The apartment has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and a pool. The furniture was adequate except for the futon. It does not have a futon mat, but an extremely thin cushion so that it is nearly unbearable and for sure you cannot sleep on it. The set up is each room has a double bed, one with the bathroom in the hallway and one the bathroom is in the room. The sheets and towels were new and the mattresses were spring type.
The kitchen set up was adequate, the pans are horrible and dont expect a fully stocked kitchen...but it was adequate if you cook infrequently. There is a rice cooker, blender and microwave.
The pool was great, very refreshing. There is a washing machine but evidently the whole complex uses it and it takes forever, so we literally did wash in the middle of the night,
The management changed while we were there. Everyone was very nice but not easy to get a hold of. I was told that with management change that would be different.
When we arrived nothing was set up, but we took care of that ourselves. The hot water tank broke repeatedly as did the fridge, they did fix the fridge but there was no compensation for all of our lost food. We were told they would be fixing the hot water tank. For a part of each day the town has no water, you never know when or for how long, it isnt a problem just for that apartment but is an infrastructure issue.
The location is great, there is a small pulperia (store) called luperon which is a 4 minute walk, also 2 very good restaurants and a coffee shop. the beach is a quick walk across the street. However it would not be a beach to surf at but it is very pretty. I would recomend Tamarindo (rent a board for 8 dollars a day at Matos, Juan is an awesome instructor for 30 dollars) or if you have a 4wd Las Catalinas.
Overall We had an awesome time, none of the hiccups ruined our stay, it seems par for the course in many countries, I just wanted to inform you of our experience. The unit is very clean and the management were all very nice.
It is not at all wheelchair accessible. -
