    Additional Location Information

Point Reyes is located approximately 22 miles north of San Francisco, in West Marin. Close enough to drive out to for the day, yet remote and authentically rural.
When I moved to Point Reyes in 1987 to practice medicine, I loved that it had postal boxes where neighbors gathered. I still love how all you need can be found within 4 blocks.
Located on the Point Reyes Mesa across from Inverness Park. Stroll within a private neighborhood, passing a small pond, Cypress groves, and daffodils. We are located one scenic mile north beyond the town of Point Reyes. A favorite day starts with a morning cup of rich coffee and sticky morning buns from the Bovine Bakery, browsing at the Point Reyes Books independent bookstore, and catching the local farmers market in the Summer and Fall at Toby's Feedbarn. Purchase all else at the local Palace market and the Cow Girl Creamery deli replete with local cheese, oven-baked bread, and pick up some local grass fed organic meats at Sun Farms. Or prepare your lunch in our well stocked kitchen before heading out to the Point Reyes National Seashore Headquarters for a full day's hike. The Point Reyes National Seashore contains unique elements of biological and historical interest in a spectacularly scenic panorama of thunderous ocean breakers, open grasslands, bushy hillsides and forested ridges. Drive out to the Lighthouse stopping along the landscape characterized by spectacular shorelines, dairy farms and over 65,000 acres of wilderness protected by the Point Reyes National Seashore. Head home stopping for fresh mussels and oysters from local shellfish Hog Island farms to grill on the barbeque, or select from fine or casual dining options.

      fantastic time with the kids

Left on 05/26/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We recently spent 5 days in Point Reyes with our 2 and 5 year old and stayed in this property. We had a great time. The house was beautiful, clean and very well appointed. We saw a bald eagle the first day and it only got better from there. The deck and the views were fantastic, and stargazing from the hot tub was amazing. It is in a great location, within reasonable walking distance from Point Reyes Station, which had great restaurants. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously and our kids cried when we had to leave. Highly recommended!

      Terrific

Left on 03/14/2011 for a stay in December 2010

We loved this home. Having visited Pt Reyes Station many times over the years, we would rate this home as the highest on our list. It is still easily accessible to the
center of town, but is very private and quiet. The location is absolutely suberb. The house is getting a little worn in places, there could be some updating of kitchen wares, but those are minor complaints. Patty Glatt was very helpful as a host, called us when we arrived to insure that we were comfortable settled, and made herself accessible if we needed anything. We had lots of storms with not much opportunity to fully partake of the spectacular deck. Despite those circumstances, we were able to enjoy the wonderful view because there are windows everywhere. The best recommendation is that we plan a return trip this year, staying even longer this time.

      Pt. Reyes Memories

We had a wonderful week. Your home is delightful and extremely comfortable. The view and the location is spectacular. The weather was unseasonably warm when we were there and we were able to use the deck every day.

      Perfect Group Getaway

Left on 03/11/2011 for a stay in March 2011

This cozy, spacious home in Point Reyes Station is a perfect getaway spot for a family or group of friends. It has two good sized bedrooms and a third attic bedroom that kids would love. It also has a fully equipped kitchen, a comfy living room with board games, and a retro fabulous record collection. The home has a natural and unpretentious design, with lots of wood and light.

The best part of the house is the back deck overlooking Tomales Bay. It is awesome for barbecuing, lying out, admiring the sunset, and kicking back in the hot tub under the stars. It is also an excellent place to birdwatch. (There's even binoculars and identification cards supplied for you.)

The house has many other nice touches. The master bedroom shower has a beautiful view of a little private Japanese garden. The heating system is in the floors, and takes a few hours to kick in, but once it gets going I loved walking barefoot on the warm floors.

The house is located a short drive from Pt. Reyes and its many trailheads. We spent our days hiking and birdwatching all over Pt. Reyes... then came home in the evenings to make dinner in the kitchen, build a fire in the wood stove, and soak in the hot tub.

Two things to keep in mind:

      1) The home is almost too big for two people. It is best for groups of 3 to 8.

      2) This is somebody's home, not a fancy hotel with maids picking up after you. You'll need to leave the home in the condition you found it. Budget a little time at the end of your stay for clean up.

All in all, we had a wonderful time at Egret's Overlook and definitely plan to return for another relaxing long weekend close to nature.

Response from Patty Glatt - 03/12/2011

      Patty Glatt

      Owner

Cleaning is included; we merely ask that guests leave it in considerate condition. The guest wrote me to tell me she spotted northern pintails, gadwalls, or american widgeons. She concluded "We had such a great time at your home. I don't know how you can bear to rent it out .:) "
