The views and sounds of the surf were wonderful. Almost daily, we enjoyed watching sea turtles from our lanai. All of the scheduled activities, such as snorkeling, helicopter tour, and fishing were easily accessed from Poipu, and it's central location allowed us to efficiently explore all areas of the island. We felt like we were at home, so much more appealing than the big parking lots at the large resorts.

It was going from a 5 star in Princeville to a two star. The location was okay not far from the beach- but the unit was rather dingie looking. I really did not like the noise/ you could hear everthing/ and everyone beings that the walkway is on the side of the bedroom. The master bedroom was also very noisey with the ocean crashing. Perhaps if I did not stay in such a nice unit in Princeville I'd not have such a harsh opinion but all in all this unit is not very nice- especially for the price!

The condo was perfect. The managing agency very nice and responsive. We had a great time. The area is very upmarket. its not inexpensive but it is very lovely.

We were very pleased with the way the condo was outfitted and cleaned. We have been renting beach houses and condos for 20 years and this one was the cleanest and best equipped so far. Everything we needed was there except for boogie boards and chairs. But we were able to rent them from great vacation retreats at a very reasonable rate.
Great vacation retreats was fabulous to work with. They brought us fans when we were too hot and fixed a few minor things. But mostly they were so pleasant to talk to and gave us great suggestions on things to do.
Our only complaint was it was much hotter than we expected in October. We learned to shut all the drapes in the late afternoon when the sun shone directly in. Great vacation retreats brought over many fans which helped a lot. But the bedroom didn't get the cross breeze that the rest of the unit got. So we were a bit uncomfortable sleeping. But the rest of the condo cooled down nicely.
This unit is right next to a blow hole, so sleeping with the windows open wasn't an option for us. Just as we would drift off, we'd hear a big crash as the ocean came up through the rocks. We wished we had a volume control or a mute button! But it was magnificent in the day time. -

I think that the unit could use a new front door and a new sliding patio door with screen. The balcony could use a bit more cleaning attention.and perhaps the addition of a private grille. Otherwise the unit was absolutely beautiful. We did not take advantage of the pool on the premises as we were more interested in visiting the many beautiful beaches on Kauai.The sunset views from the balcony were awesome and the surf crashing on the rocks beneath our bedroom window peacefully lulled us to sleep each night. I think that the exterior of the buildings could use a facelift in order to compete with the properties that are close by.

I do believe that painting is in the plans soon for the exterior of Poipu Shores and possibly the doors. Unfortunately private grills are not allowed on lanais at any of the condos due to fire concerns.
