, "house of wind," an incredibly well designed, maintained, and appointed house on the Pacific Northwest coast of Costa Rica. It's truly a place you can escape to. Casa del Viento is a "slice of heaven" built into the hillside of a picturesque, gated community called Monte Paraiso near the local beach town of Playa Hermosa. Casa del Viento is a grand home even within its gated community. We arrived late at night in the rain, and were welcomed by friendly security staff. We were a group of 11 including kids and my 94 year old father-in-law. We were so comfortable at Casa del Viento, it was difficult to go away on our excursions to raft, zip line, see volcanoes, hot springs, beaches, and so on. The maid service kept the house very clean and did our laundry. Gus, the concierge, was always available to answer all our questions!
We all enjoyed the pool and Spanish-style veranda overlooking the bay and enjoyed watching sunrises and sunsets. We watched in fascination the mist of the clouds early in the morning hanging over the lushly vegetated hillside dissipate in the morning sunlight. We also enjoyed sitting by the lit pool at night under a starry sky with the lights of a town twinkling in the distance. There is a natural tranquility at Casa del Viento that restores the soul. In and around the pool garden we enjoyed the resident iguana, singing frogs, geckos, birds, humming birds, and butterflies. The gardens and balconies of the house added to the ambience of escape into luxury.
We ate family style at the house, buying and cooking local produce and meats bought nearby. The kitchen is fully equipped and was a pleasure to use. Wonderful memories were made at Casa del Viento, a priceless gift to us. Such incredibly nice accommodations shaped our whole experience in Costa Rica in such a positive way it will be a part of our lasting memories. Incidentally, the only winds we experienced there were soothing breezes. -

The villas was great! Very clean and comfortable. The pool was a welcome retreat from the afternoon heat. Gus at Beachfront made our trip perfect. His knowledge and care as our concierge were key to our stay. Our travels around the area, day trips, snorkeling, hiking, shopping, restaurants, beaches were made easy and enjoyable with his direction. We loved Hermosa and Coco, the people, the food and the monkeys. Thanks for a trip to remember

Left on 03/23/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Ok I definetely did not expect the villa to be like that, it was more like a mansion. Went there with 4 other friends and we all had our own bedrooms and bathrooms. The villa is very clean, and the management company (Guss Mora) was very helpful and professional. Roccio \'s is a must to have, that lady knows how to cook. Ask Guss about Leslie Sanchez and Henry Santafe as guides, they were outstanding. enjoy the pool, the terrace, the safety and the friendliness of Costa Rican people they are very warm and welcoming. Thanks Konrad for not dissapointing me. Hope that helps!!!

Our exteneded family (6 adults & 5 children) had an unforgettable vacation in Costa Rica at Casa Del Viento. The house was great... spacious, clean, comfortable, well maintained and family friendly. It would be hard to beat the views from this house...they were magnificent! We were close to some great beaches and the kids loved the pool. The maid service kept the house clean- which was so nice to come home to after a full day of activities. The property manager, Guss, took very good care of us. On his recommendation we used Tico Tours of Guanacaste and we went on some amazing adventures...zip lining, sailing, river cruises etc.. He also told us about Rocio, who made us 2 delicious, authentic Costa Rica dinners at the house. It was a great vacation...thank you so much!

Brooklyn, NYBest Honeymoon Ever!
Left on 12/29/2010 for a stay in October 2010
My wife and I could not have had a more beautiful and romantic honeymoon. We arrived the 1st week of Oct and were told to expect the worst of the rainy season that was on going in Costa Rica at the time. We arrived to a bit of drizzle and all of a sudden the clouds parted to a reveal a weeks worth of beautiful, sunny weather. We actually flew in to San Jose and decided to bunk a 1 night stay by the volcano, which was nice since it's almost 1/2 in btw San Jose (2.5 of 5 hours) and La Playa Hermosa. We spent the nice at prob the most gorgeous room I ever stayed and paid an amazing $80/night through hotels.com at the beautiful Mountain Paradise Hotel. We spent the next day at the Verde Spa Resort and relaxed at many of the different luxurious pools. We finally got to La Playa Hermosa and could not have been more thrilled. The place was everything we could ask for and more. We used the infinity pool every night. The scenery was absolutely stunning. Waking up to a view of Nicaragua and the Pacific Ocean was like something out of a dream. We utilized the many shops nearby and took advantage of the 10 min ride to the beach. The kitchen was taken full advantage of and it was nice to have our own cooked meals instead of going out every night. The location was lovely too: We took the hour trip out to Rincon de Viejo and did the horseback ride/zipline combo. We also took the opportunity to go scuba diving, which was great bc the site was 10 min away from Hermosa. All in a week. I also could not write this review without praising the wonderful Gus who took such great pleasure in welcoming us there filling out heads with numerous trip ideas and making us feel like we were 5,000 miles away from home. My only regret was that we could not stay longer. Just a wonderful trip and we could not have done it without La Playa Hermosa.

I could not have imagined a more perfect place for our honeymoon! The views were spectacular from every angle! I woke up early every morning just to sit around and take it all in. The kitchen was so fantastic that we cooked nearly all of our own meals and chose a different space to eat dinner in each night. Gus and the beachfront staff were super accommodating and extremely helpful. Many different things to do in the area, hiking, beaches, canopy tours and a whole lot more! It was an amazing trip!

My family had a wonderful vacation in sunny Costa Rica. The villa was perfect...comfortable, inviting guest rooms...a kitchen that fit all 10 of us at times...a beautiful pool just steps outside the door...and a wonderful view of the ocean.
Gus was very helpful and provided us with everything that we asked for. Our maid kept the place spotless, not an easy job with 8 adults and 2 kids running around :)

Left on 03/17/2010 for a stay in February 2010
What a nice home. Bed was so comfortable. Bathrooms were great. the rooms were spacious. But what I really loved were the morning sunrises and the evening sunsets every day. Be it from the living room, the kitchen or the two upstairs bedrooms the views are what you dream about when leafing thought the travel magazines when you're back home. I saw parrots. I heard monkeys howling in the morning.
It was easy to drive everywhere from the house. the local beach was excellent and swimming in the ocean (which I haven't done since I was a kid back east, was just a hoot. The local fruits and veggies were awesome (try those Costa Rican pineapples--a little tip, Costco carries them now). we grilled teriyaki chicken with fresh pineapple. just awesome. Bring your camera. Lastly, the price he asked was very reasonable. We're going back as soon as we got some time and he has a vacancy.
