Notes on accommodation
The house is eco friendly, with solar panels and state of the art b...attery and automatic solar system with back up generator. The intention is to use as little electricity as possible. The house will run on solar energy only when using the television for several hours in the evening and the fridge is running. Lights also are possible to use freely. The generator will automatically turn on if the system detects a high draw, for example, turning on the dishwasher or washing machine. The sound given from the generator is a soft humm when it is running and it switches itself off when the machines drawing power have finished. On average, if not using big appliances, the house will recharge its batteries form generator power, once every four days and run for about six hours. We leave it to you to decide how much energy you will be using, but hope that you will have come to enjoy our house, supporting the plan to be as eco friendly as possible.
All bedrooms, a bathroom and the rest of the living area are all accessible on one floor.
The garden is absolutely beautiful and filled with cactus and local plant life. There are separate seating areas on both the large terrace and in the garden. Since we are outside any light polluted areas, the stars in the evening are spectacular. The sunsets over the mountains have to be seen. All of the garden and terrace area, with BBQ and huge dining table, all face the ocean. The house could not be more private. The closest neighbor is 900 meters away. The only time privacy is interrupted is if the goats are walking by and grazing outside the house perimeter. There is a garden entrance and the games room entrance. The garden entrance has huge pots with unusual cactus. There are also mature palm trees in the garden. The upper terrace with gas bbq has seating at a large teak table for 12 people. The lower terrace has sofa seating and there are four large teak lounge chairs as well as reclining chairs. Another seating area in the garden has a large bamboo sofa and two large chairs.
A 40% deposit is required at the time of booking with the balance being due six weeks before your holiday.
Just a note to say how much we enjoyed staying in your warm and interesting family property. Everything was just perfect. We love your garden and the sea views are a bonus. We liked cooking in the kitchen and we also tried out the barbecue which was excellent. We also like Playa Quemada very much indeed.
I am sure we will be back!
After a most wonderful week in your house, we are back in a freezing climate! How unfortunate; we wish we could have stayed a little longer. My eldest daughter, aged 13, commented how special it was that just a little while ago another family lived their life’s in the house. The children enjoyed the games that you left, and we read through a few of the books. We climbed the mountain beside the house, enjoyed the goats, and saw a lot of the island. And only after a week, we may be able to realize how nice it must have been to live there. We will definitely attempt to come back,

Additional Location Information
The villa is 900 metres to the waters edge of Playa Quemada. The marina is within walking distance along the coast. Sailing competitions are often being held just in front of the villa which is a joy to watch. The villa is perfect for young and old, with lots of space. It is a 10 minute drive to the main resort of Puerto del Carmen with lots of shops and restaurants. There are also exclusive shops in the local marina. There are an array of excursions to choose from in the marina. I highly recommend the catamaran sailing with Catlanza and the submarine excursion with Submarine Safaris. Local management can tell you more about these trips. The fire mountains are nearby and well worth seeing. This really is a stunning villa with the islands most desirable location.
A 15 minute beautiful coastal walk brings you to the local international prestigious marina of Puerto Calero. Walk 900 metres to the village of Playa Quemada and swim at the local beaches and dine in some of Lanzarote's most quaint restaurants overlooking the ocean.
The house is a 15 minute drive from Arrecife airport. I do recommend a car since the fire mountains and national park are just behind the villa, though a 10 minute drive away. Playa Blanca and its local ferry to Fuerteventura is a 15 minute drive and the closest large supermarket is 10 minutes away.
900 meters to the village of Playa Quemada which is one of the most quaint, on spoilt villages on the island. Local restaurants sit on the ocean.

This is a very spacious house in the local style, featuring jagged edges of exposed volcanic rock (particularly in the garden) alongside smooth curves of white painted plaster. We received very good directions, and had no problem finding it.
The location is pretty remote. The road that the villa is on leads only to a tiny coastal village, just under 1km beyond the house. Despite its small size, the village boasts more than one cafe/restaurant (we had a delicious vegetarian paella) and a rather lovely curved beach with volcanic black sand.
The location means that the villa is quiet and undisturbed, which is a bonus in many ways and certainly a change from day-to-day city life! On the other hand, you need to drive a few miles to pick up food or other supplies.
Casa Playa Quemada is very well equipped. The large modern kitchen has as many utensils as you could ever need, and there was enough bed linen, towels, etc. The small garden is nicely kept and there is plenty of garden furniture if you want to sit out. We had a problem with a broken washing machine, but it was replaced within a day or two. Also a minor problem with the main sitting room suite as it was rather worn and kept shedding little flakes of colour... but easy to brush them off.
The snooker table was a nice feature, although it didn't work all that well because it's not quite flat and there isn't really room to wield the cues. There is a large assortment of interesting books on the shelves in the kitchen/dining room and the corridor, plus several games and a huge library of Dvds (largely TV series, I think) -- so no shortage of entertainment. The TV gets lots of English-speaking channels.
We came with two children (7 and 5) and found the villa child-friendly, with plenty to keep them occupied and no particular hazards inside or out. They enjoyed the lizards in the garden (some quite big!) and the occasional goats outside.

This February we had a very nice stay with the whole family in Costa quemada, Lanzarote, staying at the Casa Costa Quemada. Before the holidays even started, I had a very nice email contact with the owner Cara, who also gave us a lot of useful tips for our stay. On location her employee Elfie has always been on call for us in order we had any question or needed help. So we felt very comforted.
The villa is wonderfully furnished and provides everything you need.
The Casa Costa Quemada is a perfect place to spend a recreating holiday, away from the crowded, touristy places on the island but on the other hand not too far away from civilisation. By car you can easyly reach supermarkets, the marina in Puerto Calero or the beaches in Playa blanca.
And if you take a 10 min footwalk downhill you reach the beautiful fisher´s village Playa Quemada and sitting right on the front of the ocean you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Not far from there is a very nice small black beach, excellent for a swim.
But you can also just stay in the Casa Costa Quemada and enjoy sitting in the wonderful garden looking at the blue sea or turn around and have a mountain view with a sunset at night!
