Living and Dining

It will be hard to shift your eyes from the mesmerizing ocean drama from the lanai, but there is a 42" flat screen plasma TV if you need to confirm that the other world still exists. Plug in your own tunes on the Sony home theater and know that life is good. Of course, free wireless internet for your use. Dining in is easy, comfortable and the views are far better than most restaurants. The gas BBQ grills make that fresh island catch even more tasty.

Chef Kitchen

The rich African Mahogany cabinets are artwork alone, but with the addition of dramatic granite and the fully equipped kitchen, cooking while on vacation is an enjoyable experience! Quality GE Profile appliances are top of the line. Your morning tea, coffee or juice never tasted so good while sitting on the lanai enjoying dolphins, giant sea turtles and (in season) the humpback whale migration. The second bedroom has twin carved teak beds. The bathroom is large and accommodating, with the helpful addition of a GE high efficiency full sized washer and dryer. The flat screen TV allows for privacy for all. Bring your DVD's for this TV to keep the kids entertained. The garden area off this bedroom is your tropical rainforest. Birds sing and the trade winds carry through your room like a tropical balm.

Poipu Shores Resort is just 300 yards East of World Famous Poipu Beach Park with surfing, baby beach, snorkeling, body surfing and plain old tanning on the sand. We are about 1 mile west of the Kauai Grand Hyatt and have many guests who are attending convetions, wedding or other gatherings staying with us. Many ocean tours, whale watching, sunset cruises and eco and scuba tours leave from Kukuiula Harbor, less than 4 miles west. The south shore National Tropical Botanical Garden is just past the harbor. For golf you have Poipu Bay, Kiahuna and the brand new and very exclusive Kukuiula Golf Club. And that is all within 4 miles. Many, many other famous courses dot the island. To the West side about 25 miles is the junction to Waimea Canyon / Kalalau Overlook and the beautiful endless sands beaches leading up to Polihale State Park at the end of the road.   Very nice condo, right on the ocean. Furnishings and décor in condo are very nice and fit for Hawaii. We had most everything we needed right there - towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, cooler. The boys loved the movie selection (lots of James Bond) for their personal TV in their room. Although the condo is a little small, they tried to take advantage of the storage options available. There is not much closet space - but you don't need many clothes for the beach. We saw whales and turtles every day right from the lanai and the sunsets were awesome. Poipu is a great location as it was a little rainy in other parts of the island, but for the most part, Poipu was sunny. We really liked Poipu Beach just a short walk away where we learned to paddle board and snorkeled almost every day. Highly recommend!

  Poipu Shores is one of the best located condos in the Poipu area with gorgeous ocean views and just a short stroll to Poipu Beach Park and Brenneke's. This particular unit #303a is beautifully decorated. The only problem that our family had is that there is very little storage. We stayed almost 2 weeks, and so did alot of our own cooking. There was no kitchen storage for grocery items. The bedroom closets were full of "stuff" leaving us very little space for unpacking our clothes and getting organized. For shorter stays, this might not be an issue.

  March, 2013 was our second stay at Poipu Shores, and our return trip did not disappoint. We stayed in both units 303a and 305a during this trip, and they were fantastic. Best part - sleeping with the windows open to hear the pounding surf just below all night - wow! The units are extremely well maintained and have everything you need to enjoy your stay. We especially enjoyed eating a casual breakfast on the lanai while watching the whales and sea turtles. We will be back again!

  Once again we enjoyed Poipu Shores courtesy of Patricia Bien and her incredible condo! We have stayed in 206a in the past and love it too. 303a seems larger with incredible upgrades and views of the ocean. There is no other place to stay in Kauai, particularly with so many turtles just a stone throw away from patio and pool area. Another benefit is location to beaches and other properties like the Grand Hyatt and restaurants--all walkable! We love this place and will return in the future!!!

  A slice of paradise

  This is the second time we've stayed at Poipu Shores and we love it there. This condo is beautifully remodeled, comfortable and well equipped.
  I don't think you can find a better location, the waves are crashing into the coves so close they hypnotize and relax you instantly. Watch lots of turtles surf every afternoon, a quick walk to the beach, followed by a stunning sunset to watch from the deck or master bedroom. Was comfortable even for a family of 4 with grown children. We will be back.
  The condo complex itself is older but well maintained and this is a great remodel. I don't think they would ever let developers build this close to a beautiful, rugged coast again, this place is unique. In contrast you can find newer condo complexes complete with gyms and some additional amenities, but you will be several hundreds of yards from the ocean with a walk and a distant view. At this location, the waves are crashing maybe 50 or 100 yards away, and it's even kinda loud at times - a view that the private multi-million dollar villas have is yours.

  We love that you appreciated all the upgrades and the extreme oceanfront location. You are right, this is one of the last great best places built on Kauai. Staying in a condo that is ocean view just does not allow for the full oceanfront experience and the magic that Kauai offers. I have been known to tell the ocean to quiet down, or maybe I should just listen, something most of us don't usually get a chance to do.
  
  We look forward to hosting you for your next visit to Kauai and Poipu Shores, now that you know the difference. Who needs a gym and fancy pools when you have the ocean and the great outdoors to enjoy. As the owner says "Paradise is also outside this door."
