My husband and I were fortunate enough to spend two relaxing weeks at the Lani Kai Cottage. The property was immaculate and the setting beautiful. I spent many afternoons just basking in the sunshine and watching surfing sea turtles. The cottage afforded my husband and I some much needed R & R. We took a long walk almost every morning - there are paved sidewalks and interesting places within walking distance - including a small breakfast place inside a natural food store, Spouting Horn park, a beautiful public garden and beaches. Kauai itself is so breathtaking - you feel like you are vacationing in a garden!!
The cottage had a large yard overlooking the ocean with three lanai's and plenty of places to sit and watch the beauty of it all. The cottage and yard are situated to feel very private.
The cottage itself was beautiful - every room (with the one exception of the second bedroom) overlooking the ocean with vast views. The beds were very comfortable - the rooms all furnished and decorated tastefully. We were glad that the yard offered a Weber grill as we like to grill in the evenings.
Krisite (from the Parrish Collection) met us upon our arrival and was very welcoming and helpful. She had lots of good suggestions for our stay and called/texted us to help with our planning or with any questions or problems. She was such a help!
We spent many days exploring Kauai - driving up the east and west coasts of the island. There were lots of good places to eat and explore along the way.
We hated to leave! My husband and I take one vacation a year together and this was, by far, one of our best and most memorable experiences.

    I don't write reviews.

The Lani Kai Cottage was more than advertised. From the minute that we arrived, until we left, everything was perfect. It is in a great part of the island and the pictures don't let you imagine how close to the water line you are. There are baby turtles playing in the surge, right off your porch (1 of 2) as you drink your coffee in the morning

We went there to dive, and I have to admit that the dive operation, the best on the island, was very, very, suboptimal.

Everything else was perfect. I would buy this property if it were for sale and I had much more money than I do.

    Wonderful property and great service

Left on 12/08/2011 for a stay in December 2011

This is a two-bedroom (both king beds) home directly on the water. I'm writing this on the Thursday of a Saturday-Saturday rental (just two of us), and we couldn't be happier. The place is spotlessly clean, airy, with a beautiful back lawn which goes to the breakwall. There are three tables and chairs in three different outdoor small rear decks, one of which is shady most of the day. In addition there are comfortable lawn chairs and a picnic table. The master bedroom and the living room have walls of windows which open to the sea, and the waves crash constantly. On a hot day the air conditioning works well. The small kitchen is adequate. We didn't use the second bedroom which does not have an ocean view. The furnishings are very comfortable, the wi-fi works very well, and the property is situated so that there is considerable privacy despite being fairly close to the neighbors. The added bonus is Kristie, from the rental agency, whose title is "Island Host"; she functions as the concierge would in a hotel. Kristie met us at the home as we arrived, showed us around, made great suggestions about places to go and things to do, and when we made decisions, she made reservations for us for the garden tour, for the helicopter ride and for dinner at a local cafe during art night at Hanapepe. All in all, we're having a great time here, and I must say that the photos on the web site are accurate!

Kristie was wonderful and helped us with all our needs to get around and find activities. The house was nice, but no access to the beach and not as clean as we would have expected:( But, all that aside, it was an enjoyable experience. Thank you all,we will be back.

This is our 3rd or 4th time renting Lani Kai and we absolutely love it! It's always well maintained, clean and nicely equipped. It's warm and inviting and has the best view and yard on the island! The folks at the Parrish collection are friendly and always a joy to work with. We will definitely be back next year if not sooner!

    Knock-out Place for two

Left on 09/10/2011 for a stay in May 2011

This property is directly oceanfront so you hear and see the waves everywhere in the house except the 2nd bedroom, which faces the roadway. No matter, it is still comfortable, too, with a large bed, a TV and a rocking chair. The 2nd bedroom has a private door to the front porch; you can quietly leave the home without disturbing others. It is connected to a full bathroom as well.

Another benefit to this house is the great room adjacent to the kitchen and dining area for TV, reading or just enjoying the ocean view. You can watch the cook in the kitchen and everyone can see the waves. We paid for personal massages at the home, and the massage therapist (a local) said, “That water really does come up close to the house doesn’t it? I’ve never seen that before.”

The house has air conditioning units throughout for those days when the trade winds aren't cooperating.

We found it hard to leave the house and go and do other things because the view alone of the water, especially at high tide, with the sea turtles jumping in and out of the waves, made us feel like we would miss out if we left. We had an aquarium right in our backyard!

The house is perfect for couples, or couples with one or two small children. It even has its own backyard covered in a beautiful carpet-like green grass, great for bare feet, complete with steps down a seawall to the rocks below.

My partner loved the soaking claw-foot tub in the master bedroom, which was great after a day of touring. Parrish provides the best soaps and shampoos, too, from a local organic manufacturer.

Spacious decks and a new gas grill for outdoor cooking complete the picture.

    Thank you Parrish Collection!

We would return here just to stay in the house and enjoy the million-dollar views, it’s that nice. Next time, I will go down the seawall steps and explore all the creatures you can see during low tide on the rocks/tide pools.

    The Best Ever

Left on 08/06/2011 for a stay in June 2011

You know your vacation was the best when you feel sad to be leaving. The cottage was just so inviting. To look out just about every window and see the ocean was just to cool. We all were just taken back by the beauty and tranquility of it all. The turtles visited everyday. On our final day we saw several spinner dolphins right in the water from the yard. It was as if they were putting on a show and saying goodbye. We would so come back. The island host was very helpful and was full of knowledge about the island. The welcome was so appreciated.

5-Star Rental Home in a Perfect Location!

Left on 07/19/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Parrish really did a nice job with this home, and with our entire stay. We've rented many vacation homes, and this was one of the best all-around experiences we've ever had. Really great location, tasteful and updated furnishings, impeccably maintained, and top-notch service as well!

What a pleasant surprise to receive email/call from the rental agent about a week before we arrived, basically offering to act as our concierge during our stay. Kristie set up some activities for us, offered to make restaurant reservations, and unobtrusively made sure we had everything we needed. She even had a pitcher of Mai Tais waiting for us when we arrived, along with a personal orientation and list of favorite restaurants, beaches, etc.

This home is in top-notch condition, and is really well maintained. Every room is well appointed. The appliances are new and work well. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could want. Nice linens and towels. Even the beach chairs were nice!

And the location near Spouting Horn is really ideal. You won't be able to walk out the back door and put your feet in the sand, but the ocean is right there, and becomes part of the daily soundtrack. (And the beaches aren't far away, besides.)

We absolutely loved Lani Kai. The home is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The location is extraordinary.

Some comments: There is an ant problem. Cleaners should look under the window seat in the living room for the critters.

I had a problem with the very hard bed and had some trouble sleeping.

All in all a wonderful home.

    Heaven on Earth

Left on 12/01/2009 for a stay in September 2009

This home is absolutely amazing, its worth every cent we paid for it. The furnishings are gorgeous and are better then the pictures, the view is worth a million bucks. Every morning we had coffee and breakfast on the rock wall in front of house overlooking the ocean. We stayed on several islands while on our honeymoon in Hawaii, and this house made Kauai our favorite. (This is even considering our stay at the Ritz Carlton in Maui for comparison) We went grocery shopping and were able to cook at the house when we wanted to. We had first booked a room at the Hyatt and then canceled to stay here instead and it was the right decision. Don't second guess, if you can afford it this is the place to stay in Kauai. The house is in the perfect location, we drove all over the island and had easy access to everything. The homes around this one are all part of the more well off part of the island, there was a great beach maybe half a mile away to go swimming at. The only thing that would have made this house better was if you could swim in the water in front of the house but nothing else was lacking and I certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay in the home again, we truly didn't want to leave.

    Unbelievable!

Left on 10/29/2009 for a stay in September 2009

This house was absolutely fantastic. Normally, I'm skeptical of a property's
ability to live up to its description and photos on the website, but the Lani
Kai cottage did just that, and more! The house is absolutely wonderful; it's
fully equipped, and the decor and furnishings were modern, but it still
retained an island feel. The location has to be seen to be believed. The
ocean is right there, and the sound and view of it are nothing less than
stunning. The ability to take some stairs down to the rocks below was just
icing on the cake. (NOTE: the view from the rocks is stunning, but be careful
if you venture down - don't get too close to the ocean, as the rocks can be
slippery and are very rough as well - a slip and fall could really ruin a
vacation.) To be quite honest, I could have stayed in the house for the
duration of our stay and been perfectly happy.

The service from the Parrish Collection folks was also wonderful. From
booking to arrival, they were always there to answer questions or help with
booking attractions. Having their office nearby on the island was a nice
touch as well. Our one issue with the house was a tiny leak in one of the
pipes leading to the faucet in the tub. A plumber was at the house within
30 minutes of our call to the Parrish office and things were fixed up. Can't
    do better than that!

We found the location of the house to be excellent as well. It was
reasonably close to Lihue (30 min drive), but far enough to be away from
traffic and crowds. There is plenty nearby, such as restaurants, beaches, and
a small market for groceries, all within a few minutes drive.

What did I like least? The fact that the house is/was for sale! I only hope the
new owners continue to rent the property out through the Parrish collection,
as we would return in a heartbeat.

*****, A+, two thumbs up ... there aren't enough superlatives out there to
describe our stay at this property. If you get the chance to stay here, go for
it - you won't regret it!
