Ojai, CAHome away from home
Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in March 2013
I rented Jay's Playa Hermosa house for a week while I was doing some volunteer work in Liberia because I wanted a comfortable house where my family could play while I was in town everyday. I was looking for a house with a pool that was within walking distance to the beach and with a beautiful view of the pacific. This house completely exceeded my expectations.
It is definitely a beautiful house with a beautiful view of the ocean. But it also has other amenities. Jay, the owner of the house, was full of excellent advice that was much appreciated prior to our visit. Gus, the management agent, was quite friendly and helpful with just about any information we needed on the area. We could call him at anytime if we needed anything. Also, Cathy, the housekeeper, was great.
The house itself had everything that a vacation house should have. If you rent this house you should congratulate yourself on making an excellent decision. We will definitely be renting this place again. -

I planned a 40th Birthday trip for my husband to Costa Rica and we stayed in Cloud 9 for a week in December 2012. We had a phenomenal time. Cloud 9 is a beautiful home with every amenity you could want and need in a home away from home. The location was spectacular and the views are just gorgeous. Its spacious with a great flow and open layout for families to be together or to have privacy. We went with my husbands parents and it was wonderful having a bedroom suite on the ground floor for them.
The beaches are a short distance away where we enjoyed snorkeling, and fishing. We caught fish and brought it home one day to cook dinner with the rice and beans in the stove top ready that our maid Katherine prepared for us when we got home. Another night on my husbands Birthday we took the fresh catch to a restaurant on the beach and they cooked us an amazing feast with our snapper and albacore tuna.
We all enjoyed zipping through the jungle and seeing monkeys by outside and the aTV excursion through the jungle was total thrill, even for the grandparents!
We cannot wait to go back and most certainly we will be staying in Cloud 9 because it was perfect for our every need. The people of Costa Rica are very gracious and warm and being in a different country with a different language was effortless.
Hasta Luego Cloud 9, see you next year!

BostonBest Thanksgiving Ever
Left on 12/02/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We went for the thanksgiving school break and had an amazing time. We zip lined thru the jungle, went surfing, did a jungle boat tour seeing all kinds of wildlife, also got to horse back ride thru the jungle and on the beach, and got to do some great fishing. We packed this all in a five day stay. The house was clean and had all we needed with a pool that looks out over the Pacific where we got to see some amazing sunsets while kicking back in the hot tub. Being able to experience all these activities as a family and creating memories that will last a life time. Our only problem is we did'nt stay long enough. Oh well, we will have to just go back. If your looking for a place where you can kick back and relax or go out and find adventure this is the place. The people are nice the local food is great, the views spectacular. Oh almost forgot its affordable.

We are definitely coming back here!
Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We rented this vacation rental for a week's stay in Guanacaste, Costa Rica... It is less than 10 minutes from Playa Hermosa beach notorious for dark brown soft sands. The owner was very accommodating to our needs and was available by phone for any questions we had. We had a large reunion party that made his home away from our home in the us - a base for all of our activities during the week! (We also booked another property to accommodate the remainder of our party, which was within walking distance)
As stated this was a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom property, with the additional secluded mother-in-law apartment attached to the home fully equipped with another kitchen. Everything was immaculate and we were met by the property management folks (english speaking) that gave us a tour before we began utilizing the premises to the fullest. The driveway parking allowed for 4 vehicles very easily! The driveway is a little bit steep, but once you have some practice very easy to maneuver! The restroom facilities were very clean, and towels and soap were provided. The showers are modernly tiled, and in the master bedroom upstairs has a separate large tub. All beds had the softest cotton sheets and comforters, and was very homely. In the kitchen contains a microwave, toaster, large fridge, juicer, blender, glass top stove on an island, granite counter tops, sink and dishwasher. Outside near the pool had a lot of furniture to lounge and relax. There are flat screen tvs in all of the rooms. While there wasn't a TV in the main living room, we simply moved the one from the second bedroom downstairs (pull out sofa - very comfortable to sleep on). There is a second master bedroom located downstairs which came in really handy. And there is an outside shower to wash off from the pool. While the pictures on Tripadvisor gives you a good idea, if you are able to get to the vacation rental website, there is a video that provides a lot more insight and really gave us a feel for how the rental would be.
Spectacularly awesome views looking directly to the Pacific Ocean, and a part time maid that helped us cook, clean daily, and laundry! Safety wasn't a worry, as this home is located in a gated community. The pool was perfect for volleyball and jacuzzi was awesome for relaxing sore muscles after many days full of activity and excursions.
As an added bonus, while we did a lot of research on Tripadvisor for fresh fruit markets, and adventurous excursions, the property management folks knew and put us into direct contact with excursion trips that were very reasonably priced for our party of 15 during the week! (not limited to: boat trips, snorkeling, ziplining, horseback riding, and even a chiropractor/massuese team - which we called back on several occasions!)
There are quite a few restaurants nearby as well that have great ratings via Tripadvisor. Ginger is less than two minutes away. There is a Supermarket just five minutes away to get the basic essentials as well. The directions to get to this location were fairly straightforward, though if you pass the Ginger restaurant you've gone too far!
This was the first time we did a vacation rental, and it definitely won't be our last! -

ChicagoAmazing house with incredible views.
Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We just finished up a week vacation and this house is amazing. The check-in was effortless. The home is located in the Palo alto gated community. You can see the home perched up on a hill as you take the winding road up to the drive way. Entering the home you get the first glimpse of the amazing view. The pictures do not do justice. The home's open concept with a living room area, dining table and kitchen with breakfast bar allowed everyone to spread out and have their own space. A wall of sliding doors overlooks the pool/jacuzzi and unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean. We enjoyed the amazing sunset each evening. Outside is a seating area, 4 loungers, and patio table. An outdoor shower allowed us to rinse off the chlorine after pool time. There is even a TV room in case anyone wanted to catch up on TV (satellite). We utilized the concierge service several times to help us arrange transportation and tours since we choose not to rent a car. The house is located only 30 minutes from the Liberia airport so it is very accessible. We choose to cook a lot of meals at the house but did venture to Ginger's right outside the community (4 min walk) for some delicious asian tapas. The Hermosa beach is about a 10 min walk and there is several restaurants in the area to walk to. A supermarket is within walking distance (10 min) and you can pick up everything you need. The laundry facilities allowed us to wash clothes during the trip so don't pack a lot. This home is perfect for a group of friends or family vacation. Katherine, who maintains the house, is extremely friendly and kept the house spic and span. We bought chicken, rice and beans and Katherine made us an amazing lunch. There are a lot of modern amenities that you get (dishwasher, full size fridge, washer/dryer, cook top) that makes the stay even that much more enjoyable.

We vacationed with two other families in this beautiful location. There was enough space for all of us to enjoy the amenities. We spent a lot of time outside at the pool. The view was specatular. The housekeeper was an added bonus! She assisted with laundry, light housekeeping and teaching us a few secrets to perfect guacamole.
We will definitely return this villa.

We had such a wonderful time in Costa Rica. Jay was so helpful in setting up everything for us at the house and answering the million questions I had about traveling there with a toddler. The house was gorgeous and extremely well-maintained, and Kathy (the housekeeper) came every day and took care of everything for us. All of our laundry was done, dishes were cleaned and the whole house was kept immaculate. She cooked for us and took care of any requests that we had. The pool was lovely and well-maintained also, and there was a pack and play, a highchair, car seat, toys, and many other things for our toddler. It was a short drive down the hill to the beach and a 10 minute drive to a town that had a large grocery store and plenty of restaurants. All in all, it was an incredible experience and I highly recommend this house for any family to stay in, especially one with young children.

The view is spectacular and the home offers the perfect feeling of seclusion and yet is located close to all amenities. We had a most perfect vacation. There was plenty of room for three families with a total of 7 kids. The housekeeper/babysitter Catherine was fabulous and managed the home unobtrusively and helped everything go smoothly. There was plenty to do that kept everyone in our party happy (from age 1-41). I would absolutely go back again.

the place was immaculate and exactly as represented via the Web. the maid, Katherine, was entirely sweet, unobtrusive and completely appreciated. the filtered water was drinkable, the bathrooms well-appointed, and the pool a perfect temperature. the only drawback we found was in regards to the separate apartment. the aC unit (we believe that's what it was) for the whole house was located just below it and could be heard continuously throughout the night. a white noise machine would be an easy fix.

we had a lovely time. Everything was perfect. The house was beautiful, spacious, well appointed and nicely kept by a lovely housekeeper named Katherine. The pool was great; the beaches were great and close by. There are numerous very hip reasonably priced retaurants close by, as is coco playa for more fun.
We even had a pig roast one night!
on the downside, I did notice one cloud in the sky one morning.
Good luck to all. The stay is highly recommended. -

Wonderful house located approx 20 mins from Liberia airport and 3/4 mile from Playa Hermosa beach. Amazing views from the pool and hot tub out to the sea for fantastic sunsets. The house was very comfortable and Catherine, the maid, was wonderful preparing meals for the kids, cleaning up, doing laundry and even babysitting on a couple of occasions.
Nightlife was just right, lovely bars and restaurants in Playa Hermosa, and more adventurous destinations in Playa Coca 10 miles south.
Would recommend a car, although perhaps not completely necessary as tours can pick you up from the house and there is a small supermarket within walking distance.
