The location was outstanding and the furnishings were perfect. We particularly enjoyed watching whales, surfers, and sea turtles from the Lanai as we enjoyed a glass of wine. It was convenient to several restaurants - particularly the Beach House that is a short walk away -and the beaches of Poipu.

We had the most wonderful time in your condo! It's as beautiful as your pictures indicate. We hope to stay in your unit again! It's close to just about everything! You can't beat the view! The condo is clean, looks newly updated with lovely island decor and fully equiped with all necessary ammenities.
We loved the dazzling ocean views, sunsets, watching turtles and surfers and the fantastic snorkeling at the small beach adjacent to The Beach House restaurant.
The Kukui'ula shopping center is great with wonderful restaurants and shops, farmers market. Delicious food at the Living Foods Market(groceries and cafe), excellent place for breakfast and lunch! Kauai is our favorite place to vacation. Now we have our favorite place to stay while there. Imagine early mornings on the patio, steps from the ocean, watching sea turtles and surfers and evenings watching the sunset with the neighbors. The beach(swim and snorkle)is a one minute walk away. The condo is nicely decorated, comfortable, and well appointed. We really appreciated the nice surprise in the frig after a long day spent traveling to Kauai. Thanks John and Janis! We cannot wait to return.

My husband and I just returned from Kauai. We spent 3 nights in John's Kuhio Shores #113 condo. It was perfect for us. John was very easy to work with and gave us great recommendations. The condo had everything we needed for our vacation. You can't beat the view or the location.

The condo was exactly like the photos- beautiful, modern, very well-equipped, clean and comfortable. We felt "at home". The view was wonderful - sound of the ocean crashing on the rocks, sea turtles bobbing in the waves,a school of dolphins playing where the water is deeper and surfers aplenty. Add a sailboat sailing into a beautiful tropical sunset and you can see why we didn't want to come home. A great way to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Mahalo!

Our 3 week stay beginning 2/22/12 was our best trip yet to Kauai. The website pictures of this unit don't do it justice. The ocean view from the patio, one of the best on the island, is incredible with plenty of action from the whales, turtles, surfers and snorkelers. We will stay here again on our next trip to Kauai.

We stayed at Kuhio Shores #113 this past Jan/Feb 2012 for our anniversary. The condo was fantastic and we have already booked another stay. The sea is literally right outside your door. We walked up and down the property and decided that #113 was situated in the best spot in the building (and the island!). Since we visited during winter, we watched the whales right from the lanai. Very fun searching them out! The condo itself was beautiful and well appointed with many nice litte touches. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. The condo was also stocked with snorkeling equipment, beach equipment - really anything and everything we needed. In all our driving around the island, we did not see anything better. You cannot go wrong staying at Kuhio Shores #113! Beats a resort any day!

We couldn't have asked for better accommodation during our recent visit to Kauai. From watching the turtles while having a morning cup of coffee to watching dolphins and surfers in the late afternoon the view from this condo is spectacular. The condo is beautifully decorated and well-equipped and very comfortable and literally steps from the water. This condo is ground level so you can walk right out. The grounds are well-kept and it is in a great location. Our friends are planning a trip to Kauai in the near future and I told them they had to stay at this condo and after I showed them all of our photos, they couldn't agree more. I can't wait to visit again.

We stayed at Kuhio Shores apt 113 for our honeymoon. The condo was immaculate and the owners have very nice taste. The condo was remodeled beautifully. The location was fantastic right on the water with beautiful views of the sunset, while also being conveniently location near a lot of restaurants.

We cannot say enough about this beautiful condo and its owners. It is immaculately clean, newly remodeled, and John and Janis were a dream to work with - very responsive and accommodating. The bed is the most comfortable we've ever slept in. It is pure heaven. The grounds are well cared for, and the location is the best you could ever want. We saw turtles and surfers outside our lanai door every day. We loved having the in-room safe, which was large enough to hold our laptop, jewelry, cameras, wallets and everything of value we didn't want to take to the beach. The condo provides boogy boards, sand chairs, snorkel equipment and everything you need for the beach, including two coolers. It sure saved us a lot of money on renting equipment. The location is ideal. Lawai beach is a short walk next door, and Poipu Beach, which is great for snorkeling, is a short drive [maybe a mile?]. The restaurants in the area we liked are: Roy's, Plantation Garden Restaurant at the Kiahuna Plantation Resort [ask for a table on the lanai and order the pot roast!], the golf course club house at the Grand Hyatt [the pancakes are to die for], Tomkats in Old Koloa for fish and chips, and the kalua pork sandwich at Brennecke's is wonderful. You can snorkel at Poipu Beach, walk 100 yards, and you are at Brennecke's. You will love this condo!

This condo deserves every 5 star rating. I'm almost reticent to review, because I can't wait to get back and fear that the "secret" will be out and it won't be available! Yes, it's that fantastic.
I prefer to rent condos when traveling because of the convenience of a full kitchen and privacy, and this one tops all of my previous rentals (some of which have been great).
True facts: It is literally the closest to the ocean of any I saw on Kauai. The restaurant around the corner (The Beach House) really is that good. The turtles do put on a show for you right outside your lanai. And, not to be bested by turtles, the pro-caliber surfers also dazzle. (Though unless you're a pro-caliber surfer, I wouldn't chance the big stuff). The beach West of the condo does in fact have terrific snorkeling.
The condo was well-appointed and their design choices were excellent. The friendly fellow who maintains the place gave us some great tips on local sights which we enjoyed.
The owners went out of their way to be responsive, friendly, and make us want to stay in their place even before arrived, and we were ever-so-glad we did.
Yes, this review is gushing, but well-deserved. I hope the Zihlas will have availability next time we visit Kauai!

Stayed for a week at the start of October- the condo is fabulous and looks exactly like the photos- and the photos don't let you hear the ocean which is literally steps away. The condo has been remodeled and it immaculate. Big comfortable bed, view of the ocean, even from the bathroom. You can sleep with the sounds of the ocean and wake up to the sea turtles feeding in the morning. Everything is there- boogie boards, snorkels, fins, chairs, coffee maker, everything. The best restaurant is just steps away, the Beach House, and the local shopping center is a short walk to have breakfast, pick up groceries and do some shopping. The location is really perfect. After visiting a couple of the big resorts in the area you see how special the property is. The owners are very easy to deal with and even let us stay a little later in the day that we were checking out, very flexible. What else can I say- you will love this property, but I have to say one week here is not enough!

First of all, my wife and I have stayed in several condos in the Kuhio Shores complex since the mid 1980's.
Condo 113 is probably the most recent remodel and, as the owners do with their other units, spare no expense at "making it right". Bed is one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The other comments in the reviews are spot-on. The place is really nice.
This part of the complex is the closest to the ocean and, as the other reviews accurately say, is about 20 feet from the ocean edge.
Best beach access snorkeling on the island is right next door. Best surfing break, Pk's, is right outside your lanai door. Don't bother bringing your binoculars because they are in the unit, just under the new flat screen TV.
Just read the other reviews. There is not a lot to add. Just to be real: this complex does not have resort amenities like swimming pools, etc. But if you are into sunsets and the ocean being just outside your door, welcome the best amenity on the most beautiful Hawaiian Island.

My husband and I stayed at this awesome property in early Sept. 2011. We actually own rental properties in Southern VT so our expectations are very high. This condo was phenomenal!! It is truly oceanfront property. The water has to be less than 20 feet from your back door. Amazing!
The condo is extremely well equipped with all of the amenities you can imagine. It has been totally remodeled with the highest quality furnishings. My husband and I traveled around most of the island and didn't see any complex that would even come close Kuhio Shores and then add in the best condo unit in the complex and you have a great place to watch the surfers, watch the turtles and just sit back and relax. John and Jan have thought of everything from beach chairs, beach towels,beach coolers and even boogy boards. I would not hesitate to say that this place could very well be the best condo on south side of Kuaii.

The condo was absolutely wonderful and the vacation was so relaxing. The location right on the ocean was ideal with the constant breeze, a view of the surfers and the turtles. The unit was clean and upgraded and well organized and had everything we needed. The complex was well maintained and had good proximity to all things we wanted to do. We would have stayed another week but the unit was already rented. I would recommend this unit to any of our friends and want to stay there again in the near future. I had a wonderful time.

This place was awesome!. The location and views were over the top. Sea Turtles, surfers and snorkeling right outside your sliding glass door. The amenities were great. The King bed was very comfortable. The finishes were first rate. I would've loved a washer/dryer in the unit but that would be the only issue I had. The coin-op laundry room was about 25 feet away. Also, write up driving directions from the airport for after dark, for people who've never been to Poipu. Additionally, we arrived after 9 pm, quite hungry. Thought we'd easily find a place to eat but nothing was open. Thanks for letting us stay at your beautiful condo. It was the highlight of my son's summer. He broke his femur 3 days after we got back to Park City while training for aerials. So happy we took this trip together!

Not only was it right on the beach with an amazing view, the condo came with full kitchen supplies, snorkle gear, beach chairs, coolers, and just about everything we needed! This condo is very nice. The owner is a home builder who rennovated the condo to his own personal specifications, which gives it a very homey feeling. Everything I needed was provided, from beach towels to snorkel gear to a full kitchen. The furniture is high quality. It is not like the bamboo couches or white plastic patio junk found in other condos. This is more of a home than a vacation rental and was exactly what I was looking for. The ocean is so close to the lanai that I was counting sea turtles much of the time. I have stayed at several condos on Kauai and nothing has compared to ks#113. The owner (John) was very easy to work with and returned my emails and phonecalls very promptly. See you next year John. Mahalo!

From reservation to arrival our rental of #113 at Kuhio Shores was flawless, and the owners provided outstanding customer service from the day we booked and during our stay. #113 was very well appointed, immaculate, everything was brand new, and the condo provided snorkel gear and all the necessary beach accessories. We spent the 3rd week of our vacation, on the south shore of Kauai at #113, and this location was by far the best; 20 feet from the ocean and with one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island; sunshine from sunrise to sunset; walking distance to the "best" restaurants, beaches, grocery shops/shopping centers and the list goes on. We were so very comfortable and accessible to everything we wanted and needed, and we had excellent value. We will definitely return and hopefully sooner than later. This place is absolutely spectacular and breathtaking... There is no other location on Kauai like [Kuhio Shores] being so close to the water. The condo is equipped with everything you would need to call this place home. It was very clean and fresh and all the furnishings were new. The owners were very pleasant to communicate with which made booking this place a breeze. They showered us with aloha and made us feel very welcome. They even offered a 24 hour local phone number for on site assistance if any need or emergency arose. [peace that passes understanding] is what my wife and I experienced during our stay and we have already booked our return to [heaven on earth]

I cannot say how wonderful our stay was in Kuhio Shores Condo #113. Everything in the condo is in pristine condition and stylish. The flooring is high end, the kitchen, the bathroom and the furniture are perfect; even the cookware is new. And there is snorkel gear, beach chairs, and boogie boards. to use, which our 7 year old loved. It is quite expensive to rent snorkel gear, so this is a nice bonus. It is designed to allow the ocean breeze into the condo, and with the fans in every room, the temperature is just right. I am very picky, and I thought everything was great, including the fact that the rest of the complex is in great shape, and doesn't appear dated at all. It was a quiet complex also, not too large, and in a great location near all of the great beaches, restaurants and shopping in Poipu. If you are looking for a one bedroom condo, this is perfect, and the price is good also. The photos online do not even show how nice this place is!

Wow....where to begin....This condo is amazing, I could not believe how fortunate we were to find this place. Immaculate and brand new...everything was here that we needed...and right on the ocean....literally on the beach. Best views and location for sure in the building.
We had snorkeling gear, boogie boards, beach chairs everything you could think of or need was there for us. John is a pleasure to deal with, very professional and made sure we were comfortable from the day we checked in. Rebooked for next November 21 days stay...that says it all.

We loved our stay at Kuhio Shores #113. This unit is wonderfully appointed, has virtually everything you might need, and is literally 10 steps from the surf. We slept each night with the sound of the waves and woke each morning with the brilliant blue waters filling our wall of windows. Great vantage point for one of the hot surfing spots on the south shore, beach and snorkeling right around the corner, and green turtles swimming right outside our door. This is a ground level unit, which worked great for us - so easy to step right outside and into the sun, and the few people that walk by are respectful of everyone's privacy. We really appreciated the care and thoughtfulness that John put into preparing this terrific unit, and John made the entire process connecting and renting easy. I would recommend this unit to anyone, and we are planning to return.

I have never left a review for anything before but this is something really special. This condo was perfect in every way...right on the ocean front at Kuhio Shores. I can't stop looking at the pictures of our vacation. John and Janis are two of the nicest folks I have ever done business with...fast, efficient, and exactly as represented...and more. We rebooked for next year...and can't wait to get there. As beautiful as they look in the photograph, they do not even come close to doing this place justice. It is spectacular and I absolutely guarantee it will be even better than you expected. I wish we could buy it...seriously.

This place is the best, my family and I enjoyed every minute of our stay. The place was immaculate; very clean, well decorated, comfortable, and very cozy. One can hear the waves in the master bedroom and get completely relaxed. The location is great, a few steps away from the beach, literally. We had the best experience since the booking of the apartment; Mr. Zihla was very helpful and provided us with many local tips to increase the enjoyment of our stay. This vacation was worth every penny, I completely recommend it.

What a great location. If I were any closer to the ocean, I would need gills. Best snorkeling right out the sliding glass door along with endless turtles, whales and stunning sunsets. Located right in the heart of Poipu with all kinds of things to do both east and west. Condo is beautiful with no issues at all. A great home away from home. We will be coming back.

This is an amazing condo for your getaway to Paradise. The pictures don't even do it justice! It is beautifully furnished and upgraded with the most wonderful touches. We really enjoyed the oceanfront view, so close you hear the waves pounding all night. We watched turtles up close, just outside the condo and swam with them while snorkeling at the nearby beach. This was the perfect vacation spot!

100% Absolutely Perfect!
I travel a lot with my parents who have a small 1 bedroom home on Kauai and I always stay at other rental condos, close by but not too close.
In the past I have had the misfortune of renting other vacation homes that unfortunately didn't look anything like the web sites or the management companies descriptions. It hasn't happened often, but even once is too much in my opinion.
This property is the exception. The condo was just as the Owners advertised", 100%. No surprises or disappointments.
The location is to die for, ocean front, peaceful & quiet [ except those darn waves crashing ] . . . just kidding even the sound of the waves was perfect. I spent most of my time lounging around on the patio reading, and working on my first novel. When not reading or writing I merely laid back and enjoyed the views, listened to the surf and did what everyone on vacation should try to do once in awhile, relax!
The Owners were very accommodating with my last minute request. The condo was very clean and well stocked with towels, linens and kitchen supplies.
Would I stay here again, absolutely 100%.
This is the perfect place for someone needing to disappear and enjoy life, or for a romantic Honeymoon, or maybe the young at heart on their anniversary.
I look forward to my next trip to Kauai, with or without my parents, and will be praying that John and Jan have room for me again.

I am almost at a loss for words to describe how wonderful our trip and stay in Kuhio Shores was. In my wife's exact words, "it exceeded my expectations.? In fact, she is convinced that there is no better place in Kauai, or even the world that could match the amenities and spectacular view of your condo. What a lovely time we had. You hear the expression "jaw-dropping? but don't personally experience it often. However, that is exactly what happened to both of us, as weary from our long flight, we unlocked the door and were faced with the most spectacular view imaginable. What a great remodeling job and we loved the bedside ocean views which are memories etched in our minds forever. We knew from that moment that we were going to have a wonderful time and we did!!
We sat on our lanai, watching the surfers, enjoying the sunset and toasted our anniversary. . . Kauai was the perfect island for us and because we left some things still on our "to-do? list, we are considering a return trip and would definitely love to stay with you again.
