A fantastic villa converted from an old farm building and re-designed by the Mallorcan artist Pere Bennassar. Finca Colonya D'Alt is in a beautiful part of the Colonya Valley, surrounded by woods and mountains but still just a few minutes from Pollença's historic Old Town.
The house is fully accessible - with wide doorways and all the rooms and garden are completely flat and all at ground level. The house is down a private drive at the start of a narrow lane, with just a handful of other houses nearby.
Outside it's built from traditional Mallorcan stone and inside the rooms are very light and bright with lots of spotlighting, bea...med ceilings, slate floors and fantastic contemporary furniture. All the rooms are air-conditioned. There's a long lounge and dining-kitchen. The sleek kitchen area has lots of storage space and counter surfaces, and chrome appliances including an oven and hob, a dishwasher and a microwave.
The bedrooms are very well designed - both rooms have fitted wardrobes and sloping ceilings with hidden spotlighting. The double bedroom is a very spacious room with doors leading out onto the front terrace. It has a king-size bed and a sparkling-white en-suite shower bathroom. The twin bedroom is also very stylish with smart new linens. There's a second bathroom, with a shower, and again this is an incredibly well designed and luxuriously appointed room with bright white fittings and tiles.
The family-friendly garden is really distinctive with a chequer-board deck around the pool. The pool has a separate jacuzzi and a pool-shower for after a swim. A lawn runs around the pool and sun-terrace. A lovely L-shaped stone terrace overlooks the garden and pool - there's a covered barbecue area too with cane dining furniture. The terrace and garden have stunning open views of the mountains of the Colonya valley.
This is a lovely holiday house with fantastic contemporary design. It's fully accessible and is also family-friendly - particularly in the gardens. It's in a dramatic and peaceful part of the Colonya Valley but is still very close to Pollença - the Old Town is a 25-minute walk away or an easy bike ride in less than 10 minutes. The beaches and resort of Puerto Pollença are also close by, just a 13-minute drive.
