Las VegasGreat experience, awesome back yard

We had booked a beach rental with another agent, and were advised 3 weeks prior to our trip that the home we reserved had been foreclosed. The folks at the Parrish Collection were wonderful, helping us to find a place with sufficient space for our family of 9, with air conditioning, less than 10 minutes from our conference site (Hyatt). Beautiful basket of fruit, snacks and coffee greeted us on arrival. Large living room (but no TV there), kitchen/den combo (with TV), pool and lots of furniture outside. We were able to entertain and relax. Easy walk to golf course cafe (live music 5 nights a week), just down the road from Roys and several other restaurants, beach a short drive away. Two small issues-when we arrived there were ants in the back bedroom, exterminator promptly promised but not provided, and we received a turn off notice from the electric company (which the office assured us correctly would not be an issue). Altogether I would very much recommend the house, as well as the Parrish Collection.

From start to finish we enjoyed our stay. We loved the back country tubing adventure as well as a lovely Luau evening at the Hyatt. From Hanalei to anini to Poipu all the beaches were perfect. The home was well appointed, nicely decorated, and the pool/patio area was the perfect setting for slack key guitar listening. If we could add one thing it would be having sand chairs available for our use.
Some of us were lucky enough to stay a little longer, moving to the Nihi Kai units which are also managed by the Parrish Collection staff.
We have been visiting Kauai for many years -this was one of the best experiences ever. -

This house is great for a large family. We had 4 adults and 6 kids between the ages of 12 and 16. Never felt crowded. Kitchen is had high end appliances and lots of pots and pans. We cooked everyday. Great Weber bbq grill. Very quiet neighborhood. In every bathroom there was luxurious bath products. They supply extra bath and bed linens. Do not need to pack extra beach towels. We would book this house again for our next visit.

Manager
Aloha Wendy,
I am disappointed in your recent review of Hale Nolina. Checking our notes from your stay, upon checkout you reported that “…the house was nice and you had a great time…” Also, when we contacted you a few days into your stay, you stated “Everything’s great and awesome”. At no point during your stay did you let us know that anything was wrong and/or that the home did not live up to your expectations.
I am sorry you felt the home was “over-priced”. All our properties are competitively priced based on the size of the home, amenities and the location of the home. As you know, our guests chose the property for their stay on Kauai and we take great care to ensure that all our guests receive what they are expecting. At anytime during their stay, guests can call us and we will address any deficiencies or issues…that is our service promise. We hope that in the future you communicate any problems during your stay so we may address them while you are here.
Mahalo, The Parrish Collection Team.

Love Hawaii
Edmonton, Alberta, CanadaA pleasant stay
Left on 03/30/2011 for a stay in February 2011
This was a lovely location, quiet and relaxed. It was nice to have the option of air conditioning in the entire house. The pool was very cold but tolerable. Generally well supplied in an excellent kitchen but was missing a bread knife that we purchased and left there. Overall the cleanliness was somewhat suspect and the interior is becoming somewhat run down and is definitely dated. Brand new barbecue grill which was great as we stayed there last year and the grill was a mess. Our only concern is the level of cleanliness and as such we will not stay in this house again in the future - this is probably mostly a function of the age of the place and the need for renovations of flooring etc. in the bedrooms and bathrooms.

We worried about privacy but thankfully that was never an issue with the golf course. There are no tees close enough for golfers to be near the house. We’re glad it had A/C because it gets hot pretty early. The house is huge & well appointed so definitely good for multiple couples/big families. The pool was great & had a deep end which seems to be a rarity at some rentals. Anyone who has never stayed in the islands may not know that pests in the form of roaches & geckos are normal. We saw 2 geckos inside (never bothered us-we're used to them) & 2 roaches but they were dead which means the pest company they use is obviously very good. Close to Poipu shopping & not far from beaches.
Cons. While we appreciated no live roaches, it would've been nice if they'd been disposed of. There were huge smudgey handprints on the patio door in multiple locations that were obviously old (which WE cleaned) & many of the towels had to be re-washed because they smelled mildewy. The oven is broken & they know about it because there's a big sign as well as a label on the oven handles saying the weight of the oven door will break the door. When you're paying $5500 per week for a home, the oven should work!! It needs replaced as it's a liabilty. Finally, the maintenance schedule provided to us was never adhered to. The pool was not cleaned the entire stay (WE were the ones who had to keep emptying the filter a few times a day & on the day that was pool cleaning day it was probably the worst shape of the whole trip). The day lawn maintenance was scheduled, no one came but they showed up the next day, brought their family & stayed for the last 3 hours we had to get in any swimming on our last full day. We called the office about it & they said they would send out the property mgr, who never showed up. We were not pleased. We purposely plan to be gone when maintenance is scheduled so we can swim in privacy & if the days are changed then the renters deserve to be told. -

This was a beautifully appointed home as as there were 5 adults it was very roomy and spread out. Wonderful pool and landscaping with a perfect location right on the golf course.
There were a few drawbacks. One of the bedrooms had no air conditioning and although much attention was paid to detail, some points were missing. i.e. dead plants in pots at front door, sprinkler going off at all hours of the day, really cheap silverware and dishes and no door to master bath.
Once we got over these details, we had a perfectly lovely time. -

Hale Nolina backs onto a pretty golf course and is about a 3/4 mile drive to Poipu Beach State Park. There is no easy direct walking route to beaches: you'll likely drive. View of golf course, mountians, peek-a-boo view of distant sea. (All the resort beaches are public and can be used.) The house is very spacious, with an open floor plan, very nice pool and patio, in a very quiet subdivision. Good kitchen, and nice TVs in family room and master bedroom. One wing has three bedrooms: a huge master with bath, and two roomy 'kid rooms' with hallway full bath. (There was room for two adults in one, two kids in another.) One of the smaller bedrooms lacks air conditioning. At the opposite end of the house is another bedroom with full bath, a.c., very separated. Dishwasher, washer and dryer. Two indoor dining tables plus two more outside, gas bbq, pool toys, and beach towels. Cooking equipment is adequate, not lavish. Not much condiments except some coffee, salt and pepper. Sliding doors with screens allow plenty of breeze when a.c. is off. The private pool is a huge plus. What would help is brief instructions on operating air conditioning, zillion light switches (we figured it out)- and a decent corkscrew! The oven door was broken when we were there; company said they were waiting for a part. Overall, much more comfortable than a hotel and recommended.

We stayed in the home with out kids and grandkids during spring break. The home was a perfect size and the location was great. Our grand kids loved the pool. The kitchen could use a better selections of pots and pans. We also had a continuing problem with small worms. All things considered, the positives out weighed the negatives.

Outstanding house for a family vacation. Manager arranged sail/atv/kayak activities & all info & directions were available on arrival. The pool was delightful, so if the kids didn't want to bike to the beach( beach is a long walk-would rent bikes) they were still able to enjoy water. The house is large enough that even with 8 extended family members there was still harmony at the end of one week. No tears. Well equipped kitchen if you don't feel like eating out, or you can BBQ by the pool.
Would highly recommend this house for a week on Kauai. -

Great for combined families
Left on 08/20/2008 for a stay in July 2008
Our family of nine, six adults and three kids 10, 12 and 14 spent a memorable week at the Hale Nolina. The house was very clean, well appointed and roomy. One king suite with bath, one room with queen bed, and another with two twins that shared a bath, and a second king bed and bath at the opposite end of house. Also a queen sofa pullout in the livingroom. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking but we bought easy fix meals from Costco for the most part. The washer and dryer was much appreciated as was the spectacular pool. It wasn't heated but that wasn't necessary and we all swam several times a day. We had a small problem with the air conditioning as we didn't close the sliding doors all the way so the sensors kicked off. The Parrish staff were very responsive and sent someone to check it out right away. Poipu beach is only minutes away by car and we enjoyed it, but for our family the pool experience was a big hit. The staff also made suggestions and helped arrange several tour activities for us. They couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. We can highly recommend the Parrish Collections Kauai and their Hale Nolina property, especially for a larger group, and we made happy family memories to last a lifetime.

Perfect for a ho'olaule'a (family gathering)
Left on 08/19/2008 for a stay in July 2008
We chose the Hale Nolina for an extended family gathering and it lived up to every possible expectation. The first 10 minutes at the house was spent walking around and just soaking in the incredible atmosphere of this property.
It had every possible appointment we required and was very clean. An unexpected problem with the water department was fixed within 10 minutes by a quick call to the helpful parrish admin staff.
The property is a few minutes drive to the beach but this was no problem for our group.
We spent so much time taking in the amazing sights of kauai, that several family members commented that the major regret of their stay was not being able to spend more time at the house.
