Beautiful Holiday Villa in Evia island, Greece
Politika, Mainland & the Saronic Islands, Greece
Additional Location Information
One day excursions are a good possibility. For example to Athens (110kms) where you can visit the Acropolis, New Acropolis museum, National museum, old Plaka and the flea market of Monastiraki, etc.) Or, also on the mainland at a distance of 165 kms, there is the magical ancient site of Delphi. Nerotrivia itself has taverns and mini markets as does the village of Politika 7 kms to the south. A beach bar and tavern shaded by pines can be found at Daphne 7 kms to the north. And last, but not least there is the tavern “Agnanti” in the village of Kamaritsa with an unparalleled view to the south.
The mountainous island of Evia itself extends parallel to the eastern mainland coast for 180kms, opposite the prefectures of Attica, Boeotia and Phthiotis. It is the second largest Greek island after Crete. The north is densely forested whereas the southern region is more barren and resembles the landscape of the Cycladic islands, to which Evia belongs.
In the northwest the small village of Limni and the thermal spa town of Edipsos are well worth visiting as are the sandy beaches on the eastern (Aegean) side of the island. Typically, Aghia Anna, Limnionas and Chiliadou, which has a separate nudist bathing area. These are all accessible via not very high mountain passes.
The island of Evia has not yet been discovered by international tourism except for a few larger hotels in the Eritrea area in the south. For the most part, it can still be enjoyed in the timeless manner where traditional Greek lifestyle landscape, taverns, villages and people exist in a tranquillity lost to the more tourist centres. Here you can still meet herds of sheep and goats and high in the mountains there are cattle grazing freely.. Occasionally a hare or a nightingale will surprise you in this corner of the Mediterranean. A place for relaxing with a crystal clear sea and peaceful atmosphere, for people who are searching for somewhere “different”.
The property is inside a fenced area of nearly 3 acres shared with three other weekend houses. The villa stands on a slope amongst by pines and eucalyptus trees and surrounded by verdant Mediterranean flora, The vista is of a small valley opening onto the sea. The pebble beach below is shaded by tall pines and to the north there is another spectacular view of the summit of Mount Kandili (l.225m).
