Poipu Sands is located on over seven acres next door to the Grand Hyatt Kauai. These vacation rentals in sunny Poipu boast expansive green areas with tropical landscaping providing you with a large open grassy space and a carefree, beach resort lifestyle while relaxing in your spacious condo. Poipu Sands and the Grand Hyatt share a gateway to the Poipu Kai greenbelt giving everyone easy access to Shipwreck Beach (Keoneloa Bay) on one end and Poipu and Brennecke's beaches on the other.
Poipu Sands has its own swimming pool and tennis court as well as use of the Poipu Kai community swimming pool, hot tub and tennis courts. A thriving, friendly tennis community at Poipu Kai welcomes Kauai's visitors with open arms. Several barbeque areas with comfortable sitting areas are throughout the Poipu Sands' grounds.
Stroll down to Shipwreck Beach and watch the sunrise or climb the Mahaulepu Coastal Trail, which begins just beyond the beach. This trail is a special part of the Kauai History Heritage site and the last stretch of accessible coastline on the South Shore that has not been developed. This wonderful coastal hike takes you across a variety of terrain, from small sand dunes to sandstone pinnacles and even a sinkhole cave. The area provides a safe haven for marine life, such as sea turtles and the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal. The trail leads to beautiful Mahaulepu Beach, a great place to spot whales in the winter or observe (from a distance) a monk seal napping on the beach.
Next door to the Sands, you can wander around the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa's lush tropical gardens or indulge in a reviving treatment at the world-class Anara Spa. This lovely setting lets you easily explore the natural wonders of our Garden Isle of Kauai, as well as dine at several delightful restaurants or enjoy the galleries and shops. Treat yourself to one of Kauai's best luaus, featuring authentic dance, events and cuisine.
On the opposite side of the Hyatt, only a ten-minute walk away, is the world famous Poipu Bay Golf Course situated on 210 oceanfront acres. Challenging at all levels of play and yet fun for the novice as well, Poipu Bay hosted the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 1994-2006.
Kauai's Poipu Sands is an ideal location for a memorable holiday experience!

Great location, walking distance to one beach, short drive to others.
The condo was well equipped, just some utensils could use an upgrade.
The internet was on the slow side and somewhat erratic.
Otherwise we were happy with this selection and we would recommend this place for anyone looking for quiet and relaxing place.
Did not get a free car with our rental.(high season)

Condo was exactly as described in write-up. Location was great for walks and amenities. Condo was quiet and private - great place for a relaxing vacation.
An outdoor hot tub would be an added feature to the complex.

Loved the upstair bedroom with private balcony...a must when traveling with family. We were able to get up a bit earlier than the kids & sit outside without making it known we were up. Roomy & clean...eating out is very costly, the kitchen was greatly used.
Would stay again...just a bit far from a swimming beach.

We loved staying here. The condo is spacious and well maintained, and in a nice area. Nice ocean views, a great lawn, tall palm trees and swimming pool. I loved the art, the video and book collection. It was quiet and you could hear the ocean at night. Great master bedroom upstairs with a private deck, and the downstairs lanai is big enough to have dinner for 8.
Poipu Beach is a great area of Kauai, and there are many high quality restaurants nearby. Food shopping is a longer drive, although a small natural foods store opened by. Don't bother shopping at Big Save, the food there is the quality of what comes out of a vending machine.
The kitchen is not very well equipped, the knives were few and dull. Just a few dented pots. We ended up buying knives. Also, there were no spices other than salt and pepper. So, if you're planning on cooking, make sure you have what you need first.
While we were there, we saw whales not far off the coast, and sea lions were on the beach. Kauai is a great island, it's small, and Poipu is centrally located.

The condo was clean, very roomy. Loved the lanai's. There was a starter tote bag of; coffee packets 2, dish soap, toilet paper(2 rolls), laundry soap 2 small packets, bounce sheets 2 small packets, kelnex boxes 2, dishwasher soap when we arrived. No need to buy hand soap, body soap, shampoo, body lotion, which there was plenty of. Plenty of dishes, wine glasses, glasses..
Would of gave this unit a 4 star if they had: if there were few more rolls of toilet paper. If there were beach items ie, cooler bag, ice freezer packets, mats (oppose to have to rent the beach items from Great Vacation Rental company.) Kitchen to replace frying pans, as the two there were scuffed up petty bad. Few staples such as, saran wrap, foil paper, olive oil, a spice rack form costco (cheap to buy).
Grounds: The grounds were well kept, staff always cleaning, pruning. Is like a resort setting.
Location: Walkable to Shipwreck Beach, quick drive to Poipu Beach. Quick drive to Koloa for groceries.
