Pokolbin is the heart of the Hunter Valley Wine Country. Just 2.5 hours north west of Sydney CBD. Araluen Cottages are nestled amongst surrounded by vineyards and bushland, yet easily accessible to local restaurants and wineries (1km). Explore further, by car or organise a vineyard tour. There are some 70 plus wineries and 30 cafes'/restaurants to sample. There are art/gift galleries, golf courses and award winning gardens, all an easy drive from your home here at 'Araluen". The beach and port,city of Newcastle is 1 hour by car. The treasures of Port Stephens, 1 1/2 hours away. The Barrigton National Park is 1 1/2 hours. The riches of the Upper Hunter, horse studs, farming and more vineyards, 1 hour. Why not stay for a few days and really get to know the Hunter???

I stayed at araluen with my future husband and parents-in-law. We were all impressed with the location (walking distance from very good restaurants and wineries), the wildlife near to see and the condition of the property. We stayed in a 2 bedroom self-contained cottage which was well presented and comfy. Drive to the door, lovely country location - no need to worry about parking or security here! We appreciated the coffee and tea provisions, as well as a full container of milk and the attention to detail with any request we had. We have already rebooked to bring more guests here in June.

Wonderful location in the heart of wine country, near some of the best cellar doors, restaurants, and a private setting perfect for watching sunset/sunrise with kangaroos while sitting on the veranda. Our dog loved the space to run and play. The accommodations were simple yet very comfortable and everything we needed. We are planning to return someday soon in the future.

We are a young family and we stayed at araluen Cottages for one week in Jan - from the minute we got there we were thrilled with the self contained cabin we stayed in (great with kids/meals etc), and the highlight was the beautiful scenery / vineyards that greet you as soon as you leave the cabin. Highlights were seeing kangaroos up close and swimming in the pool and just soaking up the beauty while we got some much needed r&r.; No request was too difficult. Highly recommended.
