Columbus, OhioThe pura vida in comfort.

The Bambula sits on the cusp of Samara. A perfect pedestrian locale for amenities(markets, restaurants, bars and most importantly the beach!), without feeling the town's "bustle" of daily activity and out of ear's reach of the night's bass beats. A perfect place to siesta, escaping the heat of the day, and/or crashing after an epic adventure.
Your day starts with monkeys in the nearby canopy and an iguana skittering at your peeking. Then maybe a read in the hammock or a dip in the pool.
From there, who knows, but the Bambula is always around the corner. Or just ask Pierre. A gracious and patient host, he will steer you in the right direction without being over zealous.

Vancouver, CanadaStop looking... this private oasis is the place to stay!
Left on 01/21/2013 for a stay in November 2012
We stayed in the Iguana apartment at Bambula for 2 weeks this past november, and wished we could have stayed longer! Clean, well equipped, and very spacious with a fantastic private balcony overlooking the grounds. Tranquil (except for the howler monkeys and birds!) and secluded by lush vegetation, you wouldn't realize you're just around the corner from 'downtown' Samara.
It is a five minute walk straight down the main street to the beach. The property is gated and very safe, not once did we feel uneasy about leaving any belongings / documents in our apartment while day-tripping around.
That said, it is the host(s) that will make or break any vacay rental... so hats off to Pierre. We found Pierre to be genuinely open and friendly, as well as generous in sharing his knowledge of the community and surrounding areas. All of this, yet totally respectful of our privacy. You couldn't ask for more. -

My wife and I with our 2 kids spent one week at Bambula Samara and it was so much fun. Pierre is an awsome host and he has built a little paradise that any trveler would enjoy. The houses are very clean and the yard is filled with beautiful plants and fruit trees. The kids loved the pool and I love the hammock ;)
The town of Playa Samara is quite charming and everything is in walking distance from Pierre's lovely Bambula Samara. I recomend this place to any travelers visiting this area of Costa Rica. -

The owner, Pierre , has created an oasis in the middle of the tropical heat of Samara. We stayed in the upper suite and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The suite is so spacious and the pool below us was so welcome every day and a great social gathering spot with the other guests. Pierre is an entertaining guy and so friendly, we felt right at home. An excellent place to be, right in the heart of Samara !

We were so lucky to find Bambula ! The owner, Pierre could not have been nicer. or more fun to be around and also is so knowledgeable about this area of Costa Rica. We stayed in the upper (Iguana) suite and it was so spacious and wonderful- great decor and amenities ! Also the pool on the property was so welcome any time of day or night, as the weather was sunny and hot every day. We enjoyed Bambula immensely and would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy their stay in Samara.

We arrived in Samara with nowhere to stay and happened to bump into Pierre who took us to his guesthouse which was a ten minute walk from the beach, but still nice and quiet. He turned out to be a very warm, friendly and extremely accomodationg host who couldn't do enough to make us welcome. The rooms are very clean, modern and tastefully furnished with all the facilities, there is a small, convenient outdoor kitchen for cooking and the garden is very nice. Undoubtably the best thing about our stay was Pierre himself. A very interesting, generous, fun loving guy and seasoned traveller who had detailed knowledge about the area. He took us to see the local crocodiles, to a rodeo, out salsa dancing and dropped us off twenty miles up the road to catch a bus when we needed it, all for nothing. A true gem of a guy, a real legend. The price was also very reasnoable.

The landlord Pierre is a great host! We were very well taken care of. We were there for 5 weeks for my husband's dental work. The dentist office was just few minutes walk away. We stayed in the upstairs apartment for a month and downstairs apartment for the last week. Both apartments were clean, spacious and beautifully decorated with Pierre's wonderful photographs. The upstairs apartment has a really nice balcony where we often had our meals. The downstairs apartment has a hammock and opens onto the patio and pool. We were just and easy walk down the street to the beach. We cooked a lot of meals in the apartments, but restaurants are very close by, too, as well as grocery stores, coffee shop, and gift stores. Iguanas, monkeys and birds often visited our patio and the trees above it. We would definitely go back to Bambula!

It was our second trip to Costa Rica, after 6 years...
Bambula villa:
Was a magical experience, a wonderful place...peaceful! It was a real pleasure to stay in this private villa. Pierre (the owner) is just so cool person..., helpful and cooperative host. He will arrange a pick-up/ drop-off if you need, can give you such good ideas on the best place to eat and worthy places to go to enjoy Costa Rica/Samara in best way. What is funny - in his company you feel like an old friends. On the other hand, he can give you a valuable advice or share his opinion if you think of investing in Costa Rica.
The villa is very close to town but away from the noise of the town. It is very private and safe. We stayed at cabina for 12 days. The room was clean, big and comfortable enough for 2 persons. Furniture is made of solid tropical wood which gives a nice feel to the place. Outside kitchenette gave additional opportunity to be on the fresh air around massive tropical trees and listen to the monkey's "songsâ€.
Samara beach:
Is stunning and just a few minutes away. We've been to Carillo, Flamingo, Conchal, Coco, Ocotal beaches in CR. Only Samara beach has its unique relaxation power!
Pierre is jewels in his own way and I think does an excellent job. At the end of our tour we purchased a condo apartment. Therefore we can tell: yes, we will be back one day, to visit wonderful Pierre, to enjoy the hospitality of Bambula, and be one-on-one with Samara beach...

I stayed at Pierres beautiful place with a friend for over a month while we were going to language school in Samara. There are two beautiful, spacious apartments and two condos that are all a really great value for money and Samara was the perfect place for us, all the infrastructure you like to have (nice beach, some surf, restaurants, stores, bank, some night life) but it is still not too touristy.
The owner Pierre is also a really cool, knowledgeable guy who can give you some great advice about little trips around Samara.
A great spot, I would definitively come back :)

We stayed with my girlfriend at Pierre place: Bambula in Samara, Costa Rica.
It was a great experience! No need to go to fare to encounter the jungle fauna: The monkey come into the garden among Iguana and exotic birds.
The apartment was really clean and comfortable, well located in the cute village of Samara, near by beautifull beach.
The ambiance with the other guest is jovial.
I will definitely recommend Bambula Samara to all my friends!

I had never been to Costa Rica before and had friends in Nosara to go visit but just did not like the area so a friend suggested Samara, which was great. Nice little sea side town with everything you could need or want for a beach side getaway. Nice people, great food and plenty of night life, beautiful beach for swimming.. I have to say that what really made it all come together as a great vacation was my good fortune to find the wonderful little lodge Bambula Samara with it's great host/owner Pierre Chasle. He has owned a little resort/getaways in Hawaii for years and really knows how to treat his guests with that personal touch. He made me feel like I was at home away from home. It can be hard to find your way around a new placed in a foreign country but with Pierre's help and generous time I really got to experience all that this part of Costa Rica has to offer and meet some of his interesting friends. In addition the accommodation were simple but tasteful and clean and very reasonable. I hope I get a chance to return and spend more time there again. I highly recommend you try the "Bambula" experience while your in the Costa Rica.

I booked the Iguana apartment for 3 days for my mom and I, but ended up staying the whole week. The place is very pleasant and has beautiful wood work. Our apartment was very spacious and it felt very safe. I definitely think that the price was low for what we got! We had a full kitchen to prepare some of our meals. Pierre is a very nice host. He gave us tips on what to do around and we felt easily at home.
Bambula Samara is close to everything which was great for my mom as she could go anywhere on her own. It is walking distance from beautiful Samara Beach with lots of restaurants and even night life.
