Description from the owner
Out of town, in the hills above samara beach, Casa Mango is nestled in a tropical garden with great ocean views. It's a relaxing retreat after a busy day of sun, sand, and surf. One bedroom and an extra futon in the living area make a great base for a young family or a couple - sleeps 4. Casa Mango shares a "get cool" pool and shady rancho (covered terrace) with Casa Papaya, also for rent. Rent both houses for a fun family reunion. Owners live in their own home on the property year around to assist you in any way possible.

San Francisco, CaliforniaA very enjoyable stay

We had a very nice week in Casa Mango with 2 adults and 2 small children. The home and pool are small and basic, but our friends rented the larger home on the same property (Casa Papaya) and it worked out very nicely since when you are here the weather is so nice you will mostly be spending time outdoors in the shared deck & swimming pool area. The grounds are very pretty and green. The owners live on the same property; their home is far enough away that you have full privacy, but close enough that when you need something they are available; my luggage had gotten lost at the airport and they were extremely generous with the their time and helpful getting it delivered to the property. The property is a little too far from the beach to walk, but this also means that it is quiet. Samara is a great town, great weather in December – warm and sunny every day except for one rainstorm in the whole week we were there– and it has a wonderful beach for swimming with kids and beginner surfing lessons.

We rented both places casa papaya and casa Mango. Though small they are both good places. We were never really in them except to sleep and spent alot of time in the ranchero which would be awkward if you were a seperate renter. I have heard rave reviews online regarding owners but except for two seconds at the start when i could not get the password to work on the gate, nothing. Thats where it could be so much better there are alot of rules printed everywhere but not very welcoming. It is a a significant walk to Samara not 10 min. not even by bike. Some flowers picked and put in the casa would have been welcoming. I would suggest a offer to rent a cell would be nice as our Iphones could not accept the sim cards and it was real hard to get a taxi with no phones. walking during daylight was about 25 min. but going back in the dark uphill was sketchy. Walking the beach at night to get back it would have been nice to know if that was a bad idea. Some recommendations on sights and resturants would of been nice. The casas need some work on mosquito nets(holes) and cleaning off the spider webs I know Costa rica has bugs but some upkeep would keep them at bay. It is a great place for families but closer to glam camping, then upscale casa. Lke a said good place but could use some improvements mostly on the owners area, as you just feel like you are a bother and costing them money. The e-mails were friendly but not the person, note the e-mails info needs updating as in the directions to the place the surfboard is broken and no longer there and the the number on the gatepost was painted over. There was no guestbook and the housekeeper comes once.Samara is a beautifull friendly place and the resturants were all great and find the seafood guy by the pali supermarket for excellent seafood.

49463Comfortable stay in Samara beach
Left on 03/19/2012 for a stay in January 2012
I have been a regular to CR and this time stayed at Casa Mango in Samara Beach in January 2012. Samara is a nice "resort" area in the Nicoya Peninsula and is home to a great beach. Casa Mango is situated about 1 mile from the main drag in town and is conveniently located to all attractions in the area (the canopy Tour is right down the street). Casa Mango is a gated property that shares a pool with its sister home Casa Papaya and is located about 50 yards from the owner's main home. The entire property is well landscaped and cared for and attention to conservation and green activities are evident throughout. Although small, Casa Mango has everything a couple needs and provides twice-weekly cleaning services. The view from the front porch is outstanding and the owners go out of their way to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. There is really no need for air Conditioning as long as you run the ceiling and table fans and the property receives a nice breeze especially at night. I stayed for 3 weeks and had no problems with bugs/insects and always felt safe on the property. The in-room safe offered storage protection for valuables. WiFi is available and reception is best on the front porch and in the bedroom. I have only positive things to say about the property and its owners and would not hesitate to recommend Casa Mango (or Casa Papaya) to other travelers.
