I have rented homes and condos all over the world and I have to say this was the best condo we have stayed in in years. You must realize that Makahuena itself is a hit or miss place, meaning not all the condos are created equal. But this unit...Wow! Everything in it was newly renovated. Everything was clean and everything worked. The location is second to none on the island. It is directly on a cliff overlooking the arch, whales, dolphins, sunsets and sea turtles. The surf lulled us to sleep each night so there was no outside noise, although Makahuena seemed to be a sleeper community. Pretty mellow crowd who live there year round. If you are into Boogie Boarding Brennekes beach is a two minute drive, 1/2 mile away. We have 10 straight days of 4-10 foot faces on the waves there. Just awesome. Food recommendations. Imho, Tidepools is better than the Beach House. Favorite place...Tortilla Republic. Could be best Mexican we have ever had. Waiter Brian...what a hoot. Make sure he is there when you go. Mega thanks to Janice for renting this unit to us. By the way, two adult couples here...Perfect. But you will have to fight for the ocean front room.

Our 2 week October stay in this condo was amazing. The views from the lanai are spectacular and breath taking. Every day we watched the turtles swim in the cove below, which was very exciting. The accommodations were everything we'd expected and more. The home was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed for a nice time on the island, including beach chairs. This was my first time renting this condo, but it certainly won't be my last. Our family enjoyed ourselves so much, and can't wait to return. Mahalo!

From the moment you step through the door, you know your stay is going to be fabulous; and it certainly was! Immaculate, well-equipped, comfortable beyond words, gorgeous! The sea turtles and spinner dolphin were everywhere; the ocean sounds were both energizing and comforting. Views to die for! We absolutely loved every minute there!

Makahuena 203 is in an amazing location. Its a reasonable unit, with decent furniture and cookware. The lanai is to die for!

We've stayed at Makahuena 3-203 3 times now and it is truly paradise. The lanai overlooks a cove which is great for turtle watching or spotting whales (winter only). The condo is huge (around 1800 ft?) with high ceilings and beautifully decorated. The bathrooms have recently been remodeled and exquisitely tiled. One bathroom even has a hot tub. The sound of surging waves is a nice way to go to sleep each night. The unit provides every amenity one could possibly want. The only negative is the windows which show up as crystal clear on the website, but the surf and spray has taken its toll on them through no fault of the owner or Parrish. So plan on spending all of your time on the lanai like we do.
