Casa Juliana is a privately owned villa located on a hillside in beautiful Playa Junquillal (pronounced hoon-key-yal), a secluded and tranquil little village located in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. Golf, tennis, fishing, swimming, and surfing, tranquil, secluded beaches and incredible wildlife ensure a fantastic vacation with something for everyone in Playa Junquillal.

Playa Junquillal is conveniently located 36 km-40 minutes from Tamarindo if you are seeking a little nigh...t life and only 15 km-20 minutes from Hacienda Pinalla Golf Course (an 18 hole championship course-7,296 yard design set on the Gold Coast of Costa Rica) if golf is your game. You are also steps away from practicing that backhand on the tennis court located at the Guacamaya lodge (small court fee).

The village of Junquillal remains unspoiled and remote, a haven for those looking to spend their precious leisure time on the road less traveled. The village is home to only about 100 residents. Local Costa Ricans (Ticos) as well as international ex-patriots welcome travelers with a warm hospitality seldom experienced in the whirlwind of the real world. Yet, Playa Junquillal is conveniently located 36 km-40 minutes from Tamarindo if you are seeking a little night life and a lot of action!

Taste the local cuisine at one of the several restaurants within walking distance of the villa or create your own gourmet experience at home. Soak in the ocean and mountain views from the hammock on the second floor terrace. Entertain or enjoy "un refresco" (cold drink) at the beautiful stone and wooden bar on the first floor patio. Listen to howler monkeys in the trees or watch iguanas laze in the sun. Stroll 300 meters to the pristine beaches. This and more awaits your arrival to paradise.

Casa Juliana is a private villa that sleeps 8-10 people and is located on an acre of lush, tropical gardens overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The four bedrooms are spacious and airy. Equipped with 3½ bathrooms, the villa can easily accommodate two families. From the second floor terrace to the stone gas barbeque grill, the house is architecturally beautiful, crafted from local stone and mangrove trees.

Master suite: Located on the second floor, this loft-style bedroom has a king-sized bed with panoramic vistas of the ocean, a full bathroom with a shower, a large sitting area with a sofa that converts to a double futon (perfect for families with small children) and a private terrace with ocean and mountain views, complete with hammock and comfortable porch furniture.

Bedroom 2: Located on the first floor, this completely private bedroom with a queen bed has a separate entrance and a full bathroom with shower.

Bedrooms 3 and 4: Also located on the first floor, these two bedrooms are joined by a large, full bathroom with shower. Each bedroom has two twin beds and grand windows looking out onto the gardens.

Kitchen/dining room: Kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils tableware for 8-10 people. Dining area has a breakfast bar with 4 stools. A powder room is located off of the dining area on first floor.

Terrace: The large covered, stone patio has a magnificent bar for informal breakfasts and lunches or for a rejuvenating cocktail at the end of the day. In the center is a large wooden/stone table that accommodate 8-10 diners. A unique, round, stone barbeque grill with wooden stools for visitors to sit and oversee the chef is located in the gardens just off of the patio.

Pool: A beautiful 30 square meter swimming pool stretching to the ocean and convenient outdoor shower are located directly off first floor terrace.

Rental rates are based on an occupancy of 8 people or less. A $25/night surcharge will be applied for each additional person over 3 years of age. Maximum occupancy is 10 people. Groups of high school/college students are prohibited.Read more

  We were three couples coming in from different locations in Costa Rica to this house. Perfect setting so close to the beach in a well appointed house with lovely grounds and a terrific pool. We cooked together, partied together, went out day tripping to volcanoes, hiking, horseback riding, and dining out. This house was far enough away from the tourist filled areas, which added to the tranquility.
  It is tucked away on beautifully landscaped grounds with howler monkeys and exotic birds inhabiting the treetops.
  I can highly recommend staying at Casa Juliana for anyone looking for comfort, ocean access and pura vida.

  This was our first visit to the area and it definitely won't be our last. We loved the low key feeling of the area, enough stuff to do to stay busy, but no crowds. The house was absolutely beautiful, the landscaping and outdoor living areas were fantastic.no complaints at all, looking forward to our next visit.

  This property is gorgeous, well maintained and located close to restaurants and beaches. A group of six friends were easily accommodated. The property is a lush cosmopolitan venue in the middle of a secluded area. I wholeheartedly recommend this villa for a vacation getaway.

  Perfect and authentic Costa Rican experience

  Casa Juliana more than exceeded our expectations. On our first day, the property manager, Georgina, was on time to met us and made check in very easy and quick. The house itself was very clean and the grounds kept up very nicely. The rooms were very comfortable and there is an aC unit in every bedroom, which made for comfortable sleeping. The best part about the house is the outside living/dining/bar/grill and pool area which made a great spot for our group to hang out and relax and to spot the abundant wildlife in the area including iquanas and howler monkeys. The location was also great. Playa Junquillal is fairly remote and secluded and removed from touristy nightlife. However, there are multiple hotels ringing the property so you are able to go out for an evening meal or drink if you wish. A beautiful secluded beach is just a short walk from the house. Even though the house is in a more remote location, it is an easy drive to many wonderful and well known hotspots including Tamarindo, which is a bustling surf town and several of Costa Rica's beautiful national parks. We would definetly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing escape to paradise!

  Far From the Maddening Crowd

  A week at Casa Juliana was restful and wonderful! The location on very quiet Playa Junquillal is fantastic for beaching without the crowds of the tourist beaches to the north. Local caretakers Georgina and Steve took care of every request. The grounds were lush and impressive. Nearby restaurants and tour operators made the visit even more special for us.
