Chantilly, FranceExceptionnel
Left on 05/10/2013 for a stay in April 2013

From the time we arrived to the time we left, all staff were attentive in a non intrusive way, very willing and able to assist and go the extra mile. Nothing is too much to ask for,the word "no" does not seem to exist in the vocabulary of the staff.
The penthouse we stayed in is very spacious, elegantly furnished with top quality finishes, the views and the beach absolutely specatcular. The beach must rate amongst the best, if not the best in Maurituis, and we have visited Mauritius many, many times over the years and stayed at some of the best hotels on the island.
The location is somewhat remote (which is great if you are looking for peace and total relaxation) but close enough to hotels( between 5 and 20 minutes drive) where one can make use of facilities at a cost. Some very good restaurants in the area, which deliver to the complex at no additional cost. The quality of restaurants compares to restaurants anywhere in the world.
Overall a magnificent property and experience, competitively priced to provide an equivilant alternative to 5* resorts. -

We stayed for a week and could have stayed for ever. The apartment is furnished to a high specification with the best appointed bathrooms we have ever seen in accommodation of this sort. Everything is so easy from sympathetic management and exemplary cleaning to a 30 second walk to the beach from the drawing room French windows. The roar and sight of the breakers on the coral reef are truly fantastic and the sunning or shaded areas are superb (no competition for beds since they are specifically allocated to the apartment). This place is for relaxation and not for night life. Go elsewhere for that. The quality of the food delivered by restaurants, especially the Beauvallon, is of a very high quality. We could not recommend this place more highly (it is entirely secure, having a gated and manned front and a night watchman after 6pm). We really did not want to leave.

We spent one week at Paradise Beach and absolutely loved it. We had a really wonderful stay in one of the ground floor apartments, right on one of the best beaches on the island.
The apartment is truly five star, with quality fixtures, linens, furniture, glassware and crockery. Nothing was skimped on and the result is a very luxurious experience.
We didn't really miss any of the "resort amenities". If we wanted to eat out, all we had to do was ring one of the approved restaurants and they would either deliver or pick us up and drop us back off after dinner (for free!!).
On one night we had a chef come and cook us some local Mauritian food. Oh my god, it was one of the best meals we've ever had.
Another night we called the local seafood guy and he came around and let us choose. We tasted lobsters (amazing!), fish and oysters. This service is unbelievably cheap - we paid a fraction of the price we would back home and the lobster was so fresh it was still alive.
We were in Mauritius to relax so unfortunately we really didn't take Jeff, the Horizon Concierge, up on many of the activities available. But we did spend a day at Cocos Island just across the bay. It was a very pleasant day (but please, please remember your sunscreen - I got horribly burnt). Jeff was super attentive and willing to help us with anything that we might like to do.
The complex manager Mary-Anne is another lovely person that we'd like to thank. She is always available if you need her but she is very discreet and pleasant to deal with.
This place is so great that I even have to thank the lady that cleaned our apartment every day. She was super efficient in her tasks and always did a 100% perfect job with a beautiful smile.
When we come back to Mauritius, this is where we will be staying. Visit Preskil for the "novelty" factor. The only thing we got out of it was the reassurance that we had made the right decision in staying at Paradise Beach.
Five stars! -

My family and I have stayed at varoius 5 star locations on the island over the years. I was very impressed with the overall package that Paradise beach and the Horizon team offer. For a family with kids this was by far a more cost effective solution than staying in a top hotel. The apartments are very modern and well equiped. The team on the ground IE Mary-Ann and Jeff are fantastic. The pictures on the web site are exactly what you get in real life. An amazing smimming beach. Thank you to the team for an awesome holiday . we will be back

Truely a gem. Located on the most beautiful strip of beach. If you are looking for the convenience of a serviced apartment with the advantage of all the little extras then this is perfect. If standing in queues for tasteless buffets is not your thing then this will suit you. The delivery of warm baquettes every morning, the vegetarian curry vendor, the little extras the house keeper did, the lack of tourists and the stroll across the lawn to the beach make for a true escape. The apartments are well equipped and maintained and decor is discreet and understated. The local supermarkets are appealing in the simplicity of what they have to offer.. .how much do you really need on holiday afterall? Scuba diving can be arranged with Le Preskil hotel just up the road and glass bottom trips in Blue Bay Marine Park directly with vendors.

Paradise Beach promises relaxation and that is exactly what you will get. If you are looking for tourist traps, big noisy shopping centres, or a party atmosphere, then this is not the place for you. But if you want peace and quiet and a holiday that forces you to relax, Paradise Beach is it. It is also a perfect location for swimming, snorkelling and water sports like kite-surfing and wind surfing.
The easiest way to get to the apartment from the airport if you are in a rented car ( best option in my opinion to get around and can be rented for about 1000 rupees a day if you shop around) is to follow the roadsigns to Mahebourg and then turn right to Blue Bay before you reach the traffic circle at Mahebourg (clearly signposted). At the T junction turn left ( if you turn right here you will pass Blue Lagoon hotel and arrive at Blue Bay beach). The Paradise Beach will be on your right approximately 2km down the road- look out for the huge tree overhanging the road. You will be warmly welcomed in very hospitable Mauritian style by the security personel at the gate and by Mary ann, the manager of the complex. We stayed in a three bedroomed groundfloor apartment.
The apartment has everything you could possibly need. Aircon and fans in all rooms, comfortable beds, safes (we had no security problems during our stay), two televisions (limited English channels however), microwave and thermofan oven, dishwasher, Nespresso machine ( only 5 coffee pods provided but you can buy extra pods from Mary ann) and a fridge/ freezer with an ice/ water dispenser providing safe drinking water. The wifi access was reliable and proved more than adequate for our needs. Welcome pack consists of milk, juice, croissants, jam, tea and coffee and a fruit bowl. There is salt and pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar provided, but you may want to take fish spice with you as there is very little choice of spices in the local shops besides curry of all descriptions. Free daily bread is delivered to your door still warm each morning. London Way is the closest supermarket, but we also used Kingsavers, which is just to the right on the circle as you come into Mahebourg and which has a good selection on non-perishables but which for some reason is not listed in the information brochure provided. If you don't mind the heat and the crowds, the Mahebourg market on a Monday is a great place to find fresh fruit and veg and also cheap souvenirs.
I reccommend you bring fins, a mask and a snorkel with you. We snorkelled twice in Blue Bay, paying 1400 rupees (best rate we could negotiate for 4 people for 1 to 1.5 hours ) for a glass bottomed boat to take us out into the coral area of the lagoon to avoid an otherwise long and dangerous (many boats travelling across the lagoon carrying tourists to the safe conservation area) swim. It is a worthwhile excursion as the sea life there is beautiful and you will see a great variety of fish and corals. If you turn left on the beach in front of the Paradise Beach complex, you will see a rocky prominentary where you will find some beautiful corals and fish ( we saw a small stingray too), but there is a bit of a current around the prominentary and a motorboat slipway just the other side of it, so wear fins in case you need to get out of the way in a hurry. There is more extensive (but less beautiful) coral to the right side of the beach where the rocks begin too. The beach directly in front of the complex is sandy, with little sealife except around the boat moorings, where we spotted a few fish and some small lurking moray eels, but there are a few sea urchins, so unless you are going to stay in the shallow water, better swim with rubber sea shoes/ boots.
The East coast of Mauritius where Paradise Beach is located is more windy than the West Coast and even though we were there in summer, we did have significant wind on some days, especially in the afternoons.
The Mauritian mosquitoes are a factor after sunset, so take some repellant if you want to go out at night. There are mosquito pads provided in the apartment however.
We enjoyed a visit to St aubin's where they have a sugar factory, a vanilla plantation and a rum distillery and a restuarant that serves awesome Creme Brulee and fresh squeezed pineapple cocktails. We also enjoyed a great meal of Dholl Puri delivered by Lall to our apartment for under 200 rupees- a tasty bargain. Loved the vanilla tea too. -

Paradise Beach looked amazing on the internet, but in reality it more than lived up to the hype. It is probably the best kept secret in Mauritius, and perhaps I should not be writing a review, but it is so outstanding that it would be a shame not to share it. We stayed in B4, (first floor, far left looking from the beach) and the room was superbly appointed. It has 2 Tv's, limited Dstv, Nespresso machine (they sell the capsules for R70 per box at the office), dishwasher, washing machine, Bose iPod dock, aircon and fan in all rooms, a fridge that produces ice and filtered water, etc etc. The construction work was done very well with no sign of wear and tear anywhere, and everything has been chosen carefully by someone who knows what they are doing.
There is a London Way supermarket just a few kms down the road, and a taxi is about $5-$6 or the bus, which stops outside the complex is only 60c one way. They sell wine and everything you could need, while the complex can supply through local merchants fresh fruit and veges, sea food etc. Every morning a basket arrives outside your door with 2 long crispy baguettes in it for free, and there is washing liquid, dishwasher pills, toilet rolls, shampoo etc in the units. Maryann, the complex manager, was extremely helpful and ensured that we had everything we needed.
Down the road in the other direction is the Blue Bamboo restaurant which is great value and do excellent pizzas, which they will delive for free, though we had a meal there for 5 adults and 6 kids for $130 ($10 each) including drinks. It is so nice not to be ripped off $15 a glass of wine, as some of the top hotels do, and to feed your kids properly. We arraged a local chef to cook us a chicken and prawn curry, with smoked marlin starter, and it was superb and cost $23 for his time, plus the ingredients. Great value and the there was so much that we had enough for lunch the next day.
The units are serviced daily and are spotlessly clean, and Jeff the concierge can help with trusted excursions. We went on a boat to Isle aux Cerfs for $66 an adult and $33 per kid, and it was a full day of snorkelling and cruising up the coast, and included drinks and a delicious fish and lobster lunch on the island. (Thanks to Harold (www.haroldetmaryse.com) for a great trip.)
The beach and snorkelling is some of the best we have seen, and there are great spots just down to the right as you look out to sea for snorkelling. The sand is mostly very soft, though some areas have the inevitable coral bits, and the sunloungers out the front are almost always empty. If the weather is windy, the stunning pool out back is very warm and crystal clear, and our kids spent a lot of time there though they are required to be quiet from 2-5pm when people are resting.
We were lucky enough to have a friend arrange temporary membership at the yacht club down the beach, which did great burgers and currys, and drinks and wine, all at club prices. Overall, having taken advantage of a low season (high season starts on 19 Dec) special rate we paid $2000 for 10 nights for a three bedroom apartment, though this can change greatly during high season. I will be surprised if we spent another $1500 on food, drink and activities. At that price it overdelivered on quality, and is without doubt the best place we have ever stayed in Mauritius and we will definately be back -

Good day, we were hosts of the Beach Paradise in October.
We went in honeymoon with our 3-year-old baby
The place is really fantastic!
The welcome of Mary - Anne to the ours I arrive was very kind and we found at home already the full refrigerator of agreeable local products. The apartment is attractive very large and furnished with flavor and elegance.
All thought to enjoy the it you please some vacation.
The photograph of the site I am realistic and not Photoshop the place is really attractive.
We were at the first plan with a fantastic visa on the beach. Also we turned other beaches but this is really incredible!
Near the residence there are alone villas no hotel no commotion no parachute or other things troublesome alone relaxation sea alone white and soft sand.
To the wide one the coral reef protects from the waves of the ocean and enjoys of this sea turquoise, to little from the beach there are some obstacles of coral and with the mask and fins see themselves attractive tropical fish.
We want also it signal the professionalism and courtesy of Jeff that has organizing an unforgettable trip to the island coco.
We want also to remember us the choice kitchen of Dario I cook excellent that gets ready the its choice dishes under your eyes, really kind and capable.
A book would want us to tell all the wonders of the island.
Counsel a lot this residence.
Thanks of the attractive memories of journey

Reservation process was easy - we booked direct and got a 'couple's discount'. They also booked a taxi from the airport on arrival (600 rupees).
Sheila welcomed us (lovely lady!) and the apartment is seriously 'wow factor'. The view from the master bedroom and living room is picture postcard. Kitchen had everything you need (including a few ingredients like olive oil, balsamic, jam, and there was a 'welcome basket' of fresh fruit & croissants). A fresh baguette was delivered to the apartment every morning before we got up!
The bed was comfy (and enormous), bath was also plenty big enough for 2, shower had 2 shower heads and always had plenty of hot water. Tv in bedroom only had 4 channels and the one in the lounge had a few more (including satellite TV) but the choice was quite poor.
Wifi is provided but it's so slow it's painful. It's on a par with the UK in the 1990s.
The beach was gorgeous, although not white powder sand like you'd get in the Maldives. There were small bits of broken coral (if I'm being really nit-picky!). Sea was freezing so I didn't go in, but it didn't stop other holiday-makers.
Kite surfing is excellent on the beach just in front of the apartment. Wind direction perfect.
Locally there's very little to do. There's a hotel about 10 mins walk away called Preskil so we went to try it on our 2nd evening, given that we'd read good reviews on the Steak House. Total disappointment! My steak was overcooked, one of the waiters threw a strop on another, the garlic bread hadn't been heated enough to melt the garlic butter. It was also quite hard to get the attention of the waiters to get a drink (and it was almost empty, so they weren't busy). We decided not to return, which is a shame because the choice of restaurants within walking distance is very small.
We ordered pizza from blue bamboo - highly recommended and they delivered within 20 mins. Most of the time, we made full use of the kitchen, getting groceries from the local supermarket (London Way). It sells most things but there's limited choice. You can walk there (35 mins) or take a bike from the complex (10 mins).
We hired a car for 3 days with avis (organised by the complex) costing around 1400 Rs a day. Went round the west coast (a must-see), visited Vanille animal reserve (amazing), the Rum factory, and the tea factory are all worth seeing.
Going back to the apartment, I highly recommend it and we would certainly going back if we return to Mauritius. It's totally peaceful, beautiful and private. -

We stayed in a 1st floor apartment for 3 nights and it was truly fantastic. The bookings team are immensely helpful, the onsite team are enthusiastic if a little keen on rules, and the property was exactly as described ... Stunning.
The location is utterly wonderful. The apartment had everything we could have wanted. The pool is warm (salt water, but still lovely). The beach is divine. And the sun shone the whole time we were there. What more could you ask for?!
My only issue was that we were on the 1st floor which meant that the children weren't able to run in and out of the apartment, and we weren't given any choice when we made the booking. Also, they had a rule about not using the pool between 2-5pm, which was nonsense (so we ignored it). Otherwise, perfect. Book it!!! -

Left on 05/11/2012 for a stay in May 2012
I seldom stayed in self-catering accommodation but the beautiful location of Paradise Beach apartments attracted me to stay here.
The view from my 4 bedroom penthouse suite was breath-taking. The beach was one of the best I saw in Mauritius -- long white sandy beach, turquoise sea, view of Ile aux aigrettes island in the distance. I happily spent hours sitting on the rooftop terrace admiring the beautiful view. As the area was residential, the beach was quiet with occasional water activities such as parasailing and canoeing.Water was shallow in this area particulary during low-tides, perfectly safe for swimming.
My penthouse apartment was huge, comfortable and private. Good air-conditioning, walk-in showers and wifi connection. There were full cooking facilities in the kitchen for those who wanted to cook their own meals. I opted to prepare sandwiches and snacks for lunch and eat out in local restaurants in the evening. A few restaurants arranged taxi to pick me up or they would deliver food to the apartment. It was also easy to go to local supermarkets to stock up drinks/food.
Service arrangement was excellent. A lot of thanks to Maryann, on-site manager who assisted in every aspect to make my stay enjoyable.Response from Horizon Holidays - 05/16/2012

Dear Mr. Ho,
Thank you very much for reviewing our Horizon property - Paradise Beach so positively. Indeed only a minority of travelers consider a serviced apartment for their Mauritius holiday, but this option is becoming increasingly attractive with seasoned travelers who tend to prefer independence. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the Penthouse and our personal approach - it is our ultimate property in Mauritius!
We sincerely hope that we will see you again in one of our properties on the island, at which time I would hope to meet you in person. Mauritius truly is a place to discover over time and I have a few great personal recommendations!
Have an amazing day.

belle plage
dommage que la piscine soit à l'arrière des bâtiments, sans vue, et ne puisse être utilisée l'après-midi pour le confort des habitants -

Great holiday rental, really lovely quality of apartment (March 2012) with good sized bedrooms and all ensuite. Our ground floor apartment had a lovely decked area and led straight down to the beach which is perfect if you're travelling with small children. Local restaurants deliver and there is a private bbq facility so eating in is very do-able. The only downside is that while the location is beautiful and conveniently near the airport, there isn't a huge amount to do in the local area. If you / your family are into watersports, or happy to potter on the beach then it's perfect but if you need entertainment sources then you're looking at an hour's drive to most places. Overall I'd definitely recommend this as long as you're not looking for too much going on!

Paradise Beach is a small collection of apartments in 2 blocks with a shared swimming pool. In each of the 2 blocks there are 2 apartments on the ground floor, 2 on the first floor and then the penthouse is on the top floor. The apartments (they all sleep 6) are excellent, the ground floor ones have a slightly larger balcony. But the penthouse...words almost fail me. They are huge, a full dining table for 8 indoor and then another on the decking at the front outside, plus a setteee and easy chairs and 2 sun beds and still enough space to hold a dance. And there is another deck at the back overlooking the pool, with even more comfy outdoor seating. We were 2 couples travelling together and we could have easily fitted into one of the apartments, but I am so pleased that we had a penthouse.
The complex is right on the beach (all of the apartments and penthouses overlook the beach), and this really is some beach. It is soft almost white sand and shelves gently into a turquoise sea, the swimming is safe, protected by the reef. Gentle breeze come in from the sea.
The location is easy to reach, 15 minutes or so from the airport and another 10 mintues to Mahebourg and less than 10 to Blue Bay.
But what makes this so special are the apartments themselves. No expense has been spared in their design, decoration and furnishings. All of the kitchen appliances are top end and exceptionally equipped. Everything from the gardens, to the pool, to the tvs, to the decking, to the huge amounts of outdoor furnture is of the highest quality. It felt like staying is the best designer hotel with acres of space and total freedom. Added to this, the staff were wonderful. There is a manager on site who is helpful and informative. But it was the little things that really took the holiday to the next level...free wifi, excellent welcome pack, fresh bread delivered each morning, restaurants that come and collect you and who will also deliver to you.
Mauritius is a wonderful island but Paradise Beach really cannot be faulted in any way. I cannot wait to go back. If you are looking for luxury but want a bit more freedom and don't want to stay in one of the huge resort hotels then this is the place for you. -

We stayed in the penthouse B5 which overlooks the beach and is on the second floor. Fabulous views, lots of space and sitting and eating areas and beautifully appointed furnishings and fittings. Free wifi, English plugs, free bread delivered every morning and daily maid service. The pool is at the back of the property. There are sun beds on the beach for each apartment. Lots of watersports on offer for a charge, plus bikes to hire if you have the inclination. The beach is safe, gently shelving and in the distance you can see the reef. A stunning place to stay, the location and apartment alone make it paradise. You needn't go anywhere else.
