A great place for a reunion

Left on 10/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012

I stayed here with four old friends whom I hadn't seen in several years. It was a great place for a reunion. We walked into town for dinner one night, cooked together another night, played games in the game room and had our morning coffee in the sun porch. It was totally relaxed and comfotable.

Family reunion in beautiful and warm setting

Left on 12/11/2011 for a stay in November 2011

Our family had a reunion at the Pt. Reyes Schoolhouse Compound over Thanksgiving that couldn't have been better. The compound is so flexible, everyone had comfort and privacy yet room for our group of 8 to cook, eat and hang out together. We feasted on oysters, hiked the trails, and read from the wonderful collection of nature writers provided. Karen Gray, the owner, is very knowledgeable about the area and has wonderful suggestions for hikes and activities. It's the best- we're coming back for our daughter's wedding at the Schoolhouse this summer!

      A great escape

Left on 11/11/2011 for a stay in October 2011

We escaped to the old point Reyes schoolhouse for an escape from hectic daily life. What a nice retreat. Nicely decorated - not cutesy. Lovely setting. The fact that the home has many separate areas was helpful given our large group. I'd highly recommend.

      Misrepresentation of accomodations

Left on 10/29/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Three friends and I stayed in the Schoolhouse for three nights last weekend. The website looked great and it described the house as having four bedrooms with a queen, two doubles and two single beds. Although the Schoolhouse was more costly than some other lodging in the area, we decided we would treat ourselves We were very disappointed in the accomodations.

The beds: The master bedroom has a comfortable queen bed but unfortunately, the doubles and one of the twins were not acceptable. One double bed was a fold out couch propped up on a coffee table, leaving it to sag substantially in the middle. The second double was a futon that folded out to two thirds of a bed and then a separate cushion had to be laid at the end to accomodate your feet. My friend had to be careful not to move around too much because the cusion could have fallen off the end of the futon frame. The two twin beds turned out to be one comfortable twin and an army cot. The bedding on all the beds was basic, family bedding. For the price, I expected better.
The house: The house had a sense of history and many rooms/spaces to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and a good book. There was good sunlight during the day and there were bookshelves loaded with interesting books. Unfortunately, as other reviewers mentioned, the house could have used a good cleaning. There were cobwebs and dust throughout. Renters must strip the beds, take out trash and run the dish washer prior to leaving.
      Not worth the price.
