      Fantastic!

We have just returned from 2 weeks at Luna azul and will definitely be back! We have rented homes all over the world and this is truly a very special home in a gorgeous location. Our family loved the extremely remote and private setting, the empty beaches and surf and the endless sunshine. You really have a gem in Luna azul.

      1 week in total Paradise!

We loved Luna azul! It was everything & more than we ever expected - the owners of the property gave us an information packet that was full of great information about the area that was very helpful. Lots to see & do or not do - if you choose not to. The house was fabulous and very comfortable - I could have sat there all week long and just enjoyed the view - it was beautiful! Lots of room for a party of 10 to be very comfortable together. I would recommend it to anyone - it really was paradise!

Beautiful house and view. Spectacular sunsets every night. Caretaker on the property who attends to every need. The infinity pool is a highlight and always perfectly clean. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make a gourmet meal. Local markets are close.

It is very remote with 4 wheel drive required. There are great beaches a short distance away and local restaurants close by. For the more adventurous, driving up and down the coast to other towns and beaches is a lot of fun. Try to visit the Islita Hotel for a drink or dinner.

Although most businesses take american dollars, very few take credit cards. Bring small bills: ones, fives, tens as well. There are gringos around but if you speak Spanish it is a plus.

Truly one of the best vacations I have ever had!

Luna azul is paradise in a rural setting.

Left on 12/27/2012 for a stay in November 2012

Our group drove the 3 1/2 hours from Liberia airport. One and one-half hours of that is on dirt road, so a 4WD is suggested (we didn't rent them). Also suggested is that you take the road from Samara along the coast rather than inland. If you enjoy relaxing in a paradise setting with few distractions, you'll love Luna azul. The scenery is spectacular, the beaches gorgeous and out-of-towners sparse. We totally enjoyed the food at Pueblo Nuevo, conversing with the owner, Denise, several times. It helped that a few of our group knew some Spanish. Andre, at Treehouse Pizza, was gracious enough to open his place and make us several pizzas when we showed up at his place one evening. Definitely make plans to visit the The Butterfly Farm where Mike will dazzle you with his impressive knowledge of local bees, bats and insects. The local beaches are filled with the nests of sea turtles, and we saw remnants of hatchlings who had found their way back to the ocean. If you enjoy sea fishing, the on-site caretaker, Antonio, can set you up with someone to take you out, as our group enjoyed. Our group asked about horseback riding, and antonio saw to it that local "guides" came by to pick us up with horses for a nice two-hour ride around the local area. An 8-section zip-line course is also available a half hour away at Punta Islita Hotel. The ten people in our group had plenty of room and enjoyed making use of the spacious kitchen and outdoor BBQ. It was definitely one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever enjoyed.

      Wow!!!

Left on 03/21/2012 for a stay in March 2012

Just got back from twelve days at Luna azul and "Wow!" says it all. The house is luxurious and modern in a beautiful natural setting. The views from the house and pool are amazing (the pictures on the site do not do it justice). From the pool area you have a 270 degree view of nothing but natural Costa Rica. No other houses, no bill boards, no traffic lights, no t-shirt shops, just you and natural Costa Rica (and an occasional group of monkeys swinging by or parrots flying overhead). If you want a relaxing way to get away form it all, you found it here.

The local people consist mostly of farmers and ranchers and are the nicest people you will ever meet. Just down the hill is Pueblo Nuevo, a small town with two restaurants and a small grocery. Several nights we stopped to have a beer and chat with the locals who were always very welcoming. Karaoke is a must see!

The beaches are fabulous. San Miguel is a short five minute drive and must be two to three miles long. The largest crowd of people I saw on the beach was six. We almost always had the place to ourselves. Another favorite is Camaronal. At this beach is a group of volunteers which watch over the sea turtle eggs. If you like surfing, you won't be disappointed with the numerous spots in the area.

The Luna azul owners gave us a long list of things to do in addition to lounging at the pool and hitting the beach. There are waterfalls, zip lines, nature trails, a butterfly house, and horseback riding to name a few. We couldn't do everything, so we definitely are coming back.

      Paradise! Relaxing warm breezes!

Left on 03/12/2012 for a stay in December 2009

We brought our family here at Christmas time, and what a gift it was. The house was the perfect private place to chill out after hours of great offshore surf. Our kids loved the pool and were amazed by the monkeys that came close to the house. It was such a great escape from the city, with the beautiful view of the ocean, jungle and valley from all sides of this home, the design of this home is fabulous, as attention to detail was thought out in the planning of home. Our family cannot wait to visit it again.

Kids had a great time in the pool!! At the local beach trying to get coconuts!

      Breathtaking Escape!

Left on 02/11/2012 for a stay in February 2011

We spent a week at Luna azul in February of 2009 and loved it so much we came back for another week in 2011. Coming from Southern California, the journey through the rural countryside really sets the stage for the complete escape this property offers. Settled atop a beach-facing hillside with unobstructed panoramic views to the Pacific Ocean and interior mountains, this site is truly unique. Every amenity we are accustomed to at home is available yet offered in a laid back beach front style. Clean, welcoming, and comfy rooms open onto infinity edge pool deck with an ocean backdrop view. Bathrooms in each room have day-lit glass block spacious walk-in showers. The upstairs terraza demands that you grab a fruity cocktail and drink in the amazing surroundings from a hammock. Great beach just a short drive away, and even closer is a small village with basic groceries and restaurant bar. Get down there, rent a four-wheel drive, and experience this breathtaking escape for yourself!!
