SpokaneBeautiful Location on Po'ipu
Left on 02/17/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We recently spent 16 nights in this condo. The location and proximity to the ocean are unsurpassed which makes for awe-inspiring sunsets and sunrises. The ocean side bedroom, however, got very warm despite following all the directives to keep it cool. We did try turning on the a/c to cool it down but the noise it made outside was way too loud and we didn't want to be disruptive to those who might be enjoying the evening on their lanai.
Fyi-if you are planning on eating in, you need to buy everything you'll need, right down to the salt and pepper! Housekeeping takes anything left behind from previous guests. While the kitchen is well stocked, I was disappointed not to have the following: Placemats, bar rags, linen/cotton dish towels, cleaner for the counters and a set of clean sheets for the bed. At first I thought I was being too picky about this stuff until I talked with another guest who voiced the sames issues.
While the basics in the condo were clean, it was definitely in need of a really good deep cleaning. We let the cleaning service come in early on the day we left so I know they don't change out the mattress pads on the beds.
If you do plan on cooking, get fresh fish from the Kola Fish market--the day's fresh catch is usually there by 10 am. Go too late in the afternoon and they may be cleaned out. They are closed on Sunday. Take advantage of the Sunshine Markets. We found the one at Po'ipu Plaza on Wednesday at 4 pm to be the best. And the Living Food Market & Cafe is hands down the best place for food and take-out in the area--also located in the plaza.Response from Lynn Hufschmid - 02/23/2012

Thank you very much for your review and input. We always appreciate any and all reviews. They are helpful to us as we do strive to please each and every guest!
Had you contacted me while still on island, we would have resolved each and every issue to your satisfaction! We do not tolerate deferred maintenance.
Our kitchen was stocked full of seasonings less than one month ago. It is impossible to control what stays and what goes. Sometimes guests may forget the spices up at the BBQ stations.
Again, thank you for your review. We appreciate the time it took to write it and we will use this as an opportunity to fine tune what we feel is a first class, fantastic condo. Mahalo, Lynn -

ArizonaGreat Condo and Great Location
Left on 10/18/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We stayed here for five nights at the end of September and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
The condo is exactly as described in the other Tripadvisor reviews, and does merit it's five star rating. If you are not sure about how good condos can be, then you need to stay here. We thought the price was very fair for the location, size, and quality of the condo. The pictures of the condo on the web sites do really reflect what it is.
The location is south facing unobstructed ocean front. We spent every morning drinking coffee on the patio and watching sunrises, and evenings drinking wine and watching sunsets. All this to the sound of waves crashing against the rocks about 15' below.
The pool entrance is about 15' away, and built right into the rocks overlooking the ocean. The pool itself is about 20' x 30' in size, tiled, slopes from 3' to 7' deep, and is clean and well maintained. There are 4 tables / chairs with fabric umbrellas, and at least a dozen chaise lounges to lay in. Occasionally there might be between one and three couples at the pool, but many times we had it to ourselves. The other guests always seemed to be young to middle age, but always pretty mellow. The green sea turtles frequent the surf right below and are fun to watch. If you want to go to a sandy beach, there is a large nice one about a five minute walk away.
The first bedroom is next to the living room and ocean front. Lynn installed an air conditioner in the bedroom, so you have the option of listening to surf, or using a/C. The king size bed has a fabulous mattress! The bathroom has a large vanity and shower.
There is a washer and dryer in the condo, and Lynn supplies beach towels.
The kitchen is very well equipped. If you want to make a meal, you'll have all the utensils, pans, and appliances you'd normally have at home. Bring your own spices and ingredients, and you'll be ready to cook. We didn't do any cooking ourselves, but there is a Costco on the south side of Lihue, and a good grocery store in Koloa (across from the gas station). There are two stainless steel, natural gas BBQ grills in the common area that look very nice, and seemed to get regular use.
In closing, I'd like to say that the owner / manager Lynn was very responsive to our questions, and great to work with. We'd stay here again. -

MichiganGreat location for a wonderful vacation
Left on 08/06/2011 for a stay in April 2011
This place was the cat meow, 30 feet from the ocean, 20 feet from the pool and sun every day. We look forward to going back. The nice thing about Kauai is there are only 90 miles of main roads to get to all areas of the island. From the condo Wieama caynon is 25 to 20 miles only to start the 19 mile drive to the top so start early in the morning as the clouds come in between 9 and 10 am and it couls be a wait before they break away for great views. If you are planning on seeing the Napali coast do it from the north shore Hanalie there is a power cat that takes you right into the sea caves unbeleveable it is a little pricey $160 per person but well worth it. The snorkeling is so so on Kauai so don't be disappointed and take a trip to Hawaii for that. Also you can rent a kayak at Kauai kayaks for $62 for 24 hours so rent it in the afternoon on the first day and go back in the morning to get the rest of your time in. Hanalie bay is a wonderful place to go and spend the afternoon and morning riding the waves and just exploring the bay just be sure to look out for the rogue waves that come in unexpectedly to catch you off guard and always look at the water to see how it is moving. I took the wife out for the first time in a sea kayak and she just loved it. Pleanty of palces to eat and if you have a costco card you will want yo go there for your food purchases or I think it is Loves Foods to cut down on your foof budget as everything in Hawaii is approximately 25 to 35 % more.

PittsburghAn amazing place to come home to
Left on 08/02/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We absolutely are loving this rental. It is not only very comfortable for our family but the view can't be beat. We haven't even finished our vacation and I was so anxious to write a favorable review that I set aside time a day before we leave. Poipu shores is a great location to be able to do things on both sides of the island. The few times I had questions about the condo before we left the owners were quick to get back to us and addressed our concerns in a warm and friendly manner. Our favorite activity has become sitting by the pool which is right by the condo, after a long day of touring paradise, and then watching the sunset on our lawn. Each night the sky offers a different show which never ceases to amaze. We have begun to prepare simple dinners at the condo so we will be here for the sunsets. It is gratifying to know that a place like this exists in our world and the only downside is that our backyard at home will be difficult to return to.

San Diego, CaliforniaAbsolutely Fabulous vacation rental just steps from the ocean!!!
Left on 07/04/2011 for a stay in June 2011
My family and I just finished an 8-night stay here.
The owner was extremely responsive. The location was great just literally a few feet from the ocean. It was amazing falling asleep each night to the sounds of the crashing waves.
Ac in the bedroom was very strong and great!
Flat had everything we needed.Wi-Fi internet. Well stocked kitchen. Bbq grill outside for grilling.
The bathrooms were both marble and really comfortable with great water pressure and lots of hot water. The hot water heater was big and we never had problems with hot water. One of the best things was the location because it was right on the ground floor so if you wanted to go out to the pool you could and it was a few feet away! The pool was great and we used it a few times. It's so amazing because we saw gigantic turtles swimming overlooking the ocean from the pool.
Also, the first day we saw a group of Dolphin swimming in the distance. It was amazing!
There were plenty of towels and beach towels and she even had a portable baby crib for us to use. The best thing is Lynn was so available. She called to make sure we got in ok and she also helped us arrange tours and beach gear and umbrellas. The company she uses is great and even printed out our tickets the last day when we returned our gear. I'd highly recommend her apartment. She is really amazing to deal with and the property is great. 5 Stars!
There was always plenty of parking in the parking lot and there is an elevator in the building. The location was excellent. I really love Poipu as it's sunnier on that side of the island. We went to the North side a few times but several times it was always raining there or very cloudy.
The property is just 5 minute drive to Poipu Beach which was one of our favorites and you're close to great restaurants like Roy's, Merrimans, Josselines, and many other great places.
We couldn't have had a better experience and I'd highly recommend this rental to anyone going to Kauai.

Awesome ocean view from all angles including the master bedroom. Literally steps away from the ocean and the pool. Watching the whales, dolphins and turtles from the lanai was great. Sunsets from the lanai were spectacular.
We really enjoyed the spacious rooms in this condo. Amenitites were very good. We used the propane bbq several times during our stay.
This condo will be at the top of our list during our next visit to Kauai.

Beaverton, ORAwesome Kauai Get-A-Way!
Left on 02/11/2010 for a stay in October 2009
I spent several days languishing in the sun and watching the ocean waves crash on the rocks just feet in front of the living room, not to mention turtles swimming in the nearby inlet, right outside the pool area! The condo/home is only 10 paces from the pool and large deck area, where we swam and enjoyed appetizers and watched the glorious sunsets! This condo in the Poipu Beach area has all the amenities to just "stay in", as well as walking paths to enjoy right out the door for a venture to a fun beach or lunch/dinner outing. A great home away from home!

Bellville, TexasPerfection in Kaua'i
Left on 02/10/2010 for a stay in June 2009
We first stayed at this beautifully-appointed, highly comfortable condo in June 2008 and liked it so much that we brought our family for a return stay in June 2009. In fact, we've already booked this unit for June 2010 and keep adding on more days with each vacation stay!
The owner is wonderful and accomodating, lending to an easy, blissful time for focus on family, fun, rest and exploration. Perfectly located on the southern tip of Poipu, we happily enjoyed this location as a base for trips to Waimea Canyon, the North Shore and all points around Kaua'i.
Of course, relaxation is always an option when not engaged in our more adventurous jaunts and we loved having the swimming pool and ocean surf mere steps away from our patio. The sounds of the waves crashing outside are perfectly soothing and, though air conditioning is available, we never even needed it with the gently cooling off-shore breezes wafting in.
It's also nice to have a family-oriented facility that includes a full kitchen and outside BBQ for preparing our own meals whenever the mood strikes or when we simply choose not to go out to a high-priced restaurant every day. Comfortable bedrooms, two baths and our own laundry provide all the conveniences we desire after having frequented many big, impersonal mega-resorts found everywhere else.
We just love the idea of renting directly from the owners, establishing a nice rapport in advance of our vacation and for plain 'ol settling in with my family of five. This condo deserves our highest recommendation as long-time world travelers who've found a second home on Kaua'i. I'm delighted to be able to share and recommend this glorious opportunity with any others looking for something more than high-rise hotels typically lacking the full amenities of Poipu 101A. -

This condo is the best located in Poipu! Also, being next to the pool is ideal. The owners keep the condo well maintained, updated and clean.
We can’t wait to go back and definitely will. We could not have had a nicer place to call “home” while we were away from home.
Lynn is very helpful and makes the process very smooth.

Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in March 2009
My husband and I have been coming to Poipu Shores 101A, owned by Lynn Hufschmid, for 6 years. The highlight of our year is the vacation in Hawaii in this great condominium. The accomodations are just what we need, the setting could not be more beautiful, and the owners are exceedingly pleasant and accommodating. The setting, right on the shores of Poipu, with waves crashing over lava cliffs, with the spectacular sunsets cannot be surpassed. The condo is comfortable, the breeze inviting and peaceful. Ten steps away is a great swimming pool with a deck that has plenty of chairs and tables. From the lanai one can see whales, dolphins, and big sea turtles. We rarely go out to eat because we enjoy the setting so much and do not want to miss a beautiful sunset(and there are a number of fine restaurants around). What more can you ask for?? We plan on returning for many years to come. Also, there is great snorkeling just minutes away at Poipu Beach, and many other fun adventures within 30 minutes driving. Lynn is very nice and pleasant to work with. She responds immediately to email and one can call her anytime. Truely, we look forward to our two weeks here as THE paradise spot for us.

Left on 01/13/2010 for a stay in August 2007
My wife and I spent 7 amazing nights in this wonderful condo. We could not have been more pleased with its location in the complex (front and center), it's location on the Island, and its amenities that far exceeded our expectations. We traveled the whole Island and discovered that we were without a doubt staying at the most beautiful locale. We could walk to restaurants, the beach, or just stay and relax in our own little slice of heaven. Do not pass up an opportunity to stay in room 101A, without a doubt the best spot in Poipu.

Lake Arrowhead, CAPerfect spot for enjoying Kauai splendors!
Left on 01/13/2010 for a stay in June 2009
A week at this condo was paradise! The grounds, access to pool, available
barbecues, and condition of condo were just what we hoped for. Being able to
walk right out onto the ground level lanai and down to the pool were big
advantages. We ate almost every meal outside enjoying the pounding surf and
incredible ocean view. We spotted turtles and dolphins every day.
The condo was perfect for two couples and we found the furnishings very
comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped and everything was very clean.
The perfect spot for enjoying the splendors of Kauai! -

Left on 01/13/2010 for a stay in May 2008
Paradise found “Poipu Shores Condo 101A, Kauai .” Land at the airport in Lihue, stop at the grocery store for food and drink then go to your paradise and settle in. Don’t waste your time, like I did, driving to Hanalei or Waimea, the most beautiful spot is right at your condo. Just a few steps from the lanai is the freshwater pool, perched right over the ocean the waves crashing on the rocks, watch the sea turtles surf, take a dip in the pool to cool off. A few steps back to the lanai and watch dolphins jump and frolic in the rolling sea, look a little to the right and watch the most beautiful sunset ever. Brennecke beach just a short walk down the path from the condo, if you need a little snorkel time that is the place. Just a little farther is Waiohai and Poipu beach, both white sand beaches - great for swimming or surfing. This ground floor condo is fantastic, two master bedrooms with king-sized beds, one with A/C for those warm tropical nights. The kitchen is more than adequate, lots of room to cook gourmet meals or BBQ from several gas BBQs in the complex. Lynn, the condo owner is wonderful to deal with; she shares the joy of her condo like she is your best friend. Why would anyone want to vacation anywhere else? I cannot get that view of the green-green grass, lush bushes, palm trees and the bluest water and foamy white spray splashing up from the rocks out of my mind; oh I want to go back.
